I bought a 1 KILO Silver Britannia From The Royal Mint!
In this video I talk about the 1 KILO silver Coin that I recently bought. I talk about the pros and cons of buying a bar of silver like this and certainly one in the Kilo silver coin size. If you are a silver stacker or silver investor and you are buying silver coins or silver bars then this is the video for you. Silver is real money and has been used as real money for thousands of years. Generic silver is a specific type of silver that is usually in the form of silver bars or silver rounds. Silver coins are not included in the generic silver category. Not only do we define generic silver but we also talk about the merits of stacking it. Silver and gold are wealth protection and I believe everyone should be stacking them. Silver coins are good but silver bars have some magic to them and no more so than a Kilo Silver Coin.
    Key Features
Each Britannia 2023 bullion coin featuring the fifth and final effigy of Queen Elizabeth II has a limited production run. A Britannia coin featuring King Charles III’s first effigy will be released in the new year.
The largest coin in this range
Struck in one kilo of 999 fine silver for the first time
Enhanced with four advanced security features
A latent image changes from a padlock to Britannia’s famous trident
Surface animation brings the background of waves to life
The micro-text provides both decoration and protection
Britannia’s shield bears the Union flag, which is accented with tincture lines
Encapsulated in a single coin capsule
Britannia has been cast as the female personification of Britain for centuries, evolving through the ages to capture the spirit of a nation and its people. First appearing on the coins of the Roman Emperor Hadrian, Britannia has been a continuous presence on British coins since 1672. Today, this icon appears on our flagship Britannia bullion coin. Renowned for its beauty and reliability, this incarnation of Britannia was created by sculptor Philip Nathan in 1987. He presented the ‘queen of the seas’ with carefully chosen symbols of Britain’s identity - a shield for protection, an olive branch for peace and a trident for her maritime links. The award-winning design has become so highly regarded that only The Royal Mint is able to strike genuine Britannia coins featuring Philip Nathan’s interpretation. This modern classic has been struck on the 2023 bullion coin, which contains one kilo of 999 fine silver and depicts Britannia standing boldly amongst the waves.
This one kilo silver coin includes four additional security features, as does the one ounce fine silver and the one ounce, half-ounce, quarter-ounce and tenth-ounce fine gold editions of the coin.

I JUST ordered my first kilo coin and it's also a Britannia, except I think it has King Charles as the face. Super stoked to get it! I'm right there with you - it's more a "pure fun" piece than an "investment," but it could luck out down the road as a collectible.

I understand exactly why you bought a 1 kilo coin. I purchased the 2020 1 kilo sitting bull silver coin from Samoa. The mintage is a low 199 coins and to me it's more of a piece of art than it is a coin. I doubt I'll ever get my money back out of it but I knew that when I purchased it. The fine detailed art work was worth it. If you've never seen this coin up close you should go take a look at The Coin Shoppe.

I understand your position on this. I usually try to find silver at spot or less on the secondary market just to be safe. I see the VAT as a risk. Once in a while though, I spend significantly over spot just because I find something beautiful, usually silver antiques. Sometimes you don't mind paying a little extra for a beautiful piece. 🙂

I collect mostly 10oz and 1 kilo coins. I have quite a few 1 kilos including the completer (my favourite piece) and I so desperately wanted the 1kilo Britannia. It's an absolutely stunning coin. However, I just can't pay the price for it. I usually pay between £720 - £840 for my kilos, and the cheapest I could find this one for was just shy of £1000. As much as I love it and want it, I can't justify that price and will have to sadly go without it which breaks my heart 😢
EDIT: I posted this comment halfway through the video before I got to the bit near the end saying you didn't want people moaning about the price in the comments... sorry 🤣

I also find it funny that APMEX here in the states was trying to charge $1800.00 + tax. I bought mine from The Royal Mint for only(still expensive of course) for $1020.00 all in w/free shipping. I love me some kilo coins, however the Britannia is not the best choice really. It's not something with a yearly changing motif (so you don't have collectors just missing that one coin to complete a collection), the minting quality is rather average, the premium you pay right from the dealer was rather high. I'd much rather recommend the Perth Kookaburra or Lunar kilos.
However I like the design of the current Britannia coins the most and who knows, these might turn out to be very limited mintage with the queen effigy and all. You're probably not gonna get your premium back when eventually selling it, but having that iconic coin to look at without a magnifying glass is good.
Also: Thanks for showing it without the capsule in all its glory.

I'm a bit of a pushover, have social anxiety, and don't like confrontation or haggling lol. I guess worst case I should always be able to get spot, right? Actually, the last time there were 2 monarchs on same year coins was back in 1820 - when George IV took over from his dad George III. Then there was also 1937 (altho some people don't count this, because he abdicated), Edward VIII abdicated and George VI took over..... :)

I bought the QB Completer kilo believing I wouldn't get a 10oz version, then the RM did issue a 10oz and bought 3 of them
I can live with my misunderstanding but I'm not about to repeat it.

It’s very nice but how will it be of any value. You can’t take to a bank for cash value. Pawn shops will take it for less than spot value will be a lost of money
