I just got so excited! At 11:59 right after you say, “35,” you slowly pan left and there is a Doris lee print on the bottom with an tag on it. Doris Lee is my great aunt! That print is called “Thanksgiving” and my grandmother is the little girl petting the cat! I love that you saw it!!
Another point St Vincent’s makes a point to keep money in the community the store is in. My St Vincent’s makes lunches and dinners for people in need. Housing for Veterans and people finishing rehab plus my favorite 24 hour warming rooms in cold weather

@@lilibeth1947 Its shelter from cold temps for the homeless, etc. A warm place indoors for the homeless or anyone needing to get out of the cold and be in a warm place.
Our St Vincent's also helps alot with the community. Thats great yours does warming center.

How do they do the staffing? Are hot drinks (coffee, hot cocoa) and water available? Toilet facilities, I assume.
My church has a large room and several smaller rooms that could maybe be used that way after 7:30pm or so. I imagine staffing and security would be the main issues that would come up here. 😬 Plus the availability of the rooms. The schedule is already tight.
Until I was 16-18 or so, the Sanctuary was always always unlocked. Anyone could go 24/7/365 to pray or just rest. All the brass candlesticks and other sacred items were left out where they belonged. Then theft became a problem. I guess when someone stole the cross from the altar, that broke the camel’s back. Now all the churches are locked all the time.
Why couldn’t the sacred things made of Brass be locked away and a wooden cross be placed on the altar. I don’t know. Maybe they were afraid of vandalism of the 100+yr old stained glass. I don’t know, but it’s sad to me. I digress...
So, I just loved this episode! No music to content with, shelves so lovingly displayed, you and Sue together being besties, Sue sharing her cash...loved every bit of this! Please return earlier so we can have longer to ogle the goodies!

We just had a new St. V's DePauls open up here in Toledo, after closing in the 90s. It was an awesome shopping experience here. Wonderful finds at very great prices. Thank you so much, Sue and Jocelyn for teaching me what to look for. While I have only sold 5 things ($5 spent) I have made $85.
My best friend is 65 and she found this channel and said “it’s just like you and me!” We are thrift shop junkies and I also own my thrift shop own shop which is how we met 🤦🏻♀️ 🛒

they sell those retro halloween cardboard decorations all over now. i bought a pkg of 8 for abt $8.00 last year @ my neighborhood discount store. ive seen them on amazon too. includes a witch, a witches house, a black cat, pumpkin face, etc. they're smaller than the originals (originals were about 16" in diameter) my mum gave me a couple she found in an antique store) so cute. halloween is my fav holiday after xmas.

I’m a Volunteer at a SVDP Thrift Store in northern Alabama. The stores are not a chain but in our Diocese they are overseen regionally by a board which includes someone who comes periodically to look over the store and the books. All the SVDP functions are a ministry of the RC Church. They are mostly run by volunteers but have a paid manager and sometimes a very few other positions. Prices are really really low but some of the variation is because there are several different people doing the pricing. We run completely by donations, usually from the local Catholic Church members. We receive some truly amazing items and there are new things put out every day. Our store also has a local grocery chain who twice a week donates breads and desserts that are very near expiration-bags and totes full. Those are given free from the Thrift Store to anyone who wants them-2 to a person. SVDP here also has a free food pantry donating to the needy. Many of the items from the Thrift store are also given free to the needy.
I’m very proud to be associated with SVDP and I hope you and Sue go back, and that your promoting it will also bring more people in. 😊😊😊

My mom also collected Annalee figurines so I have a special love for them, too. I'm anxious to see all the ones you bought. What a beautiful little shop. We had a SVDP store but it closed about 5 years ago. I look forward to seeing many more shopping videos at this one. I clicked through to the auction for the art league. They have some awesome stuff.

I live our St Vincent’s. Yes some things are higher but it’s well displayed and they genuinely want to move product. Glad u found a new spot!!!
I will check out the church auctions! Best wishes to your Dad and this new adventure they are on. Love old churches and buildings. Glad they are utilizing something with history. Out west we are “new” crazy. No one wants to deal with old buildings. We bulldoze down and start new. It’s such a shame and so wasteful.

Yes...we have SVDP stores all over WI. Prices vary by store. They tend to be really high on furniture and name brand shoes and purses. Everything else is mostly reasonable.
I’m in heaven watching you and Sue shop a new thrift store! We have a St. Vincent’s here in California but it’s small and pricey. Please visit earlier. They have SO many goodies! Now to visit your dad’s church’s auction. 🥰

They maybe not as large as Goodwill or Community Aid but I'm sure they would be pleased to have your business (and the publicity). I love that you found a new place to thrift at. At the 11:24 mark I wanted to reach into the screen and grab that cube Teapot on the bottom shelf. Looked like a Sadler (I collect them). The colour was beautiful and I have not seen that one before.

At 8:11 Sue picked up a dish and said it would be a new cat dish? NO!!! That dish is NOT for food, it is poisionous. I have about three of those type of bowls, from Neiman Marcus and Lord and Taylor, it is for DECOR only - or popurri.

I’m jealous. I live in Florida and our thrift store, goodwills and church charities all have crap. It’s rare to find nice stuff. You literally hit the jackpot ever shopping spree. If I find 2 items it’s a amazing day! Mom and I need to rake a road trip to PA!

I believe that most of the St. Vinny's workers are volunteers and although there is a general price structure, prices to vary by the volunteer tagging the items that day (at least in my area).
You girls found great stuff. I loved the old fashioned Halloween decorations. I loved the little girl with the red scarf and I love the broches ❤.
