- The Emancipation of Mimi wasn’t just Mariah Carey’s comeback album, but also served as a statement that she survived and prepared against the turmoil she suffered against amidst her ex-husband who happened to be her record label executive and the back-clash from the ‘Glitter’ fiasco.

she needs her confidence back. she can still make it, it's just that everyone wants to destroy her for being a complete package because of it she doesn't full trust herself
Did you forget to mention that it was the best selling album of 2005? If I'm not mistaken it was the first and only time Mariah had the best selling album of the year despite her massive sells in the 90's.
in terms of worldwide sales it was not, i think for 2005 Green Day's 'American Idiot' was the best selling album and then Coldplay's 'X & Y'.
@@kevinwright7781 exactly EOM was the best selling album only in USA. Mariah always has problems with worldwide sales and popularity. She was huge with ballads like Hero or My all and Christmas songs in the entire world but the others albums and songs not had any impact in many of the world with the exception of a few asian countries like Japan, Philiphines, etc where she's huge. For example in UK she never achive great popularity and the sales never was big and she doesn't have the giant superstatus power like in her country. Other example in Latin America in 2005 the most popular artist and songs of a womens divas in english lenguage was Shakira, Britney, Christina, Gwen Stefani, then Fergie in 2006. EOM was never big and popular here, We belong together and It's like that sounded a lot but they weren't gigantic like in the USA. And those were the last radio singles from Mariah 15 years ago. The only thing that has been heard again is the Christmas song. Even many people know more about Tommy Mottola's current wife, the mexican actress and singer Thalia, and she has always been more popular in Latin America than Mariah herself whom they only know for her popular ballads in the 90s. Mariah was always gigantic in the USA but she has not been able to match that gigantic success in the mass public of the rest of the world only in the faithful fans and few countries like the asians.
@@Itzzy515 well, mariah has always been huge in brazil both with her ballads and other hits (like "we belong together"). in 2009, "i want to know what love is" topped the brazilian charts for a record-breaking 27 weeks, and, to this day, you can hear her emancipation hits on the radio (i've heard "we belong together" and "it's like that" being played last year)
@@kevinwright7781 It was the best selling album in the US in 2005.
@@kevinwright7781 and it was the second best selling album worldwide behind Coldplay's x&y.
Mariah was always r&b to me
But tommy & Sony wanted her to be more Adult contemporary which helped but Mariah was always r&b soul hop pop & gospel she is so multi versed in her music
Mariah proved that doesnt need to depend on adult contemporary to chart higher.Besides adult contemporary was fading in the 2000s and hiphop/rnb/punk rock took its popularity
It’s impossible to have a come back when she never left the game to begin with.
pisses me off that loverboy was the best selling single in 2001 and 3 years later had we belong together, GIVE HER A BREAK LIKE..... 14 weeks number 1, 1996 16 weeks number 1.... is that not enough
This album got me through a very hard time in 2005. Amazing album. Thanks Mariah :)
Queen Mimi is a unappreciated legend I wish more people could appreciate her talent from her songwriting skills and vocal capabilities 🐑🦋✨
And Now 2022 she has alreadly been inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame
I love this video. You explained this really really well.
Thank you! 🙏 😊
"All hail and bow to Mariah Carey, The Queen of Divas, Protector of the vocal skills from the realm, Archiduchess of Vocal range/registers, Empress of agility, The unmatched, The Mellisma mother, The Goddess of Songwriting and producing, The one often imitated, but never duplicated, The embodiment of pure success",. My simpleton ears are not worthy of your talent but a simple sung phrase will be enough to heal me for all eternity.
Thank you much for this, we love Mariah

Sony put a whole army behind Mariah’s success, she would not have been that successful without them, many labels did that with their biggest acts. But not to say she wouldn’t have been the biggest act of the 90s
But that was back then..... in 2005 she was at a different record label and worked on and written most of the album with JD. Stop taking credit away from female artist.
A TRULY NO SKIP ALBUM
That album is full of bangers!
What performace is the 'We Belong Together' snippet at 7:41 from?

Hold up daydream sold 55mil and musicbox sold 35mil
daydream has DEFINITELY not sold 55 mil
@@agus-ld4ll lol idk what Ant was talking about
Music Box is mariah's highest selling album
Daydream has sold 31,4 million (26 million) and Music Box 35 million
@@flylikealamb9260 That must include singles as well. I think just albums sales is 'Music Box" ~ 26 million and 'Daydream' ~ 20 million.
Great video but were her songs distorted or something? Lol she sounds 8 in all the playbacks
Thank you! I had to use different audio because of copyright issues.

I love your video, but you speak so slowly that it gets frustrating
Thank you sir and I appreciate your feedback. My speech is my struggling weak point and I'm trying to improve it.
Just set the video to 1,25x speed.
@@the-backgroundnoise No, it's not that's slow... When you say mimi I get so frustrated...
