    My husband and I were ecstatic when we realized we had everything on hand to make this for dinner last night, and the tuna melt was amazing!!! We ended up splitting a second sandwich after we ate our first because we couldn’t get enough. We then promptly fell into food comas 😆 this recipe is 1000% going into the rotation

    A pinch of black salt/Kala Namak is a great addition for fans of tuna salad with hard boiled egg. The sulfur content of kala namak adds a hard boiled egg yolk taste.

    I made it! The garbanzo bean/jack fruit combo is MONEY. I think I might have gone a different way with seasoning, including furikake, and Korean seasoned seaweed to give it that ocean-y sensation. Lots of vegan mayo, sugar-free pickle relish, celery, onion, smoked paprika, black garlic salt and a generous splash of Texas Pete. Served on take and bake bread slices. OMG! So good! And when plugged into Myfitnesspal's recipe calculator, super low calorie for how filling! Thank you, sir!

    Made the all-jackfruit version of this last night. We let it sit overnight to really absorb all that dill goodness (I used dry dill and chives at a 1 Tbsp fresh = 1 tsp dry ratio). Had our first sandwiches on soft white bread today with lettuce and thinly sliced tomato and onion, and they were superb. Your dressing is so flavorful. Waiting now for hubby to get home so we can try the tuna melt version for dinner.
    This opens up a whole new world of jackfruit recipes that I'd been avoiding because it sounded like too much work separating the seeds. You were the first one to suggest just chopping the seeds right into the rest of it, which I did, and they were indistinguishable from the rest of the mixture. Going to be trying some jackfruit pulled "pork" next. 🤤

    • @TheeBurgerDude
      @TheeBurgerDude  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome! Yeah I’m lazy and discovered that you can use all the jackfruit! Glad you liked it!!

    • @ojk14325b
      @ojk14325b 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I too started not caring about the seeds and not only do they not alter the texture in any noticeable way when you process them, you get more out of your can of jackfruit.

  • @newhandlewhothis
    @newhandlewhothis 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This is pretty similar to something I've made before using just chickpeas as a base (jackfruit isn't very available, also protein) but I also used to around that amount half a pack of silken soft tofu and black salt, because I liked those tuna egg sandwiches.

  • @graymayhem2410
    @graymayhem2410 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You can also make something like this in your food processor. Pulse your base to desired consistency, remove and set aside. Add veg and pulse. Then add base back in, mayo, and mix by hand.

    Hi. Your recipe looks really good. And you seem like a lot of fun. You don't need background music though. For people who are listening to their own music, it's distracting. For people like me on the spectrum it's unpleasant. For people who are re-watching to get the ingredients or tips it's repetitive. My feedback to people who use it is you don't need it. A little bit of music when people aren't talking is okay. But when people are talking it really doesn't enhance the videos. I've probably left this comment on a bunch of channels but I only do it if I want to watch and finding it challenging to tolerate the music. So consider it a compliment and again thanks for your recipe. It looks delicious.

    Please please make a version analogous to tuna mayo Japanese or Korean style where it is generally eaten inside rice balls, that’s the only way I ate tuna and I do miss it. Every other vegan substitute I’ve found or made just doesn’t seem to hit for this particular use. Also, I wonder how possible it is to make a spam subtitute from scratch (to use in things like Spam Musubi)? Great content and recipes as always 🧡
    P.S.: Kewpie mayo (Japanese style mayo) brand does actually make a vegan mayo! It’s expensive tho :( but is absolutely necessary to have this kind for Japanese or Korean tuna mayo.
