Donald, Thanks for posting the June Field trip vid! Glad to see all is well at your place. We have been under the heat also. Around 100-105 degrees here at my place. John
Beautiful productive garden - and all without mulch (that I could see) or raised beds or even double digging. You've broken all the rules that I thought were so very important and still have this beautiful garden. Good job! Thanks for the tour.
coal~robbie is how that word is said i think and woot your plants look awesoem thank you very much for the field trip!! realy inspires me to make my own garden better as i can see the grand poteintial that i could achive in your your own skilled work and the spelder that is your field of wonder! thank You Donald!
Awesome crops Donald. Those tomatoes sure look wonderful....and the corn! Red soil is the best. I've just I got my first ever snowpea pod. lol I expect to see your choco...mirliton..covering the net within a couple of weeks. Thanks for the great tour.
Wow Donald ! Your worm bin has really done well. You are a natural ! Good for you with the compost tea. I have turned my son onto compost tea back in Ontario & he has been making the tea & spreading it on my lawn & flower beds. No veggie gardent there tho. So happy to see you benefiting from the worm bin & compost tea. No looking back now eh !
Snap beans are one of my favorite vegetables. I like them with bacon, onions and new potatoes on rice. Boy that's good. Enjoyed your latest video....... Donald
coal, ( kohl ) rob, as in bob ( rabi ) and stick an e - at the end,... coal-rob-e and there you have it, Germans & Italians love it ..... you are a MASTER gardener full stop! i admire your artistry..
This spring I wasn't watering at all but since the first of June I've been out there just about every day with a watering can. Our average rainfall per year is around 50-60 inches........ Donald
I hope the Mirliton does well but this heat is really giving it a hard time right now. This has got to be the hottest June we've had in awhile. Congrats on the snowpeas........ Donald
My father raised worms for many years so I do have some experience with the worms. The tea I'm making now is from my compost and what I call "Swamp Dirt". I have to be careful cause it will burn peppers. Have to cut it with water or it's too strong. I do have plans for the fall garden......... Donald
Cantaloupe are one of the easiest things to grow if you give them room. The vines are Cucuzza Squash sent to me by Fulton from Texas and Mirlitons sent by Sandy from New Orleans. Both are new to me but appear to be doing good......... Donald
With these tomatoes I had to tie a few after they grew above the cages and they still fell over. Picked one the other day that went over 2 lbs. Got quite a few more on there that size or bigger. One tomato is big enough to feed the whole family. LOL .......... Donald
Yes I do find that just about anything planted in a pot needs water just about every day. We are in a real dry spell right now and I sometimes water them twice a day........ Donald
Hey Caleb ... Those worms are sure doing a great job. Since I did the vid, I've added another 5 lbs. of worms to the tub. Hoping to make compost / worm tea for the garden. I've started my fall tomatoes which are about 3 inches tall right now....... Donald
It won’t be long before I do my first “Field Trip” of this year’s garden. Got a late start this year because of the rain but things are starting to really look good. Getting some rain as I type this so I’m HAPPY. : ) ……Donald
@onyxreddragon ... well I have the corn, okra, potatoes and purple hull planted. Will soon start planting tomatoes, cucumber, snap beans, peppers and eggplant.
Great garden , my question is how many purple hull pea plants should i plant for a decent harvest for a family of 5,had some the other nite and they were delicious.
The heat along with the humidity is a killer. Can only stay out there a little while then have to come in and cool off a bit in the fan. It's also been real dry lately so that's not good for the garden. Went from too wet to too dry.......... Donald
The corn was “Trucker’s Favorite” which I didn’t find very sweet. My pea sheller is made by Taylor Mfg and is called the “little sheller”. Never tried shelling sugar snap peas so not sure on that…..Donald
We've been getting lots of rain down here so there wasn't much I could do in the garden. Just got several more inches today. Hadn't be able to plant the first thing yet......Donald
I guess that would depend on how often you want them. I planted 300 feet and have picked well over 20 ... 5 gal. buckets. If I'd of pick them all I would say 30 ... 5 gal. buckets out of those 300 ft....... Donald
I added more worms food for em. Finding egg sacks and little worms all over the tub. Hopefully by the fall i'll be able to start harvesting........... Donald
Yeah great video Donald, nice intro :) I hope you get some watermelons later this year! And by the way i think Kohlrabi's pronounced something like - "Coal-raa-bee" or "Coal-raw-bee". I like your "call-bree" or "calibree" better hah!
My God, son!! (lol) What kind of corn is that? Will the G-90 that I planted get that tall??.... Also, this video has answered a question that I asked about planting cucumber and squash on the same row... Thanks.
I have some watermelon now but the plants are starting to die off. No rain, really hot for this time of the year, it's not good for the garden........ Donald
@hebrewbrother7 ... I get em every year and don't really worry about em. After shucking the ear just break off the end where the worm is. The old folks use to say having the worm meant your corn was healthy. LOL.....Donald
You should see the size of these tomatoes I picking. No joke, 2+ lbs. beat my record by a long shot. Really looking forward to making tea out of the castings....... Donald
I have never seen a tomato plant the big in my life. Ours aren't even two foot yet, and don't have any tomatos on any of them. Maybe it has to do w/ all the cold nights we had back in late May and part of june.
I consider 1 plant in a container a small garden, anything bigger than that is a garden. LOL I've got a few watermelon that would go 15-25 lbs. but not sure they'll survive this dry spell we are in........ Donald
I figure if someone takes the time to comment, I should take the time to respond. It is taking me a little longer these days but that's OK. I enjoy it........ Donald
how do you keep all the bugs away from them? so that they don't go bad? my squash has alot of bugs that are eating the plant and i spray pest control on it but they come back.
@webcajun How tall does G-90 get? Mine is probably 2 ft. tall (or more) right now. I won't be able to get back in there and hill or cultivate the corn and 1 of my potato rows. It's too tall! Thanks
I'll probably wind up sticking a few sticks in the ground to help guide my cucumbers off of the cantaloupe and watermellow. My cucumbers are growing like crazy.
@vnswamy2008 ... I use 8-8-8 at a rate of 8 lbs. per 100 ft. of row before planting. If you use a stronger fertilizer use less. I also use Miracle Grow in my water tank on areas I didn't fertilize......Donald
It's an heirloom variety "Coustralee" and I really don't recommend them. If you want 12 tomato plants better plant at least 36. They do produce huge tomatoes but just not worth the trouble....... Donald
My tomatoes are all bad and i don't know why. They are still on the vine but the bottoms are all black and starting to rot. I don't know why is it the heat or do they have some kind of plague?? please help!
Donald,
Thanks for posting the June Field trip vid!

Thanks for showing how things are growing. I look forward to all your videos.
Outstanding... I found the first bit of color on one of my tomatoes yesterday.. can't wait for what tomorrow will bring.
coal~robbie is how that word is said i think and woot your plants look awesoem thank you very much for the field trip!! realy inspires me to make my own garden better as i can see the grand poteintial that i could achive in your your own skilled work and the spelder that is your field of wonder! thank You Donald!
Hey Tanvir ... glad you enjoy the videos. Thanks......... Donald
You learn something new in the garden every day. I learned a lot from my mistakes......... Donald
I think you've proven your humble opinion. Amazing garden.
Sure do miss you!
Donald, I really enjoy watching your videos. I'm learning a lot! Thanks! -George from New York.
Just an old county boy playing in the dirt. Glad you enjoy......... Donald
I've been enjoying watching your videos for some time now! Entertaining, informative, well produced, and just all around great!
Keep it up friend!

Really enjoyed your video. That's some tomato plants you have growing.
I'm going to settle down and watch the rest of the videos.
Thanks webcajun.
You are the inspiration for our garden :-) Thanks Webcajun my kids love you!
Hey George ... glad you enjoy the vids..... Donald
Snap beans are one of my favorite vegetables. I like them with bacon, onions and new potatoes on rice. Boy that's good. Enjoyed your latest video....... Donald
Looking good so far this year Donald, thanks for the update!
That is a great looking garden, and you have a big variety of vegetables growing in it.
You can put up a lot of good food from a big garden....Donald
coal, ( kohl ) rob, as in bob ( rabi ) and stick an e - at the end,... coal-rob-e and there you have it, Germans & Italians love it ..... you are a MASTER gardener full stop! i admire your artistry..
I love your gardens Mr. Donald.
Still love to watch his videos. 😊
Thanks for sharing!!! This really motivates me to keep gardening. You have a beautiful garden(farm).
This spring I wasn't watering at all but since the first of June I've been out there just about every day with a watering can. Our average rainfall per year is around 50-60 inches........ Donald

I have to be careful cause it will burn peppers. Have to cut it with water or it's too strong. I do have plans for the fall garden......... Donald
I can't say that I miss him, because I didn't know him personally. But it's sad to know that he is gone. Now gardening for the master.
Cantaloupe are one of the easiest things to grow if you give them room.
The vines are Cucuzza Squash sent to me by Fulton from Texas and Mirlitons sent by Sandy from New Orleans. Both are new to me but appear to be doing good......... Donald

Thanks for the kind words and you're very welcome.......
Donald
They are just starting to produce now. I have about 30 lbs. on the cabinet and quite a few in the frig........ Donald
I love Ur videos cant wait till the next one
It won’t be long before I do my first “Field Trip” of this year’s garden. Got a late start this year because of the rain but things are starting to really look good. Getting some rain as I type this so I’m HAPPY. : ) ……Donald
Miss you sir🕊️

Donald I keep waiting to see your thumbs turn green!!!!!!!
Donald,
I think you do a fantastic job putting together your videos. You may have shared but I can't find it but what is the video software you use?
The heat along with the humidity is a killer. Can only stay out there a little while then have to come in and cool off a bit in the fan. It's also been real dry lately so that's not good for the garden. Went from too wet to too dry.......... Donald
The corn was “Trucker’s Favorite” which I didn’t find very sweet. My pea sheller is made by Taylor Mfg and is called the “little sheller”. Never tried shelling sugar snap peas so not sure on that…..Donald
I always learn something. Thanks and good fortune.
Absolutely beautiful, I wish I was there to watch them grow. At this late date is there anything I can start on a balcony in a pot?
We've been getting lots of rain down here so there wasn't much I could do in the garden. Just got several more inches today. Hadn't be able to plant the first thing yet......Donald
I love your dogs. give them a big kiss for me.
I guess that would depend on how often you want them. I planted 300 feet and have picked well over 20 ... 5 gal. buckets. If I'd of pick them all I would say 30 ... 5 gal. buckets out of those 300 ft....... Donald
Yeah it does the same thing on my end when I try posting. Takes several refreshes for it to show up....... Donald
They do make a good snack on the pit. If I'm going to cook / boil some I like to pick them when about the size of a 10 oz. beer can....... Donald
I added more worms food for em. Finding egg sacks and little worms all over the tub. Hopefully by the fall i'll be able to start harvesting........... Donald
Some folks do freeze their squash but I really don't like it that way. Fresh off the plant is my favorite.......... Donald
Very good presenter
Yeah great video Donald, nice intro :)
I hope you get some watermelons later this year! And by the way i think Kohlrabi's pronounced something like - "Coal-raa-bee" or "Coal-raw-bee". I like your "call-bree" or "calibree" better hah!
We had 1 inch of rain in June and nothing this month so lots of my stuff is wilting too........ Donald
Your garden is an inspiration! What is your secret to weed control on your rows?
I run my tiller between the rows then use a hoe right next to the plants…..Donald
The corn variety is "Trucker's Favorite". On a scale of 1-10 it's a 1 in my book. Just a little sweeter than field corn........ Donald
Sounds like "Goat" in Cajun French to me. Glad you enjoyed the video........ Donald
for the corn what kind of seed did you use? also great job so far.
My God, son!! (lol) What kind of corn is that? Will the G-90 that I planted get that tall??.... Also, this video has answered a question that I asked about planting cucumber and squash on the same row... Thanks.
Seperating the castings is real easy. I'll do a video on it when I harvest........ Donald
Thanks....... Donald
I have some watermelon now but the plants are starting to die off. No rain, really hot for this time of the year, it's not good for the garden........ Donald
Love your videos! Thank you for sharing. What type of tomato plants are you growing? :-)
We almost had no rain in June. The garden is really hurting right now......... Donald
They have since really loaded up with tomatoes and the branches bent over and now touching the ground........
Donald

again you are very welcome.. cheers
Working on it now....... Donald
how do you keep all the bugs away from them? so that they don't go bad? my squash has alot of bugs that are eating the plant and i spray pest control on it but they come back.
great videos !! how and when you fertilize the okra and other plants in your field?
I see you live near a slab field good work
It's not all skill, the variety has everything to do with the size of the plant and the size of the tomatoes........ Donald
@webcajun How tall does G-90 get?
Mine is probably 2 ft. tall (or more) right now. I won't be able to get back in there and hill or cultivate the corn and 1 of my potato rows. It's too tall! Thanks
Do you water often? What is your rainfall per year?
@kandoosmith1 ...Thanks, glad they help......Donald
I'll probably wind up sticking a few sticks in the ground to help guide my cucumbers off of the cantaloupe and watermellow. My cucumbers are growing like crazy.
Now that would be something to see. LOL ...... Donald
Five Stars!!
@vnswamy2008 ... I use 8-8-8 at a rate of 8 lbs. per 100 ft. of row before planting. If you use a stronger fertilizer use less. I also use Miracle Grow in my water tank on areas I didn't fertilize......Donald
Oh "knot head" would love that......... Donald
Picked a tomato a couple of days ago that went 2 lbs. 1 oz. that beat my record..... Donald
Working with about 2 acres right now....... Donald
If we don't start getting some rain soon my thumbs will turn brown. LOL ..... Donald
4:25 Those are some of the, if not THE, largest tomato plants I've ever seen. What's the secret?
It's an heirloom variety "Coustralee" and I really don't recommend them. If you want 12 tomato plants better plant at least 36. They do produce huge tomatoes but just not worth the trouble....... Donald
You'll do just fine if you keep it simple......... Donald
@wingzofsteel ...Glad it helped.....Donald
Those are “Coustralee” but you may also want to try “Better Boy”….Donald
I'm jealous of your tomato plants. Mine look sickly compared to yours.
Not yet........ Donald
My tomatoes are all bad and i don't know why. They are still on the vine but the bottoms are all black and starting to rot. I don't know why is it the heat or do they have some kind of plague?? please help!
Nice tomatoes
awesome!!!!
Thanks : ) ....Donald
Tomatoes, cucumbers and maybe some peppers should do OK........ Donald
