    Had exactly these symptoms and an £84 re-gas sorted it out. Thanks for the video.

      Great news, looks like mine needs another top up, but it has been a few years since i did this video.

    Hi Joe, your video is very helpful. My XF V6 was an ex demo too. It has a lot of steam/mist building up on the screen and windows after a 15 mins drive. Also, the air conditioning doesn't blow cool air. I hope this should fix the problem. I will take it to a garage and hopefully it'll fix it.
    Thanks a lot.

    Nice video Joe. I have a MY 17 XF V6 and exactly the same problem. Will try regas and see how it goes! Hopefully does the trick

    I'd you were low on freon then you a clearly have a leak somewhere. I had the same issue on my 2016 XF and it turned out the ac gas was leaking from the valve where one tops up the gas. The entire pipe had to be replaced. AC gas never goes low unless you have a leak.

    • @joewoodford9428
      @joewoodford9428  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @JagFan Hilton, The AC was recharged last year and the XF has been nice and cold ever since. The AC unit will loose some gas over time, this is normal behaviour the internet has loads on this for all makes of vehicle. How quickly this happens depends on the seals and i guess the conditions the car is kept in. We just had a 32DegC couple of days in the UK and with AC set to 19.5DegC it was working well, the car was nice and cool.

    Did yours have a smelly air from the wents in hot days just after starting the car. Filter change didn't help air bombs ever....

      Hi Michael, nope did not have that issue, but have read others have a "wet Dog" smell from the AC system. Been it today (21DegC outside) and the car was nice and cool again 👍

    My AC has never worked in my XF. gad it regressed and serviced, but still never works. Basically just blows OAT. In summer it's awful

    • @joewoodford9428
      @joewoodford9428  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If they re-gassed the car then they usual put a dye into the gas to check for leaks. Did your garage do this for you and then look for leaks with a UV lamp? A badly leaking AC system will just degas quickly and you should see where the issue is.

    All my four dash vents ain't blowing, sometimes it blows warm but the rear Ac blows supe cold... winter standard... is it low on Freon ????

    • @joewoodford9428
      @joewoodford9428  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Swartz Benny, sounds like you have a bigger problem than low Freon. Might be worth taking the car to an AC specialist to see if there is another issue. I had a 5 Series BMW once where the resistor pack failed and no fans would run, the resistor pack was called a "Hedgehog" if you google it but is a Blower Motor Heater Resistor for the Climate Control. If they fail then no blowers work. Look them up I'm sure Jaguar may use something similar.

    I have a XF us premium luxury. Driver side blows cold passenger warm. The connection under the wheel I had to plug it and only use from under the hood. Last year when I had this done it would blow ice cold now I think today they’re saying the vents weren’t connected whatever that means.whatever they did now all of them blow air now where as the passenger didn’t at all but it isn’t cold any thoughts on what I should do if they cannot connect under the wheel and only under the hood?

    • @joewoodford9428
      @joewoodford9428  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cold air comes from the evaporator within the car. If the Freon is too low then you will get an imbalance in the cold air. It sounds like you have a LHD car (AKA not UK driving position). My issue was the left side car cool, right side warm. Topping up Freon meant both sides cold. Sound like you have low Freon levels. I don't understand what you mean by no longer have the under wheel connection point. Did you have this removed. To fill the AC properly you need a connection to both the low and high side of the system. Your garage should advice. Good luck !

    When you say Freon are you talking about the standard refrigerant that needs topping up or is it a different gas?

    • @joewoodford9428
      @joewoodford9428  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the car is an MY12, then any garage can top up the refrigerant and yes freon is the refrigerant. It’s possible to DIY this top up, but I wanted to get the system pressure tested so used my local inde garage.

      @Snub Nose, sounds like you have a bigger problem than low Freon. Might be worth taking the car to an AC specialist to see if there is another issue. If they fail or start to then no blowers work. Look them up I'm sure Jaguar may use something similar, this might why you get warm air and then it stops. My heaters heat-up until the cabin temp is reached as it is winter this can take a while until the engine is warm.

      Glad you found the issue out, though low antifreeze might be something you want to check, I'm not saying you have a head gasket leak but loosing coolant could point to either a cracked pipe or gasket issue.

      @joewoodford9428  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ Auto Trimmers, Hi, interesting question. I'm sure like most modern cars depends on what goes wrong. I've had the instrument cluster fail after 18months (the indicator clicker sound stopped) warranty repair, the inter-cooler fail (see past video on that) I believe its a known issue JLR paid 50% as it was just 3 yrs old by then, I've had the gear box oil changed due to mileage and age and will be changing the timing belt soon (again age). Then the re-gassing of the AC due to age. As it's the 2.2 D so far these are the major issues. I might be lucky or this could be how all this age of XF have faired. Its usually not the brands fault for problems but the OEM parts they fit. Hope this helps, if so please think to LIKE and sub... Cheers Joe

    I have something similar on my XF. Driver side blows COLD AIR but passenger side BLOWD WARM AIR.. You think might be the vents underneath the dash..? Any suggestions.? Tips..??

    • @joewoodford9428
      @joewoodford9428  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ Santiago Davila, Is the car LHD (US, Europe) or RHD (UK)? If LHD then its sounds like the same problem as I would imagine the AC system circuits feed the left side first then the right side. In my case the driver side was hot and passenger was cooler (UK). How old is the XF as they do loose Freon over time so a top-up might be a quick fix to see if that works? When they top up the Freon they usual add a UV die to help spot any leaks.

    • @santiagodavila1426
      @santiagodavila1426 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joe Woodford yes I’m in US Arizona.. so you think it ll need to charge Freon or one the under dash vent actuator is bad.? Any suggestions.?

    • @joewoodford9428
      @joewoodford9428  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Santiago Davila If it’s blowing hot air this was what my XF did on very hot days on the drivers side, So in Arizona its bound to be much worse. I think its worth getting re-gassed it should only be about $80-$100 to do, if you don’t go to a jag garage. As both High pressure and low pressure are easy to find and access I think any Auto shop should be able to do this! If this is not the fix then at least rule it out and it not too big a bill to pay. Chasing down the rest of AC system could get expensive.
