    Jaguar XF - Automatic open and closure of air vent.
    Has one of your air vents developed a fault by not opening? If so it could be that a plastic clip has failed in the vent unit itself. The vents are made by Denso and can be sourced as whole unit or the faulty plastic clip can be replaced.
    This video shows the vent unit out of the vehicle, the faulty part being replaced and then the vent being installed and tested.

    Thanks for this Joe, I just spent a small fortune replacing my right centre air vent at the dealer. It got damaged somehow prior to me buying the car a few years ago and got stuck one day - so I just decided to replace it - then the dealer damaged my aluminium panel on the dash and when replacing that, damaged the leather on my dash - a nightmare I would rather not go down again - I'd rather replace myself - thanks for the tutorial and huge money saving tip. I'm going to buy some of these clips just for good measure to keep them handy for when my other vents start giving trouble, which I'm sure they will

      Hi Thomas, yes that's for my phone. It will hold an iPhone and 6Plus on-wards. As it stands it works great, obviously you can not access the DVD or CD while in use!!!

    So if I replace the drivers side one will it make them all work?

    • @joewoodford9428
      @joewoodford9428  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Scott, there are two variations for this model of XF, ones that open and ones that are only always open. Check you infotainment panel menus and look to see if you can enable and disable this always open or auto close feature. if this not a option in the menus then your vehicle has only the "always open" design. Top end XF's had the auto open as standard aka the Premium Lux. I'm not sure about the other models sorry.

    • @joewoodford9428
      @joewoodford9428  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mostly the clutch unit I showed in the video. You can always take the air vent out and plug back in the actuator with out the levered vent unit removed and see if it turns when the Aircon is switched on and off. Or for £10 just buy the part and replace as it is mostly the issue. If this was helpful advice please Like and Subscribe :)

    Hi Joe, my airvent works well but i have another issue, when accelerating there is an annoying rattle from this airvent, i checked the screws and i fixed the cover properly after that, it occures mostly due to engine vibrations. Do you have any ideea what could it be?

    • @joewoodford9428
      @joewoodford9428  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Cristian, rattles are tricky especially if you are the driver to try to pin point them. This not an XF specific answer but a more general one. Have someone else in the front of the car to help pin point the issue. If the vents Auto open, then close them and see if the noise is still there (to close shut the AC systems off). When I took the vent off there was not much too it, the cable is wrapped in a foam tape to help with that kind of issue, so that would the place I would also look to see if there is a problem. I have also had issues with other NON JLR cars when you get a cracked windscreen and they replace them sometimes a shard of glass drops into the front demister vents, and this an impossible problem to sort out !! Out of interest which vents do think the problem is with?

    • @joewoodford9428
      @joewoodford9428  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @joewoodford9428
      @joewoodford9428  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not tried but if they are not raising then they do use the same plastic part. Removing the passenger side if more complicated, there are some old TH-cam videos showing this by other creators. I believe the metal fascia panel is held in place by some screw hidden under the dashboard, so you may need to remove / loosen the dashboard to get access to them. Good luck 🤞

    • @joewoodford9428

      Not sure of the issue if all vents don't try and move. There is a setting in the infotainment system which can be used to shut of the vents or leave them fully open. I guessing you have tried all the obvious setting to solve issue. If you just bought the XF speak with the garage or previous owner maybe they can shed some light on the issue. Your only other best option is contacting an Independent Jag garage. If you are UK based and near Reading/Bracknell there is good one there.

My problem is that the 4 ventilations are open. And i can change the temperatur on the display but the air temperatur not change. And i can change on the display where i want that come the air. But the air come only on the feets. Can some body help me what that can be?

    • @joewoodford9428
      @joewoodford9428  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kurt, if the AC is not cooling down the vehicle any more you might need to get the AC re-gassed. See my vlog on that. The other issue you have sounds like you have a major problem with the ventilation systems as you should be able to manually override where the air comes out from. I'm not sure about this but when was the pollen filter last changed and was it done properly. XF's test the incoming air and will auto recycle the air if they detect pollution, there are flaps which direct the air from the outside to use the air in the vehicle. I would check this area to see if there is something blocking this. Failing that try a Jag Independent garage for help.

      Just the one or all. The XF you can shut off all the vents from opening or closing.

    Thank for the video and have a look at your vlog. But could yoe, please, make the sound of the video some louder? My pc sound is on max but it is still barely intelligible.

      Sorry about that, it was recorded some years ago and the iPhone or camera I was using did not have great mic. Newer videos are better. The Audio was boosted in the video editing s/w. Try listen on headphone (sorry not ideal !). Thanks for watching.

    What's the name of that part exactly?

      Part No.: C2Z31321 I think they call it a "clutch" but not sure of that exactly. The Part number is correct and in the Text a link to a seller - I get no financial gains from this video BTW the link is just who I purchased it off.

      Sorry about that, nothing I can do as it was filmed with older equipment and even then the levels were boosted. If you want to listen to it a again with headphones it might help (just a suggestion).
