    The Zeus battle in Taito is one of the highlights of the game, so of course he's back for an encore in an endgame sidequest with everything cranked up to eleven. At first glance, it may seem like not much has changed besides significantly higher stats and the addition of Dekunda, but there are many less obvious factors that make this battle a lot more difficult for most players.
    At the start of the battle, Zeus appears to be similar to his Taito version, mostly alternating between Brave Blade/Panta Spane turns and Maziodyne turns. However, he uses basic attacks a lot less, especially when it comes to additional actions; in this battle, he will often use Maziodyne on the same turn as a Brave Blade critical, which he would never do in the previous battle. The other major difference is Dekunda, which he can use at any time if he ever has a total of three or more stages of stats debuffed. He’ll always follow that with Impaler’s Animus, then use Maziodyne (or rarely Keraunos) and Luster Candy on his next turn. While it’s possible to effectively lock him into this loop, that's not really worth it because of how MP-intensive that would be.
    After Zeus loses some HP, he gathers Magatsuhi and begins using Madness Glint. Like the previous battle, he usually follows this with Impaler’s Animus, but also uses Luster Candy sometimes. If Impaler’s Animus follows Madness Glint, then Zeus uses Maziodyne on his next turn, followed by another Maziodyne if he has more than half health or by either Keraunos or Panta Spane if he has less than half HP. Needless to say, the second half of this battle is drastically different because of this; each time Zeus uses Impaler’s Animus, he’s almost guaranteed to kill at least one demon on the next turn. Zeus’ skill patterns also open up significantly later in the battle, to the point where it might appear that there no longer are any restrictions and everything in his skillset is fair game. These new patterns include Luster Candy followed by Panta Spane or Maziodyne, Madness Glint followed by his other attacking skills, and more. When Zeus reaches low health, he gathers Magatsuhi a second time and enters his final phase, which is characterized by significantly increased Keraunos usage. He can even follow up Keraunos with Panta Spane, one of the most ridiculous skill combinations in the game.
    While Zeus was freed from some of the restrictions that kept him in check in the last battle, the game does provide an extremely important ally in return. Demeter joins with her signature skill Eleusinian Harvest, which is invaluable in this battle. Amanozako also makes her first appearance here as a solid Electric immunity, while Kali rounds out the team with great bulk and Omagatoki: Free, which is great since the Nahobino and Demeter go through a lot of MP in this battle. The Nahobino gets Floral Gust and double Force Pleromas for this battle along with Panic immunity, which helps with Madness Glint.
    One of the biggest keys to this battle is using Tarunda instead of Debilitate, which prevents Zeus from using Dekunda throughout the battle. Without it, it would be very difficult to keep Zeus in check without having to loop him into Dekunda and spending a ton of MP. The other key is surviving Impaler’s Maziodynes consistently, which the bonus 30% HP from Eleusinian Harvest is vital for. That’s just enough for Amanozako to handle them with maxed buffs and debuffs, but Demeter needs to guard on top of that to survive consistently. Elec Dampeners block the follow-up Maziodyne in the first half of the battle, but it gets a lot rougher later on when Zeus uses Keraunos or Panta Spane after that instead. Panta Spane is rarer but results in a team wipe if a Phys Dampener isn’t up, so it’s important to weigh the risks of not using one. I got away without using them here, but it only takes one Panta Spane for Zeus to end it all. That's what makes Zeus one of the nastiest bosses in any SMT game.

    Ah yes. Nightmares
    Zeus 2 always felt like some kind of IV endgame boss that spams pierce/almighty because fun game design. But realising there is a noticable pattern and building demons around it, my god it feels rewarding, and when I was putting my first attempts into Shiva I kinda noticed how similar these two function (basically, rob that second turn or else). While I still think Khonsu Ra as the 'best' boss in this game, this fight is great for a multitude of reasons.

      I think what's worse is how the game is designed; bosses in V rarely uses/have buff/debuff skills in their kit and instead had them built into the attack skills instead which does two jobs in one turn, and thus they're more dangerous, and the odd is always stacked against you because buff/debuff had a fixed 3 turns count even though so the pressure on it is extremely high and skills like Dekaja/Dekunda still exists for bosses.

    I find it amusing that you used Demeter in the fight against Zeus. Like, she was present to give you the mission, saw Zeus was about to attack, and went "OH, FUCK YOU BUDDY!" and jumped in.

    Zeus need to give Demeter the right ass beating for the bitch she was in Strange Journey.
    It's a shame how only at the very end of the game do boss fights become more interesting; more lethal and every victory doesn't mean that you've triumphed over them, it's just that you managed to survived another day. Zeus really step up his game compare to Odin whose difficulty is much worse than his Apocalypse counterpart. Jeesh.

    Fun story when I first entered the Empyrean on my journey to get each ending in this game (Started with Law) I came across this quest and thought it would be a simple re-fight to unlock his fusion.
    It took more attempts and time than probably all the Endgame fights minus Shiva of course (I was LV78 lol)
    Also shoutouts to Zues for being one of my Key Tankers and Attackers when I finally beat Demi-Fiend.

      Zeus 2 is while being the hardest non-superboss fight in the game is also probably one of the most fun fights in the game by far imo

    This battle oh my fucking record scratch. It is utterly insane with so many different ways he can put you on the brink. Quite possibly the hardest non-superboss in the game.
    Hoping Secret Neutral Lucifer packs a good fight with him here!

      @hoangthemanh4072 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Really doubt Neutral Lucifer could be a good fight since the Nahobino would be around level 90 by then, assuming he fight Shiva at level 80, after that he would get like 6 levels or something, combine with all the Empyrean exp will make his level skyrocket

    • @aly3392
      @aly3392 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@hoangthemanh4072 You have to remember that while sure the Nahobino is that level, many demons won't be close with there only being two demons in the 80s he could get. Lucifer in Phase 2 and Phase 3 could prove to be a far bigger challenge due to this.
      Also Empyrean exp isn't huge after Shiva is done at lv80, he might be around 86-87 but definitely not skyrocketing.
      Basically, judging how difficult this fight will be solely on the Nahobinos level disadvantage not being big here is not a good way of gauging difficulty with respect to this challenge run.

      You can fight Lucifer 2 on new game plus with Shiva beaten on a previous run and not the current run. That is the only way to make the fight interesting in a conventional playthrough.

      It did hit at least once or twice. It really does suffer without a combination of Dragon Eye, high agility, Sukukaja/Luster Candy x2 on the attacker, and Sukunda/Debilitate x2 on the target. Unfortunately, Kali does not learn Dragon Eye naturally, and her natural agility isn't at speed-demon levels...
