This was really helpful. I have put UEA as my insurance choice, so do I need to apply for accommodation? Also, when do the accommodation applications open? 💕
Glad it was helpful, thank you for watching! Normally you only apply for accommodation at your firm choice and only apply for accommodation at your insurance choice if you decline your firm. I think they open around march time but it can differ slightly between unis! xx
For some universities you can't apply for accommodation if its your insurance, however for UEA you can. And if you end up getting into your firm choice, they just discard your application . So yeh, apply :)
Hello, awesome video first of all. So if you get accommodation will you be with the people who do the same course with you, e.g. computer science or is the accommodation mixed with other people who do different courses.
Hey, thanks for watching my videos! Generally the accommodation is a random mix of people from all different courses! I was the only person who studied Geography in my flat, but there was three people in my flat on the same creative writing course so it really is quite random which I think is a good thing as you can then have different groups of friends easier!
Lia, thank you so much for your explanation!!! It helped me a lot to understand a little bit of UEA's accommodation in general. I would like to know if it's possible to apply after receveing a scholarship response (which I've applied already and only be able to know the answer on end of May)? Or do you recommend applying in anyway? I would apply for a international student accomod, so i don't know if theres a big difference in this case.
That's so exciting, best of luck with it all when the time comes! The moving in process was actually pretty smooth at UEA! I was super nervous but that's completely normal. I have a video up all about move-in day where I talk about some tips to settle in better and how to prepare for it which might be useful for you! th-cam.com/video/8UNQPJmfd4I/w-d-xo.html
Hi! Thanks for this video! I’m an Exchange student and going to UEA in January but I Find it really difficult to choose. What is the most social/best/convenient accomodation? :)
Hi, so sorry for the late reply! That's a really tricky question to answer as it depends who your flatmates are and changes each year! I would say in general, the Ziggurats are the most social or the standard en suite on campus, but wherever you choose I'm sure you'll have a great time :)
I got to uea constable terrace last week and I'm alone in my flat. No one has arrived currently and there's no group chat so I don't know who is coming here and when they're coming. Its sad
Awwh no I'm sorry to hear that! As the UK is currently in a lockdown, UK residents have been advised to stay at their family homes if they can, which is probably why it is so quiet at the moment, but I'm sure once lockdown is over people will start to come back! Have you joined the facebook group for your years cohort? xx
Hey i was wondering, i have a few questions for uea if you have any clue! 1. how do i look at the views of these room like you did, being able to look around 2. you probably don't know i am so sorry if its a stupid question! but do you know if its likely or unlikely to get into this uni? for a pharmacy course. they will give me an interview but i really badly want to go to this uni. thank you so much this video was very helpful :)
Hey! You can definitely cycle from Pablo to the uni! I would imagine it to take around 15 minutes depending how fast you cycle. It's a pretty direct route too, just straight up The Avenues
apparently theres a lot of second years in pablo fanque rather than first years. is that just because it opened this year?? so like by september, do you think there'll be a lot of first years?
I don't know a huge amount about that accommodation as it wasn't an option when I was in first year but I should imagine you would be correct in thinking they'll be more first years there this year! I would still recommend being on campus in first year but if you fancy being in the city then that is a good option
Hello, does the en suite rooms comes with a wardrobe? I didn't really see where should I put my clothes at. PS: ANY INTERNATIONAL COMING IN JANUARY 2024???(im from Chile)
I don’t suppose you know what accommodation is like for postgraduates? Ideally I’d like an on campus accommodation with a larger postgraduate community
Hii , is it true that all the kitchens in constable terrace are on the the ground floor.. it won’t make sense because I’m in the top floor so I’ll have to walk to walk all the way downstairs to get food..?😢 I thought the was a kitchen on each floor
Hi there, constable terrace and nelson court have kitchens on the ground floor with the rooms above rather than being all on one floor. It might seem a bit annoying having to walk down to the kitchen all the time but I don't think it'll be as bad as you might be expecting! If anything it could be a blessing in disguise as you won't hear all the noise from the kitchen and should be able to get a better sleep!
Hi, can you tell me where Med students are accommodated please. I read on the website somewhere that they try to keep them together and only in certain halls.
The standard accommodation licence ends on 27th June 2022 so I think that would be around 38-40 weeks. But some courses last a bit longer if you have placements in the final semester e.g. some health science courses
Hi - going to UEA as an exchange student next semester - wanted some info on living on vs off campus. Im in my third year - is campus mostly first years ??
Hey! Thanks for this. Hoping to stay in the standard campus accommodation but there’s not a lot of info on it, pictures and video wise, do you know where I can find someone who stayed there? Just found out it’s Orwell and Wolfson? 😅 whatever that is.
Hey, I unfortunately don't know anyone who stayed there and I know it's so annoying there isn't many photos around at all! I tried to find some when I put together this video but really struggled. I walk past Orwell on my way to the library and from what I can see it's a pretty small accommodation I think maybe 6-8 people live in a block but the kitchens don't look too dis-similar to the other accommodation, just a bit smaller! You could try contact the accommodation office to ask if they have any more photos? their email is accom@uea.ac.uk
Hey, that's so exciting!! Yeah there are a few different jobs you can apply for on campus such as in the shop, the bar and the coffee shops. I'd look on the su website to keep an eye out for upcoming vacancies. I'd also recommend signing up to be a student worker when you arrive in September and you can apply to work things like open days, campus tours and accommodation tours which are so easy and really good pay! xx
Hi, yes of course! International students have the same opportunities as everyone else in regards to jobs. There could be some places to become a student worker, or work on campus in the shop or bar, or there are lots of part time jobs in the city centre such as in bars or restaurants
hi ! I’m going to study at uea in September 2021 as an international student (from France) and I would like to apply for an accommodation on campus. But I’m scared I won’t have a room.. do you know when we usually get the answer from the university (on whether we have a room or not) ? because I think I saw it was in late August for international students😩
Hey, that's so exciting!! I'm not 100% sure what the process for accommodation is for international students. I would be very surprised if you didn't get allocated a room as UEA has lots of accommodation, but if you are worried then it might be worth emailing the accommodations office for some reassurance! There was another girl called Marine who commented on my 'living off campus q&a' who is also coming from France! Maybe you could comment on her comment and see if she has also not heard back yet xx
@@LiaSophie Marine is my friend, we are coming from the same university haha! I finally emailed the accommodation office and as an exchange student (not international I was wrong), I will be offered a room if I apply before the deadline. Thanks for your answer!
@@valentinem6441 hi - this is super random since you commented this a year ago but i'll probably study at UEA this fall for a semester abroad as an exchange student and i wanted to ask if you might have any tips etc for me and just general information about your experience there etc (:
