    Can confirm Russell Group uni thing is a myth - I think created by A-Level students? Went to UEA, loved it. Got job I wanted once I graduated, gone from maxing out my overdraft to buying a house in London - going to UEA helped, not hindered me. Some of the graduates in my team went to Russell Group and they didn't seem to enjoy uni as much as I did. I wouldn't go outside the top 30-ish if you can, though, personally because as an employer I do look at this and most universities outside the top 5 bounce around a lot (and this is more common the further down you go). I think UEA was 12th when I graduated 5 years ago and has already dropped a bit (and I'm sure will re-bound again). If you do go to a lower ranked uni, you may just have to try that bit harder to get in the door but it will happen if you persevere. Get such nostalgic feelings watching UEA videos, it really was fab there. My first housemate in London went to Cambridge and he did not enjoy it much. The only stories he had when a couple of his coursemates came round is about studying 12-16 hours a day. Really drab. I highly recommend UEA to anyone, or any university which you think you will actually enjoy despite its ranking/academics. You'll soon realise after graduation that how much fun you had outweighs academia. Norwich is lovely too, have been back for weekend trips a number of times since.

      League tables are so annoying. You say employers check to see where universities are in the league tables. When I applied to UEA it was in the top 15 and now it's like 26th, and i have no control or power over that. If i graduate, considering employers do look at the top 30, it will look a lot better if UEA is 12th, but there's a chance it could be outside the top 30 (hopefully not) and this is going to go against me as a result. How is that fair? Also, people chose uni's according to how well their degree ranks, UEA is one of the top uni''s for creative writing, but when applying to a job that isn't related to creative writing, the employers won't consider this?

    • @yourguy382
      @yourguy382 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aimeegardner9736 They might consider its rank for specific subjects if what you are doing is quite specific. The top 30 is just a rough guide, wouldn't stress about it if you can put together a strong application. And then the real big deal is how you come across in interviews.

    Is it possible to get into UEA's Geography or environmental science courses with only one of the reqiured A levels...that being geography....because im doing Geography, Philosophy and English lit for a levels but my heart is set on geography etc.

    • @LiaSophie
      @LiaSophie  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes definitely!! I think you need at least BBB and to have done one of the required subjects, so if you're doing geography that's fine! I did art, geography and biology but have never needed to know anything I learnt in biology, and a lot of my friends only did geography as the required one. Best of luck!! (You can find the entry requirements here: www2.uea.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/degree/detail/ba-geography?UG2021RE_part_c&gclid=Cj0KCQjw3s_4BRDPARIsAJsyoLNLvCfLx3kHnuma0a0llqTeu0cgi5EXuayEHoiJPWas0LYhYLpA5VoaAhnhEALw_wcB)

      I've been so anxious about it even though I have a while yet until Uni...I like to plan ahead. My sixthform had a subject clash and I had to choose between biology or geography....I was so concerned that not doing biology would affect me terribly....but thank you sooooooo much you have saved me a ton of worry! New sub...your art is incredible btw, My bestfriend is doing A level art so I'll recommend your channel to her. Thanks again!

      @@tiannavivianroberts3847 No worries at all! I asked one of my friends who does environmental science what a levels she did and the only one from the list she did was Geography so you should be fine as long as you reach the grade requirements! If you're really concerned it might be a good idea to contact UEA directly, but I shouldn't think it would be an issue and there was nothing that I learned in biology A Level that I needed for my geography degree. Awwh thank you so much that means the world!! x

      The course facilities are really good at UEA! There is a brand new science building that recently opened and has excellent labs and classrooms inside. The course has a focus on practical work (where possible) and tries to integrate field work too which keeps the course engaging! You can also get support finding a job and writing a CV etc. from 'Careers Central' on campus if you wish to ask for it!

      That’s a really good question actually I should’ve spoken about that in the video! Yes you do have to pay for the LCR but it’s really well priced considering you don’t need to get a taxi either. It’s £4 on a Tuesday (damn good night) and £6 on a Saturday (a list) and you buy them through the SU website. Damn good doesn’t usually sell out unless it’s Halloween or something so you should be okay to buy it on the day, but a list does usually sell out a couple days before so I’d buy tickets early because they’re always so easy to sell on the ticket exchange Facebook if you don’t end up going! Hope that all makes sense!! Xx

      There are a variety of part time jobs available for students studying at UEA. You can work on campus in the shop, the su bar or on club nights. There are also opportunities to work as a student ambassador or work doing tours on open days. Alternatively, there are many shops and restaurants in the city of Norwich that will recruit students, or the football club is a popular place for UEA students to work.
