The Very Secret Society for Irregular Witches was one of my favorites this year! A mix of The House in the Cerulean Sea (my all time favorite) and Practical Magic ✨
I started reading middle grade books because of you! And I'd like to recommend a book to you. The Last Bear by Hannah Gold. It's a beautiful story about the friendship between a little girl and a polar bear. It's a beautiful story! I sobbed in the end. I'm 100% sure you're gonna love this book!
Because of Alexandra I don't feel ashamed to read middle grade as an adult. The last bear is still on my bookshelf, definitely want to pick it up soon. Do you have Goodreads? I need more friends that read middle grade☺
Yay I’m so glad you’re going to read A Series of Unfortunate Events! It’s the series that fueled my love for reading as a kid! You’re going to love it!!🎉
🦊 I am a bit obsessed with spooky middle grade. My personal favorites for fall are: What lives in the woods by Lindsay Currie The Haunting of Aveline Jones by Phil Hickes The Halloween Moon by Joseph Fink The Halloween Tree by Ray Bradbury The Circus of Stolen Dreams by Lorelei Savary Nooks and Crannies by Jessica Lawson
Have you read The Mystery of Black Hollow Lane? It’s a middle grade set during the fall! I really like the fall descriptions it has, I think you would like it 😊
I also really want to read "Cackle" and "The Girl in White" because of Desi and "The Dead Romantics" because of Liv from Liv's Library 😂 I even made a list of the favorite fall book recommendations from my favorite youtubers and honestly it's getting longer and longer😂 Anyway, I can't wait to hear your opinion of all these amazing books Lexi🦊
I'm happy to see Brom in a book haul. I hardly ever see his stuff on booktube, but it's absolutely delightful. The unique artwork combined with spooky fairy tales is just so good! 🦊
Gris Grimly is a penname! He's actually a pretty famous children's book illustrator. I think he's worked with Neil Gaiman a few times on some of his children's books.
I've totally been binge watching your videos lately - you have the perfect spooky/fall recommendations for all ages (middle grade, YA, adult)! Thank you for always letting us know about these books
The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy is such a perfect cozy read. It's one of my favorite reads of this year and I already want to reread it. I hope we get more books in this world. A very secret Society of irregular witches is such a sweet found family book as well. Such a subtle magical read. Love it. Had to edit my comment, because Oh My God - Nettle and Bone is amazing as well. You have such a great haul here. Have fun!
Normally I dislike fall, (and my favorite season is spring) but your Autumnal book hauls and aesthetic made me fall in love with fall again and excited
My favorite spooky reads (not new releases) are Anna Dressed in Blood (favorite ghost story), The Thickety series (spooky forest, creepy children, grimoires), and The Archived Series (a library of the dead!)
🦊The Book Eaters sounds intriguing 🤔 added to my TBR👍I'm not really into ghosts, magic, witches, BUT last year at about this time I read Her Fearful Symmetry. It is so original & ghosty 👻 (adult.) I have a lot of murder mysteries on my Fall TBR: The Sanatorium, The Things We Do In the Dark, A Flicker in the Dark, The Turn of the Key, The It Girl 🕵️♀️😯🔦
Here for the Lindsay Puckett praise! Love her channel and the Glass Witch promises so much in the description (a curse! A pageant! A character discovering self-confidence!).
A favourite cozy mystery series of mine is "A magical bakery mystery" by Bailey Cates. It has witches, familiars, baking and murders and it is set in Savannah. I also just got "Nettle and Bone" a definite read for spooky season .
Slewfoot was amazing and I think it will totally fit your vibes. I was shocked to see Eric LaRocca in your list, that's gonna be an experience for you. 🤣

I will tell you that The Series of Unfortunate Events is an amazing series- I’ve read it through 3 times! Another series you might like is The Dragon Chronicles by Susan Fletcher. The first three need to be read together, but the fourth book called Ancient, Strange, and Lovely is great on its own
Great video, The Last Magician series is great historical fiction series full of action amd magic, it is about a girl who goes back in time to save magic by saving the last magician from a horrible doom

I read The Dead Romantics last week and loved it. It did make me cry quite a bit, my mom died 3 years ago so a lot of things the character was experiencing and feeling really took me back to the days leading up to and right after her funeral. But other than the unexpected tears it was a great read. I also got The Girl In White from my library after watching Darling Desi's video and im so excited to read it.
