Interesting note in case no-one else knew, Corpse Explosion's healthbar damage stacks for each corpse explosion used on an enemy, if you use 1, it'll do that full healthbar, if you use 2, it'll do 2 healthbars, 3 for 3, so on and so forth.
Not really useful in practice, unfortunately. It would be good against the bosses and elites who summon adds, but that's not a good enough reason to have more than one corpse explosion in your deck (which is the only realistic way to stack the aoe effect in those fights).

Great video, funny and insightful at the same time. I like Silent the most but it's damn tricky to build correctly, many cards rely on others to be good.
Catalyst - it's obviously not a card you take with every deck, however my most dominant builds/wins are typically catalyst decks, so it's a card I rank high, however it's obviously not a card you take with every deck. While I typically don't force builds, catalyst is sometimes the exception... I sometimes take catalyst hoping to force a catalyst deck (which acts as a curse card, until you can get a poison deck going). Catalyst is a card that could almost be a 2 cost card and I would understand. So it's difficult to rank. If you look at it from the perspective of most dominant builds, it's probably the strongest card in the deck, but overall it's a circumstantial card and definitely not an auto take card, so it's difficult to rank.
Honestly re: finisher at 50:30 ish, I had a hand where there were 3 blade dances+ with accuracy already set up, and finisher was just the cream on top. It was a beautiful fight.
Tbh I feel offended by putting sneaky strike below f tier. I probably take it as often in the early game as some other strike+ cards, silent can surprisingly support the card with just 1 or 2 extra cards and it has double strike value, nearly triple upgraded. probably high D or low C tier for me edit: Also, the card benefits from bad draws because if u draw 4 defends and need lethal, sneaky strike is still 3 energy deal 12, so it has some density value even without synergy. Obviously, the value is garbage, but it's a last-resort niche, not the main point of the card.
Sneaky Strike is usually not pickable late game, but I really like seeing it in act 1 if I've already taken stuff like dagger throw or acrobatics. It's also a fun card to take Snecko eye with, granted silent doesn't have a whole lot of cards that like Snecko.
my first heart kill was as the silent with 2-3 upgraded catalysts and 2 bouncing flasks, in addition to a few misc poison cards- whatever I thought would work at the time. I ended up stacking over the amount of poison that the heart was allowed to take by round 2.
I got into this game recently and I found this video and I do love this list it helped me with learn about power level and scaling my first deck I ever played with this class was a discard deck and it was nuts and it was my first win
I recently beat the heart on ascension 20 for the first time. Despite having 35 cards, I kind of felt like the deck was just my two wraith forms, after image, 3 caltrops, and 5 piercing wails with a runic pyramid from act 1. Everything else kind of felt like whatever. Even the blade dance with kunai + fan + shuriken just felt like it was along for the ride.
Btw, I watched this one after doing a shiv run with the gain block card, and it was so incredibly easy for even me that I had to watch this video to see what you said about them
@@kamilrichert8446 I think that's basically what C tier is for: Cards with high potential value that don't actually help you unless you have the right setup. I feel like most of the C tier wound up being situational cards. All the cards that suck even with setup were below C tier.
A bit of a mald on Thousand Cuts. In a poison deck, yeah, it's a worse Noxious Fumes. The thing it brings to the table is adding AOE to shiv decks that already have a Cloak and Dagger or two, and at least one Blade Dance. I think it can be hard to play sometimes, but when you need AOE in a shiv deck it's very helpful. Also, to a lesser extent than Caltrops, it allows you to do damage when you don't have spare mana to play offensive cards. I'd probably put it in low B, since I think it's really bad in poison decks, but isn't better than Die Die Die unless the fight is long.
Just found this channel and wow I love how you blend your great explanations with really funny bits. You also brought up so many funny card situations that I ran into too. Can you do a tier list of relics?
BACKSTAB should be higher as taking it early enables you to retain crucial hit points. Hit points are the bane of Silent and so many times I'm using all of the rest areas to heal and not upgrade. Early upgrades also save hit points. So give me 2x backstabs a blade dance and cloak and dagger[upgraded hopefully] and Im upgrading all the time. Later on the synergy with Kunai, the fan, ninja and shuriken relics along with after image is phenomenal. You start your combat with 2 or 3 Strength, dexterity and umpteen block sets you up for the remainder of combat. Of course its a one use card but that in itself means your deck is smaller after first draw.
I'd argue that Setup is actually good, especially in thinner decks or decks with a lot of rotation. If you have a draw card on hand, it's good for making cards you want to play ASAP more accessible, but you can also make cards you don't currently want or need to play cost 0, and then play them when they come back around to you, since according to the card description, they _should_ remain costing 0 until they are played, even if they're reshuffled into the draw pile again from your hand. It can also let you delay playing cards, for a chance to get better synergies in your hand on your next turn, like a bootleg retain effect. Setup+ provides a lot of free situational versatility and is very rarely a useless card to have on hand. It needs other cards to be _immediately_ useful, but it's always great for setting things up.
The best thing about acrobatics is the discard 1. The discard synergy with sneaky strikes/eviscerates wins act one pretty easily. The draw 3 becomes way better later game. Which is basically what Frost said lmao
I found something interesting today. If the Envenom power is active, BANE will always hit twice. That's important to know, it makes bane a lot more consistent IMO.
Bouncing Flask deserves a higher spot. Its a good bit of poison, boosted immensely by Snecko Skull, and absolutely SLAUGHTERS with Sadistic Nature, but even without all that, I find it one of the more satisfying poison cards.
I think bouncing flask is good, but it's too situational. There's better ways to apply poison, and in group fights the randomness is often really bad. If I started with Snecko skull, or specimen, or any of the poison relics I would take it more, but it's kinda iffy as of right now.
@@LGMSTR-bx6bo Yeah I can see how it’s on technical terms a worse option than some, but imma honestly admit... I just really fucken like it, the animation and shit, really puts a smile on my face hahah, so I may be a little bias here
I personally catalyst is S tier because I had a run where I killed awoken boss in 3 turns, first turn: used poison twice, second turn: use 3 catalyst this killed first stage of boss, third turn: used a catalyst and then used a duplication potion to double effect basically 2 catalyst, then used my last catalyst, all these are upgraded so each catalyst tripled, I do agree I did get lucky but It was mostly just smart deck building, personally I think catalyst is really useful all the time, you just have to make a deck focused on it, honestly think he was wrong, if you get a ton of catalyst.
I just want to say that this tierlist helped me finally pass a run with the silent, it was a venom build. The main combo was Envenom + Sadistic Nature. Sadistic Nature it's nuts with poison.
I use choke with acrobatics and bullet time. Acrobatics helps you draw into choke/bullet time, whichever you need. Then you have a 9 card hand that lets choke deal a shit ton of damage. Especially if you have a blade dance or two in your hand. You can choke one enemy and focus attack the other enemies and choke will kill on its own.
I think defaulting to looking at the upgraded versions of cards is borderline irresponsible. Like, saying that Dagger Spray is "1 mana, 12 damage AoE" is a bit silly. I'd guess that probably like 70+% Dagger Sprays in A20H winning decks are unupgraded.
To be fair dagger spray is a decent upgrade since Silent doesn't have that many great AoE cards unless you get Corpse Explosion, and it helps you get through Slime Boss most of the time, so Dagger Spray is a bad example, if you pick it up, you usually want to upgrade it too , in act one.
I was initially shocked by Sneaky Strike's ranking because I just had a great heart-killing run with them, but then I remembered that they were so good because I had a bottled Tools of the Trade, so they were basically just boosted Slice cards.
Amazing content you provide. Everytime I watch any of your videos I automatically pass from 60% wr against the bosses from the third act to get killed in the middle of the second world. Great content! 👍 xD Old dog doesnt learn new tricks I guess.
I beat the Heart for the first time today, and it was with ma main gurl Silent. Really loving this game, started 2 weeks ago. This video has been incredibly helpful. I don't think I would've been able to beat the Heart without watching it.
Personally Eviscerate has some great uses for me, the deck that wants it isn't that common buut, if you've got a discard deck that cycles a lot (a recent run had a reflex, tactician+, two acrobatics, a prepared+, some dagger throws etc.) having a 0 cost way to deal big damage can make that deck shred enemies to pieces while letting you use your tactician energy to play more draw cards. Very niche and I think C tier is right, but there are times when eviscerate really shines. a couple stars have to align, sure, but it has its moments.
I'll happily take a floor 1 eviscerate these days, just because Silent's starting damage is so miserable and eviscerate is a passable card into any act 1 elite. If I see it later than that it really depends on what my deck is doing.
Catalyst and Corpse Explosion can wreck. It's easy to overvalue Catalyst and to try to make it work when it won't. It's still good if it applies say 10 or 12 poison in hallways, though obviously you want more for bosses. If it's just a crappy Deadly Poison, hopefully you can just play something else that turn. In a lot of decks, the best case easily justifies the deck space.
had a phenomenal shiv/poison build recently: ennervate, victimize, wrist launcher, thousand cuts. each hit from a shiv dealt 17 targeted dmg, 7 aoe dmg, and 2 poison.
For Dash vs Cloak and Dagger, something else to note is just how well Dash matches up against Act 1 elites. Vs the Lagavulin, C&D suffers a lot more from strength and dex loss, vs the Gremlin Nob it's a way to block without the Gremlin Nob gaining strength, and vs the Sentries it's enough on its own to fully block one Sentry attack, as well as being more value-dense when you reshuffle and are limited more by dazes than energy. Without that fact (say act 2, and you don't have a necronomicon or sneko eye) I'd put them about on par for a non-shiv deck.
i think if sneaky strike worked like a reverse eviscerate and depending on the amount of times you’ve discarded in a single turn, you’ll get a certain amount of energy return
I didn’t know how good well laid plans was until I picked it one time in a hallway fight reward because the other two cards were absolute garbage and I didn’t have a very big deck. I won that run so easily 😂
I find it funny how he says act 3 hallway fights last longer than the other two acts, because for me I always find its act 2 ones that take ages for me.
It really depends on the boss, but I actually think it's pretty good against the heart if you can get it in play quickly. It always procs because heart never blocks, and it pretty much trivializes the artifact stacks which can be really important if piercing wail is how your deck deals with the multihits.
Okay so Sneaky Strike has sick synergy with Bullet Time and / or setup and / or Monkey Paw where playing it will gain you 2 energy. Let me just tell you that running deck where you can pull off x2 sneaky strikes at 0 cost into an X-cost card is probably the biggest dopamine hit this game has to offer.
Doppelganger+Skewer is like one of the few good Doppelgangers. And yeah, still pretty sad without chemx, and Adrenaline + Skewer is almost as strong and much much more flexible.
Do I agree with all of these rankings? No. Do I rely on these rankings? Not a ton. What is *invaluable* is seeing his brain works and seeing the things he weighs when it comes to evaluating these cards. It's been a game changer.
Counterpoint for Sneaky Strike: You have no idea how many times I've managed to give myself free energy by playing setup on sneaky strike and then going acrobatics. Or how much mileage I got out of this card with tools of the trade. It's definitely not the best because you do need to have that 2 energy to play it without setup and 12/16 isn't THAT much damage for a single card later on in the game, but damn is it fun to successfully pull off and clutch playing all your cards in one turn with just enough energy. Definitely no lower than a C tier for me.
I feel line Envenom is only ever bloat, if you have enough shivs to trigger it to deal a decent amount of poison, you don't need poison, and if your running poison, there are better poison cards.
@@steamtasticvagabond474 What about the fact that most artifact's in the game are on either things with block, or where breaking it is unimportant. and there are so many better things for breaking artifact on the silent.
Blade dance easily outclasses die die die, because each individual blade can scale. +1 strength on blade dance is +4 damage, from 16 damage to 20. Die die die increases to 18. +1 strength isn’t much, but in decks which can consistently throw out buffs, blade dance scales 4x as fast as die die die
Can someone explain to me why Wraith Form is good? it looks awful to me and I have beaten A20 3 times before. Invincibility this turn and the next, for 3 mana? Enemies don't even attack half the time, so it's like invincibility for one turn, I have to draw it on that turn, I'm screwed if the fight goes longer because of -dex ... it just sounds situational, unreliable, and mediocre.
It's good because... it's 2(3) turns of invincibility. You can spend those turns completely ignoring block cards and focusing on offense. I can't think of a single important fight in the game where that isn't very strong. This isn't even taking synergies into consideration; many of which are strong enough to make the dex debuff basically irrelevant.
Interesting note in case no-one else knew, Corpse Explosion's healthbar damage stacks for each corpse explosion used on an enemy, if you use 1, it'll do that full healthbar, if you use 2, it'll do 2 healthbars, 3 for 3, so on and so forth.
Holy sheet
Not really useful in practice, unfortunately. It would be good against the bosses and elites who summon adds, but that's not a good enough reason to have more than one corpse explosion in your deck (which is the only realistic way to stack the aoe effect in those fights).

Perhaps after the cards tier list is done, there could be a relic tier list
That would be hilarious
Yes please
He'd have to make 4 relic tier lists, one for each character.
th-cam.com/video/XABAGNfsZNU/w-d-xo.html
my first heart kill was as the silent with 2-3 upgraded catalysts and 2 bouncing flasks, in addition to a few misc poison cards- whatever I thought would work at the time. I ended up stacking over the amount of poison that the heart was allowed to take by round 2.
I got into this game recently and I found this video and I do love this list it helped me with learn about power level and scaling my first deck I ever played with this class was a discard deck and it was nuts and it was my first win
I recently did 1500 poison in one turn with nightmare + catalyst
All the credit to nightmare for making it happen I had no idea it could be so good
Or Burst + Catalyst
Same but cheaper
I recently beat the heart on ascension 20 for the first time. Despite having 35 cards, I kind of felt like the deck was just my two wraith forms, after image, 3 caltrops, and 5 piercing wails with a runic pyramid from act 1. Everything else kind of felt like whatever. Even the blade dance with kunai + fan + shuriken just felt like it was along for the ride.
Btw, I watched this one after doing a shiv run with the gain block card, and it was so incredibly easy for even me that I had to watch this video to see what you said about them
Caltrops is really strong against two of the act 1 bosses too and silent can really struggle against them.
10:18 “backstab” was the most Chicago/Wisconsin/Minnesota accent I’ve ever heard in my life 😂 I love this guy
I feel like each card needs three different situational ratings: "early game", "with synergy", and "without much/any synergy".
While i'd gladly watch a video 3x as long as this, i dont think frost and anrews sanity would agree.
a tier "good if in synergy" would solve the problem imo
Thanks to these videos I got my first heart kill on the silent today. Only took me 1Hr 41min and 3 wraith forms
Your Ironclad ratings got me from A18 through A20. Looking forward to seeing the same here for Silent.
Realizing that “one draw” means nothing usually shouldn’t have blown my mind
Finisher is a straight up jam in a deck with multiple blade dances. If you can pop off 12 shiv cards and use finisher it's pretty satisfying
The best thing about acrobatics is the discard 1. The discard synergy with sneaky strikes/eviscerates wins act one pretty easily. The draw 3 becomes way better later game. Which is basically what Frost said lmao
draw 3/4 is also good early game for zero cost cards and concentrate
"why isn't [insert card here] higher/lower?! Frost literally stupid poopoo head reeeeeee!!!" -wrong opinion gang
I found something interesting today. If the Envenom power is active, BANE will always hit twice. That's important to know, it makes bane a lot more consistent IMO.
Shiv’s are truly spectacular now, Ive had some CRRRRRRIIIISSSPPYYY runs with shivs lately
Ive been screwed over way to many times by taking an early riddle with holes and doing 1×5 damage for 2 mana after the lagavulin debuff.
i've done well with riddle with holes in a shiv deck as insurance against time eater.
I just really fucken like it, the animation and shit, really puts a smile on my face hahah, so I may be a little bias here
Gosh I hope we get more of these long form videos
Feel like if terror applied one vulnerable per turn rather than all up, it would be so good
It would further fulfill my sadistic nature meme dreams
"Recently shivs got an upgrade"
IPad: Am I a joke to you?
5-head here, can confirm Grand Finale is still hard as hell to use.
Whelp, I didn't have time for an hour and a half video, but I guess I can make an exception.
👍 xD
Old dog doesnt learn new tricks I guess.
i found ur channel and now i cannot stop watching ur content
I Love how everytime he puts a card in a tier theirs a floop sound effect
I beat the Heart for the first time today, and it was with ma main gurl Silent. Really loving this game, started 2 weeks ago. This video has been incredibly helpful. I don't think I would've been able to beat the Heart without watching it.
Personally Eviscerate has some great uses for me,
the deck that wants it isn't that common buut, if you've got a discard deck that cycles a lot (a recent run had a reflex, tactician+, two acrobatics, a prepared+, some dagger throws etc.) having a 0 cost way to deal big damage can make that deck shred enemies to pieces while letting you use your tactician energy to play more draw cards.
Man, you are genius! Beat the Heart in first run! Was not able to do it for 140+ hrs!
A Thousand Cuts is really fun in Mummified Hand runs. You can just overload your deck with a bunch of power cards and loop.
I had a run this morning where masterful stab cost 25 energy against the heart. Pretty big
I've been waiting on this, perfect timing I can listen at work. Thanks frost
Hovering kite + tools of the trade and reflex/tactician deck is my favorite thing in this game
Do not underestimate how strong choke is in a heavy draw deck with zero cost cards or a discard deck
Great video. Just found your channel. Love slay the spire!
i think if sneaky strike worked like a reverse eviscerate and depending on the amount of times you’ve discarded in a single turn, you’ll get a certain amount of energy return
but even then a draw is more useful
Catalyst most op card imo.
Literally earlier today I beat True Ending A20, with catalyst and burst, Applies like 240 poison in 1 turn ._.
I literally just won a run because of Sneaky strike. I was using a heavy discard deck and it worked fantastic
I'm disapointed. Why there is no G tier for Grand Finale? It's a such meme it should have its own tier like Claw or Clash.
Catalyst is SS+ tier
I didn’t know how good well laid plans was until I picked it one time in a hallway fight reward because the other two cards were absolute garbage and I didn’t have a very big deck. I won that run so easily 😂
Yes sometimes you just need to pick a card and see what happens, you can't figure everything out just by reading the description.
Playing the silent with a dead branch, a bunch of shivs/storm of steel and bullet time is some of the most whack games i have played
I find it funny how he says act 3 hallway fights last longer than the other two acts, because for me I always find its act 2 ones that take ages for me.
The cut at the beginning was excellent
i lost 5 games before this video finished : )
Funny how tierlists makes you understand the character better than guides in yt 🧐
i'm the type of trash that takes like 5 backstabs
AND upgrades them.
"I dont know what lies ahead, but it better have no more than 75 HP"
@@MisterL777 xDDD
I think Envenom is great with shivs in boss fights specifically, where that damage can REALLY add up.
Catalyst is POG. I once had a run where I had four upgraded and a poison cloud. Could practically oneshot anything
I like how he didn't even say anything about Wraith Form, just put it in W tier
Finally let's gooooo! I've been waiting for this!
Thanks for this! Got me back into the game
Do I agree with all of these rankings? No. Do I rely on these rankings? Not a ton. What is *invaluable* is seeing his brain works and seeing the things he weighs when it comes to evaluating these cards. It's been a game changer.
He reviews Setup immediately after I take setup.. then pickup well laid plans in the shop. Time to find wrist blade lmao
Also, Vulnerable A tier. Because silent gets plenty of artifact killers. Heck Neutralize to start. Great in Act 1 & 3.
What about its use for breaking through artifact, allowing you to apply weaken or other status effects much sooner?
@@steamtasticvagabond474 What about the fact that most artifact's in the game are on either things with block, or where breaking it is unimportant.
and there are so many better things for breaking artifact on the silent.
10:19
That’s…. A Caesar salad?! As in, Caesar was stabbed in the back 😂
Edit: I now realize he figured it out too lmao
I do agree with wraith form deserving its own tier, especially when upgraded. It can carry almost any run.
Blade dance easily outclasses die die die, because each individual blade can scale. +1 strength on blade dance is +4 damage, from 16 damage to 20. Die die die increases to 18. +1 strength isn’t much, but in decks which can consistently throw out buffs, blade dance scales 4x as fast as die die die
blade dance has a lot of synergy but die die die doesn't
I disagree with sneaky strike, only because that's how I won the heart with a discard deck
25:33 no Frosty I don't think I'd be able to stack 1500 poison without a bunch of Catalysts haha
