Good to see you back. This time in English! That’s great! Please read this comment Matthias. I found out in Erwin (the Skoda maintenance portal for independent garages) that there were four recalls of which three are called 3.0.7 (O4A1, O4A2, O4A3), and one is called 3.1.1 (O4A4). I received 04A1 in my car about 3 weeks ago. That updates the ICAS1. And it took about 50 minutes! That’s also mentioned in the release notes. Recall 04A2 updates the BMCe, recall 04A3 updates both (icas1 and BMCe). O4A4 updates only the BMCe. Detail info: ICAS1 (DA0019) SW0258 -> SW0261 and BMCe (008C) SW1030 -> SW1041 I also received the update you are referring to on this video. But that update took only about a minute, and only introduces the software version button in the screen (and probably some minor things). I don’t think that’s the 3.0.7. And here comes the interesting part: when both control units are updated it gives a better information regarding faulty LG-battery's (PR-nr. LX0/LX6) that have a (too) high level of self-discharge. The customer is presented with an error on the screen that they need to visit the garage. Maybe this update had a higher priority than functional update to 3.1 and 3.2?
Thanks for your detailed answer. I do not have access to Erwin as of now so this is really helpful and explains a lot. Will pick this up in one of the next videos regarding the updates! And of course you are correct. The update shown in the video is not O4A1! But i did not got this and still waiting so i thought another update might do the trick to start the video and have the discussion about update politics and communication. I should have known my community better. They will notice this immediately :D
Good to hear from you again Matthias and thank you for this video. Honestly the subtitles never really bothered me too much, but you are obviously investing in the channel so good luck. To answer your question, no I will not get another Skoda. I got my iV80 in June 2021 as soon as they were available here in the UK and I love driving the car. However the car was released too soon before the systems had been properly developed. The fact that our hardware is not compatible with ME4 shows that they are now correcting that mistake, but they have not explained anything to us. I have lost faith in Skoda. I do not trust Skoda not to do this again in the future. When my lease finishes next June I will not be getting a VW group car.
Many thanks for also producing videos on English, I’ve search for this since I bought my IV80 2022 version delivered in the end of 2021, updated to ME3.0 probably won’t get a higher upgrade… More important thanks for raising all, and I mean ALL the questions that I have thought about since the first time I drew away from the car dealer. Keep up the good work, you’re helping ruffly 150K of Enyaq owners to understand what Skoda is putting us through.
Hi Matthias. Welcome back! Good of you to relaunch your channel. 🎉 I like your sharp, honest and pointy analysis of what Skoda is doing. Please keep up the good work! 💪 After two fantastic Octavia’s I now drive an Enyaq with ME 3.0 (factory shipped). I’m sorry to say that it will be my last Skoda. Or VAG car for that matter. Poor quality software is THE biggest problem. It remains unsolved and I have lost trust that Skoda (i.e. Cariad) will be able to solve it. Why? VAG is ramping up their EV model range. New models get new hardware. New hardware needs new software that must be developed, tested and maintained. Until now Cariad wasn’t even able to improve ME 3.x to an acceptable level. So how would they be able to if they have all these new models to work on? One main issue we will again suffer from this coming winter is ‘Coldgate’. Poor charging in low temperatures. As long as big issues like these aren’t fixed, I’m not interested in any 3.x update anymore. Let’s see what happens. And dear Matthias, your English is just fine. Your next videos will polish it to perfection 😉
Hi Matthias and greetings from Finland! Great to see you are back! You really hit the nail with this video. I have owned Enyaq 80x since January 2023 with factory shipped 3.0 software version. I have been satisfied with the driving characteristics of the car. But I have been very disappointed with Skoda's software functionalities and VAG's (Skoda's) inability to develop and update car's software. They promised to start 3.1 OTA updates at week 17 and we are still waiting for it. They let us believe that our cars will have pre-heated battery functionality in the future by OTA SW update. It seems that it will not happen. This keeps me wondering, why Skoda (and VAG) are handling their customers this way. The are not communicating honestly, actually they are not communicating at all. Is it because they have only bad news for existing car owners with 3.0 SW? They have been able to update 2.x versions to 3.x versions via Skoda service dealers. Why they don't allow service dealers to update from 3.0 to 3.1 or 3.2 (at least in Finland it seems not to be possible)? I have lost my confidence in Skoda (VAG) and most likely my Enyaq will be last VAG EV vehicle.
Hi, Matthias, welcome back, and thanks for useful and trustworthy videos. I did not find out you had restarted until this week, so my comment comes very late. No, seriously, if VAG do not keep their promise to update my car (not only beyond 3.0) I will never trust them enough to buy another Skoda. Or VW. The car is OK, but has some serious flaws that must be corrected, like the missing battery pre-heating for charging. I live in the colder climate in Norway, for us the winter battery charging times became really bad with 3.0 when they changed the battery minimum temperatures. And our cars with ME3 will be hard to sell if not updated, since most other cars will be better, and we will have lost a lot of money. I might only buy a car from them if they offer serious amends for our financial loss and for hard testing our patience.
My previous comment wasn't posted for some reason. I want to repeat, that it is nice to see you back, Matthias! As you mentioned you will be doing videos about PHEVs, I have a 2020 Octavia iV and I drive it 99% of time in electric only mode. I would be glad to share my experience would you want to send me a message. Answering your question about trust, no, definitely I won't stay with Skoda. My experience with Octavia is more than terrible, and I think Enyaq owners are quite lucky compared to what PHEV owners have to deal with.
Nice to have You back. Thank you very much for the English version. My Skoda dealer told me yesterday that my Enyaq 80+ will be recalled for update 3.2 within a few months.
I just got my 80x and was pleased to see this video, as you have been one of my main sources of information about updates and other stuff which has affected my purchase. Since I have 3.5 already, I'm quite pleased with the car. The user profiles lacks a whole lot of thought and features, but I can live with that. However, if they don't get the pre-heating together, owning this car in the cold, north of Sweden-climate will be a huge issue. I REALLY like driving the car though, which was the reason I picked it. Fantastic drive, exceptional comfort.
Hello Matthias, good seeing you back on your channel! Last Thursday (17-08-2023) I installed the same update. Today I checked the Australian VIN-checker website and found that another update is outstanding from 21/08/2023: O4A3 which has description S-ME3.0.7b? ICAS1 BMCe. According this date it should pop-up any time. May be this is a 2nd update.
So glad you are making videos again... Just recently discovered your channel and you made it easy for me to decide that the Enyaq will be my next car! Thanks! Also I didn't mind the subtitles but the English version is welcomed 🙂
Thank you for your video. I am quite satisfied with my Enyaq 80x (head-up display, performance, car size, comfort, etc.). But I'm also disappointed with the software maintenance. I really hope they will improve on this. Otherwise, I will consider another manufacturer for my next car when my lease ends.
Welcome back. I still hope to get more updates but have no hope of getting alot. I atleast hope to get preheating before winter as i gave heard charging winter time is a pain.
Toll wieder von dir zu hören. I like the German ones thogh because you seak such perfect Hoch Deutsch that I can refresh my distant schoolboy German! As for the Enyaq, I just got the update yesterday. My last car was a Tesla Model 3 and it got updates all the time. They often broke things, and I really lost patience when they totally redesigned the interface and made it worse. So I am not too bothered by updates. 3.0 fixed the issues I didn't like about the Enyaq, the lack of a battery percentage on the dash, the noisy indicators. The car performs perfectly for me, it des what I want and it does it better than it did when I bought it. I am happy with that. Just as with computers, with phones, with my Zappi charger, with other devices, there comes a point where new development stops and the focus moves to the new devices. SO long as they continue support if the car has faults then I am fine with that. I have been told that in the UK at least, cars with 2.4 will be updated at the dealer direct to 3.2 and that for the rest of us on 3.0 there will come some minir OTA updates followed by a big one. Again, I am fine with that but I will not be too upset if it doesn't come. The main thing is whether the car works and works well. For me it does. My Tesla experience was a disaster with faulty software causing dangerous and unpredictable behaviour on the road (emergency stops on the motorway because of shadwos from bridges for example). Before that I had a 2018 Nissan lLeaf that shipped with 2015 mapping data on the sat nav and Nissan refused ever to update it. Now that was annoying. No, for me the Enyaq as it is today is just fine. Would I buy another? Yes for sure. could Skoda communicate better? Definitely, but I suspect the fault lies in Wolfsburg not Mlada Boleslav. Mit freundlichen Gruessen aus Schottland!
welcome back, as far as the skoda is concerned I am positive and yes if you take a new model car you also have to accept teething problems. and I expect the next skoda to take a smaller EV in +- 3 years.
sehr schön und spannend von dir zu sehen - bin gespannt was noch geht - die SW version ist für mich nicht ausschlaggebend - ich liebe das fahrgefühl und ambiente im Enyaq
I found that a lot of the shop items are now available for free for a month so for example the adaptive cruise control, the Powerpass map etc. Reference hope about updates.. well Android phones are generally no longer supported with patches and security updates after four years... so if we are not supported after 3.5 then our phones will also stop working with them eventually... long before the batteries of the car die (news about the current battery tech suggests they could go to 4 or even 500,000 miles (750k km) if looked after with a little care. Also thank you for the English - it is much better than my German :D
I will be keeping my Enyaq for several years, so I can't comment yet on if I'll trust Skoda if they never ship the updates. I'm on 3.2 from new. One way to view it is that I've still got the car I bought with the features stated. However, I very much would like to have feature and stability updates!
Regarding your question about not buying a VAG product again, I have driven 5 Skoda's over the last years and I am real disappointed about several issues I have. If I need to get a new car tomorrow it will probably not be a VAG car.
After having the car for more than a year, I can’t say I miss any functions anymore in the car besides pre-heating the battery. The Assist systems work perfectly after TA update, the car is solid, has a proper interior. The thing they should change is maintenance, 12 months instead of 24 months. And do the updates with maintenance in the workshop, in case anything goes wrong. Have already seen MEB cars with bald tires because the time in between maintenance is so huge. My previous cars didn’t have updates either and they drove great too. Software ME3 however is the version that should have been the first version when MEB cars were released in 2020.
I cannot say how angry Skoda makes me when they will not give any road map and they will not provide any information about what their updates actually do.
I have 3.0. I want to have consumption on display but it is not what I waiting for. I need stability car, and I am dreaming about preheating but this is all. If this video helps to push skoda make something, than will be 👍
Very useful and very clear explanations! Thank you! A question: through the Australian VIN check I see a recall 48S5 dated 5 April 2023 that is outstanding. The car does not mention anything. Why? What should I do?
I got the same recall 48s5 that is outstanding. I'm not sure what that exactly is but i think the best way would to call your dealer and tell him you see this and what to do.
I really fear that the same thing will happen to "old" Enyaqs as for old mobile phones, that they will no longer get updates and the phone will at some point be useless with new feutures being released, but incompatible with an old phone.
Will not return to Skoda, collected my RS Coupe this spring and it feels like it's allready outdated.. Infotainment performance and layout is dated, also the app is seriously lacking in features.. Next car will probably be Chinese or back to Tesla. Cheers for the video!
I have zero believe that they will do anything or even do what they claimed that they are planning to. Not because I want to, but because they showed me the reasons not to. Furthermore, in my effort to start a VoC channel, I've now reached out to a couple of high-level Škoda employees (Jiri Brynda, Zbyněk Straškraba, Tom Dreschler), offering pro-bono consultation services since I have experience in both fields (IT and automotive) - to this day, I haven't got a single reply. They've shown ZERO interest in having a two-way street which would be mutually beneficial. I understand that they're a legacy auto-company, and very inert to changes and processes, but still, this whole situation is baffling to me. I'm selling my Enyaq as of right now and getting a Mustang Mach-E GT.
I've give up on VW group. I own an Enyaq 80x and a ID.3. Software updates (or rather the lack of them) are a joke, communication with the dealer, AMAG CH, Skoda, VW and VW Group is a joke. The app is next to useless, no-one has done any use case analysis on the app or the in-car SW. I'm just glad both cars are leased and I don't have to worry about re-sale values on cars that are being forgotten about after less than two years.
Sorry for my English (very very worst than yours). I'm waiting for a Magic OTA that fix my front lights (normal Led, no Matrix) because some small-ota a few months before BROKe the level regulation. Skoda told me that he can fix reprograming and I must wait... ,,😡🤬 it's the second time for me. The first one was at the garage jumping from 2.x to ME3 but they can restore reprograming all... But not possibly this time. I Need 3.something ,,🐌
Got an Enyaq since 2 years ago, one of the first 80x delivered. Love driving it, great car when everything works, but there is 0% chance of me buying another car from Skoda or VAG. The list is just to long of shit they have messed up, underperformed or just ignored, so I won't be coming back.
The software issue with Skoda is even worse than I imagined. Come on Skoda, why are you holding us hostage with this outdated software version (ME 3.0) I don’t see how they could stop developing software for ME 3.XX cars. It could end up in a lawsuit. They have delivered a car that doesn’t work !
Hi and Welcome back! English videos are really welcome! I used subtitles but long videos were a bit 'heavy' to follow! About my 80x Enyaq I am happy with the car, I drove 70.000 km in 13 months. Driving is good, relaxing and cheap also. The charging curve is pretty good, except for cold battery temperatures, we hope to get that preheating... Software is very, very bad, still laggy (I am on 3.0), still way slower than other skoda ICE cars, and that is nonsense. So, definitely a good one, but that software issues, including bad navigation, are deal breaker for me, and it's a shame: those should be the easy part of car making!
I just have to say that I am satisfied with the car, but incredibly dissatisfied when it comes to the software on the car and the useless app. Have lost patience when it comes to ota. I'm afraid nothing more will come to this car. This is my first and last Skoda I will ever buy. Nor should anything from Volkswagen. They give zero information about what is happening. so the next car will be a different brand, that's for sure.
Highly unlikely that next my car would be from VW group at all. Those old hardware companies have too many legacy persons in decision making which know nothing how modern hardware should work.
Recall 04A2 updates the BMCe, recall 04A3 updates both (icas1 and BMCe). O4A4 updates only the BMCe. Detail info: ICAS1 (DA0019) SW0258 -> SW0261 and BMCe (008C) SW1030 -> SW1041
I also received the update you are referring to on this video.
Nice to have you back - strange hearing you in English, but you have no reason to worry about how good your English is!
Thanks for your honest feedback. I really appreciate it! And what you say is what a lot of people think and will do too i guess
Many thanks for also producing videos on English, I’ve search for this since I bought my IV80 2022 version delivered in the end of 2021, updated to ME3.0 probably won’t get a higher upgrade…

Welcome back, btw :)
I cannot say how angry Skoda makes me when they will not give any road map and they will not provide any information about what their updates actually do.
At least they are doing it OTA. Yes communication must be better and they must answer, but may be its not up to them to make this decision.
I have 3.0. I want to have consumption on display but it is not what I waiting for. I need stability car, and I am dreaming about preheating but this is all. If this video helps to push skoda make something, than will be 👍
I still have hope and compared to older cars we need to get used to we won’t get consistent updates especially at the start of the life cycles.
My problem - the update started, but then I needed to move again and since then the update never started again.
My current version is 3.2
Id4 is getting updated to 3.2 but not ota
I've give up on VW group. I own an Enyaq 80x and a ID.3. Software updates (or rather the lack of them) are a joke, communication with the dealer, AMAG CH, Skoda, VW and VW Group is a joke. The app is next to useless, no-one has done any use case analysis on the app or the in-car SW. I'm just glad both cars are leased and I don't have to worry about re-sale values on cars that are being forgotten about after less than two years.
Thanks for your honest feedback!
What's the name of the update, in English?
Come on Skoda, why are you holding us hostage with this outdated software version (ME 3.0)
I don’t see how they could stop developing software for ME 3.XX cars.
"shkouda" sounds wrong. I'd prefer "skouda" (english) or "shkodda" (czech)
Good point, don't know why it speak it that way in english. So i will keep the czech version as i use in german videos as well. Thanks
I'll never ever buy Skoda or any car from VW group again. They failed several times already and I'm not interested in another car from them...
Highly unlikely that next my car would be from VW group at all. Those old hardware companies have too many legacy persons in decision making which know nothing how modern hardware should work.
Thanks for your feedback!
