    Brava ancora, I learn so much. There is no such word in English as 'rests', you want ruins or remains. Been many times and food is spectacular. I remember seeing Sicilian salad on a menu made of anchovy with orange slices. Sounded terrible, tasted delicious. Love your presentation style and especially your enthusiasm for your native land. Di piu', per cortesia.

    • @paulcesare8927

      @@ItalybyItalians Yes, most definitely Giulia...I am extremely blessed to have Italian origins and to have had the most-loving, life-promoting parents (grandparents are from the Campagna and Abruzzo regions), relatives and friends growing up in Schenectady, New York. I am retired now as a higher education administrator (admissions) from Metropolitan State University of Denver applying for Italian citizenship through the Commune of Cagliari because my outstanding Italian attorney (who is fantastically Sardinian), has her primary, of three Offices - Denver, Rome & Cagliari, in Cagliari. Your outstanding personality, superb energy, life-promoting values, incredible teacher and grower of human beings is phenomenal!!!! And you are so spot on...in presenting Italy to others from an authentic Italian perspective...that's your primary power. I am so tired and uninspired of Italy being described/presented/taught by non-Italians who (not to diminish the beauty of who they are) are totally incapable of capturing and teaching the true essence and indominable spirit of real Italian values and culture. As a Sociology major in college, culture is everything!!!! So...you are an excellent representation of the Italian spirit and culture!!!! Keep doing what you're doing! I have your back! All the best...Paolo

    I love your videos. They are informative, accurate, and fun to watch! I agree that Taormina is very touristy, and I recommend visiting there on a daytrip at most. We rented a car both times we visited Sicily; driving was pretty straightforward except in Palermo, which felt like a very aggressive game of bumper-cars.
    A note on translation: the word "rests" seems to be used in the video as a synonym for "foundations" or "buildings" or "constructions", for example the phrase "ancient Greek rests" is used at 3:12. This use of the word "rests" is incorrect; it is not a synonym for these words.

    • @ItalybyItalians
      @ItalybyItalians  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your kind words 😊 Also many thanks for your linguistic tip: I was mistakenly convinced this word could be used in that way, I won't do it anymore!
      So tell me: what is the place you liked most in Sicily?

    • @andrewtaylor9799
      @andrewtaylor9799 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ItalybyItalians There is so much to like in Sicily, for example there are many beautiful hill villages without any tourists; it is worth extended exploration. I liked the Greek temple at Segesta; the beautiful isolated setting and its very good condition were very memorable. And I liked the towns in the southeast, especially Modica for a stay and Ragusa for its beauty and Scicli for its authenticity and lack of tourists.
