When I heard her Lady Macbeth then saw herin this production, her genius was confirmed to me. Previously, I usually encountered large scale voices such as Tebaldi, Bumbry, Callas, Ross and other similar artists in these roles. But, Scotto was so skilled at bringing her slender but flexible.resources to the service of text and character by route of extraordinary vocal and musical prowess, she was nothing less than a sorceress.
The difference between Renata Scotto and most other singers was that she actually interpreted the role she was portraying ,not just "singing" it .We have lost one of the last truly unique divas.
I had the pleasure of following, for more than 20 years, Scotto's career at the Met and, for me, she was the best of the best. She took risks that few sopranos at that time did, she gave herself 100% to her audience. She certainly will be always remembered!
Callas funs are infamously skilled in bullying, without being ashamed of being unfair. Some of them, apparently, see an opportunity even in a pro memoriam occasion
@@antonshkaruba6105 It’s not about being a Callas fan or not! It just being a fan of good singing! Renata was a nice lyric soprano and she should never go to verismo! That’s acclaimed even by her fan…so why to make a tribute to Scotto with this rec?
@@OperaMyWorld because if Opera is first voice, it is also theater.
"Povero Ponchielli"
your bigotry is not surprising, however very inappropriate for the occasion. The aria is impeccably executed, with no compromises, perfect vocal throughout and deeply touching emotions
Leyenda, maestra...

@@JURISMICHI didn’t say anything bad…of course opera is voice and theater but choosing the appropriate repertoire for your voice! Have a nice day!
Perfetta!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very expressive..
❤❤
Interpretation fantastic. This role was too big for her voice
It's good.
Renata, dormi quieta dentro l' avel....❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Painful, and not in a moving way. Adina gone mad.
