    I’m proud of raising a daughter who is a kind, caring person who is a friend to many. I don’t know what I’d do without her.

    I’m proud of my job and becoming a nurse. It was such a struggle but my accomplishments in this field continue to expand and change me as a human. I have made a couple friends and 1 close friend in this field. ❤

    I am proud of having raised kind children. I worked very hard at helping them understand how important that was. Side note, I was told by a store owner when I told her your designs were my favorite that you are a super nice person. ❤

      I think that kindness is the most important character trait - not being "nice", but being truly kind and valuing other people. I'm so very proud that you've passed that on to your children. And I'm so pleased that I've been treating the shop owner the way I'd like to be treated! ❤️

    Flicker story: I heard a sound that indicated our furnace was having a problem. Repairman came out, no problem found. Heard noise again, repairman came again. No problem. Day later I was outside and heard a rapid tapping sound and found a flicker was claiming territory by tapping vigorously on the metal pipe insert in our chimney! That sound of course echoed down the chimney to the basement furnace. Repairman got a laugh out that, as did we, when I called to tell them problem solved.

    • @theblueflower2115
      @theblueflower2115  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh that's wonderful! And I can absolutely picture that tapping noise echoing in the pipes - I would have called the repairman as well. 🤣❤️

    Wonderful “lazy, hazy, crazy days of {almost) summer” puppy video. I want a big, fuzzy bed now. Living alone these days, I’m proud of being independent, repairing things I would never have attempted before, and just enjoying life and retirement. And proud of my stitching, of course😁

    Thank you for the video. Most of my dear friend or friends were 20 to 40 years older than me, so they have gone home or died as most people think. My mom wanted me to learn Bobbin Lace, and I enjoyed the craft so much that I learned to design the lace and turn bobbins. I did finish a grant for a friend who moved out of state and then did 3 or 4 more grants. I did not expect that the Utah Arts Counsel would do extra for the teacher of lace but they made me a master artist which I don't usually tell anyone because there is such strife to be the first or the best and following in the tradition I just planed to make the lace and enjoy it. Thank you for your interest. I did sell many bobbins of all kinds to lace stores and at lace in classes, and yes, I have turned over a thousand bobbins. My husband accuses me of wearing out his lathe, so I bought him a new one, which he uses to clean out the pockets of rife shells.

    • @theblueflower2115
      @theblueflower2115  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I knew you were amazing at bobbin lace (and you should be absolutely proud of being a Master Artist and keeping the tradition alive), but I had no idea you also turned your own bobbins. Is that something that all lace artists do? Or is it something you learned for yourself? ❤️

    Thank you for the tidbits on Northern Flickers. We see them frequently and in the winter they come dine at our feeder. They make a ruckus when they arrive and fling seeds aside until they find a peanut. Then they fly off with the peanut. They actually do a service for the ground feeding birds who take advantage of all the seeds flung aside from the flicker. Looking forward to your next video. Your dogs are sweet and obviously loved - as it should be! Take care, happy 🪡🪡

    • @theblueflower2115
      @theblueflower2115  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh I can absolutely picture them flinging seeds around until they get the one they want! Peanuts are a hot commodity in our yard as well - the dogs try to eat them as quickly as the birds can. 🤣❤️

  • @feidie64
    @feidie64 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    We have a lot of different woodpeckers that visit our yard (Pileated, Red-Headed, Red-Bellied, the little Downy, and possibly the Hairy, & the Flicker). I "spike" my black oil sunflower seed with the nut & fruit blend just for them. :) The Pileated, however, mostly likes to peck at the old stumps and snags in a little wooded area by our house. The Pileateds can make quite a racket. :) Don't forget to "Sing a little song" while you're doing your little dance over the next couple of weeks! 🎤❤

      I absolutely will "sing a little song" (and thank you for catching that!) 🤣 What an amazing variety of woodpeckers you get - I need to see if I can offer different seeds to attract a few of them here. ❤️

    Love the prairie design and am looking forward to its release next summer! I grew up on the Illinois prairie and though I love the mountains where I live now I do sometimes miss the long low horizons of my childhood home. I’m proud of the life of quiet contentment that I now enjoy with my husband and our tabby. Contentment can be difficult to find (or was for me) and I’m quite grateful to savor it now. Thank you for another wonderful video.

      I'm so very glad that you're in a contented place. It can be very hard-won and is absolutely something to savor. I've never seen the prairie in person - although I lived in eastern Montana as a child it was all wheat farms there. But it would be hard for me to give up the mountains as well. ❤️

    Good afternoon Jeannine from Ontario, Canada. Again, thoroughly enjoyed your Flosstube today. I am always so drawn in by your "world around" & look forward to that as much as the stitching!
    We're heading into very hot/humid temperatures this coming week which I'm not looking forward to. I truly love the change of seasons we have but not the extreme heat!

    We live in the MIdwest and are well acquainted with the antics of Northern Flickers. We had one that drummed on our rooftop sewer vent pipe. Drove Sunny, our golden retriever, crazy. We refer to Flickers as the Sunny Nemesis. haha Your Prairie Home piece will be on my wish list! We lived in North Dakota for many years and the prairies are beautiful. I am proud of the projects I donate to Children's Hospitals - knit caps, pillow cases, quilts, etc. Thank you for a delightful video today!

    • @theblueflower2115
      @theblueflower2115  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ha - I can only imagine Sunny reacting to the loud drumming of a Flicker on the roof! We used to have birds that got inside the eaves of our Portland house, and just them hopping around sounded like a little tribe of elephants doing aerobics. 🤣 It's so wonderful that you donate to the hospital. Having something homemade (and lovely, not just plain institutional fabrics) must really help during a difficult time. ❤️

    Another amazing video, thank you!! Prarie Home is beautiful!!! - I'm proud of the work I do. I'm an in-home Hospice Caregiver who is blessed to care for people in their own homes, allowing them to pass with dignity, respect & lots of 1 on 1 loving attention. I work 12, 16 & 24 hr shifts, & do 24/7 live-in cases as well. I bring my cross stitch to every shift & my 'people' & their stories are stitched into every piece of work I own. I can look at a finished piece & remember every person woven into it, even decades later. It's amazing, wonderful & so very special! Friend

      That is work to be proud of indeed! I know you make such a difference to people in a very difficult time. It's interesting that you bring your cross stitch, because I've done the same the few times I've been supporting extended family at hospice. And looking at those pieces does take me right back to those people and moments. What a special memorial in your stitching! ❤️

    Hello Janine, I have to say that their are 2 things that I am proud of:
    1) When I was in my late 40s and had just been diagnosed with MS, my husband and I took in our oldest grandson for 3 years. I not only found out why GOD gives children to Young People pretty fast (he woke up at 7:00 a.m. sharp everyday) - but I homeschooled him and when he went back to his Mom and she put him in public school he tested well above his peers!! I was so proud of both of us!
    2) At the same time due to mobility issues, I needed a service dog to help me. Because the cost of getting a fully trained dog ($10,00 - $20,000) abd the time You were on the wait list (average wait time was the. 5 - 7 years) and because the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) alliwed it - I trained both my first service dog and my second one. They could pull my old wheelchair that was VERY heavy at a dead run and could pick up a dime off any floor, just to mention 2 of their tasks. Sadly due to my current age (71) and level of disability, I can no longer do that.
    These 2 things were really satisfying highlights in my life.

      @theblueflower2115  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh I'm so proud of you! How wonderful that your grandson had supportive family to help him, even though you were going through a tough time yourself. And what an accomplishment to train two service dogs - they are truly amazing, aren't they? Do you have a dog with you now? ❤️

    If I moved every friend, acquaintance or person I admire I'm afraid I'd have a whole village/ town. Of course there would also be lots of dogs especially whippets (as I've said before I used to breed/show them) with an occasional Foxhound ( another fabulous breed).
    I've started my own Year of stitching Dogs but I've slightly altered the greyhounds to whippets by adding a ' gentle arch over the loin' as per standard 😂, also had to change the order in your chart to better reflect the seasons in Australia. A country you need to visit, particularly Queensland, where I can guarantee a whippet and greyhound kiss.

    • @theblueflower2115

      I would LOVE to visit Australia someday (despite my persistent fear of spiders) and would absolutely be at your door for some sighthound love. And I can't wait to see your whippets stitched! How are foxhounds as a breed - I've always thought they were intimidating and needed lots of exercise and direction. Is that true? ❤️

      Allison is great, but miss Mel and Sue. Too bad about those missing two seasons. Are those the first two?? The Channel 4 seasons, correct? What I enjoyed about the first seasons was the history that went into the baking - thought it was fascinating. I think my fav baker is Nadiya. I enjoyed Steph, too. My husband and I always debate the sexism on the show…but the calm it brings, the acceptance, it’s just the best❤ We have a couple cookbooks, but to try these things…oof

    I have also wondered about the animals in your charts. Would it be possible to include a list off to the side or at the bottom of your charts? I was at the Quilter’s Station retreat and was curious about all the prairie animals charted. It is on my summer start list!

      Oh how I wish I had kept a full list! I've been asked about a few things lately and I need to make sure I keep track going forward. I can identify a few things right off, but I'm afraid I didn't keep track of everything as I was designing it (and I discard my working folder when the design is completed). I'm sorry that's not more helpful, but if I get time in the next month or so I'll work on recreating a list for that one. In the meantime, if there's a particular animal or plant you were wondering about just let me know and I'll do my best to identify it! ❤️

      @@theblueflower2115 Please don’t go to all that trouble. I thought it might be an interesting addition to any flora/fauna/animal charts in the future. 😁

      @@vickiinkansas1399 It's a good reminder for me to keep a list while I'm doing it so I don't have to rely on my memory afterward! 🤣🤣

    Great information about the flicker. They love our suet feeders all winter long. Do you have suggestions for information on birds? I have great books about identifying birds but they are not great in regards to habits of the birds.

      You know, most of the things I have are about identification as well, but I usually rely on online sources for more information. Cornell has a great website for bird information, and if you have a local "backyard bird" store or equivalent they often have good info. Or perhaps the Merlin app gives good details? (I haven't tried that one yet.) Does that help? And there are certain to be birdwatching groups in your area - they might have a facebook page that you could check out and use to ask for recommendations. I hope this helps! ❤️

    I am proud that I was brave and went to the dentist for some oral surgery that I really wanted to avoid. A friend is an oral surgeon and he did the work - it was 5% weird he's a friend 95% comforting. I seriously wanted a sticker that said "I was brave today"! Am I turning 50 this year, yes? Do I want stickers for being brave -- also -- YES! :)

      Oh you were so brave! That is such a scary thing and you absolutely deserve a sticker. (I'll be 50 this year as well and I would still love to get a sticker.) And now you've inspired me - I should design some "stickers" we could give each other to celebrate those life wins. ❤️
