- Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Prince Consort were wed in Holmens Church, Copenhagen, in 1967. The wedding festivities were held at Fredensborg Palace.
Hendes Majestæt Dronningen og Hans Kongelige Højhed Prinsgemalen blev viet i Holmens Kirke, København, i 1967. Bryllupsfesten blev holdt på Fredensborg Slot.

@@fredrikmoller629 The lace veil was made by Irish women for queen Ingrid's mother, Margaret of Connaught, who married Sweden's Gustav Adolf in 1905. Queen Ingrid wore it at her wedding 24/5 1935 and it has since been worn by all her female descendants in the Danish royal family: her daughters, her granddaughters and one daughter-in-law: crown princess Mary. The crown princess continues another family tradition: princess Isabella received a gold bracelet on her 9th birthday. Queen Ingrid's mother gave her a bracelet on her 9th birthday and that has also become tradition. Look at the pictures and you'll see that queen Margrethe, princess Benedikte and queen Anne Marie still wear them.

Like you I guess.👌🏻lots of things like tiaras in the danish royal family come from Swedish brides married to danish royals. But on the other hand. Sweden have lots of things Combüchens from other familys around Europe too... so many connections between all royals

The beautiful gown has the classic, simple lines of a 1960s wedding dress. My sister was married in the late sixties in a mail order dress that looked much the same as this gown. That is by no means a criticism. I think it is much more beautiful that the over-the-top gowns of today.
The square-edged train looked like a bedspread, though.

I was born and raised in Denmark ( have lived in the US for many years). Queen Margrethe is quite tall, 6 ft I think. One time when I was back in Denmark for Christmas, I was at a department store in Copenhagen, and noticed a very tall regal woman in a fur coat, a second look and I realized it was the Queen, which she was then. I had seen her before a few times, but always at a distance. I think because of her height and bone structure the dress was perfect, she would not have looked good in anything too frilly. I agree with many comments here the dress is timeless.

If I didn't know this was 1967, I would have guessed it was present day wedding dress and veil. Amazing that she picked a dress and veil that was perfectly timeless, classic and could be worn today without anyone being snide about it being "dated" like, say, Princess Diana's dress. Amazing.
Almost all royal brides (Grace, Margaret, Anne, Kate) choose timeless designs. Only Diana"s looked out of place. I did not like her dress the moment she stepped out of the carriage.
The dress was inspired by the wedding dress of queen Margrethe 1 from 1363.
Now how would anyone know what a dress looked like in 1363. It was Queen Victoria that started the white dress for weddings.

Very beautiful. Like many a royal marriage and like many a marriage--this isn't Disney, folks!-- this fairy tale had many challenges and impediments. The estranged Prince Consort's funeral can also be seen on TH-cam and his sad farewell from the Queen and family. Nonetheless this was a happy moment in the life of Denmark. Be well.

King is defined in our constitution, so not possible. First time ever a queen was ruling Denmark so no one had thought there might be a problem. Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh was a Prince Consort too.

From back in the day when personal dressmakers made royal gowns instead of flashy designers who then charge an arm and a leg.
Princess Margarethe has always had good taste: she is a true artist. Some of the evening gowns she appears in are just plain STUNNING! Color and cut are always spot on, with a spirit of grand /style epic (if correct for the occasion) with a soupçon of whimsy.😊

@@Ettibridget but everybody knew - they just didn't talk about it. The two (and probably others) were fantastic designers and that's what people talked about. Only comment would be something like "oh, that's why he hasn't got a wife 😊".

It is hard to see the guests. I can see KIng Frederik IX and Queen Ingrid of course, KIng Gustav VI Adolf of Sweden, and (then) Princess Beatrix with Prince Claus. Apparently, King Baudouin of the Belgians and Queen Fabiola, Queen Juliana of the Netherlands and Prince Bernhard, and King OLav V of Norway with (then) Crown Prince Harald were also present. Can anyone spot them in the video ?

I think Crown Princess Mary wore the same veil when she married Crown Prince Frederik. Or a similar veil. A very nice tribute to her mother-in-law.
