- Here is your solution for keeping your pea gravel or decomposed granite in place - try mulch or rock glue. Mix the glue in with the rocks or put a few coats of glue on top of placed rocks. Either way your rocks will stay in place!
Crushed granite looks great too. I did a section of pea gravel alongside sidewalk and house, the 2 foot by 20 foot area many homes have. I used the glue..Just enough holds in ace. Use a lot more and it helps shed water away more from that area. There is another glue that almost waterproof the entire area. Great job, love that look. 👍
i know this video is 2 years old but how renter friendly do you think this glue would be? We have a patch of sandy soil right near our back door and i wanted to lay down some pavers and pea gravel but our dogs also run in and out of the house! do you think it would be removeable 2 years down the line if we used the glue?
We want to do this, but have trees that drop acorns and pollen (which then really requires power washing on cement as they stain)... could we do this and power wash it? Thank you!
Does the mulch glue affect the drainage of the pea gravel?
That's an excellent question!
No, it doesn’t! It still drains very well. I made a pea gravel patio in my house. To help with drainage and not to have any chances of rocks being washed away (mainly if you have a large area) try to add geocells before adding your gravel, after it, spray the glue. You won’t regret! 😘
When I finish my edging I’ll post the result here if you want to see: @teacheralineadorno
Mix it with epoxy
Will this work with polymeric sand watered in?
Did you ever find this answer?
About how long will it last if you just lay a couple of layers on top compared to mixing it with the stone.
12-24 months by reapplication
It has to be redone every year.
Unless you use expensive resin binders, the 'mulch glue' stuff loses effectiveness in a matter of months, especially if there's lots of rain or irrigation. And it's not for heavy-traffic areas. So don't use the cheaper 'mulch glue' unless you want to continually re-apply.
thanks for sharing this. also, either with mulch glue or resin binders, do you know if they're slippery for heavy traffic + rain?
Very expensive
