FLIR BUFFER/LINE DRIVER, A tiny little pedal that makes a massive difference to your tone.

  • A very simple and concise demonstration of what the FLIR Buffer/Line driver can do for your guitar signal. With the original signal 105m of guitar cable adds approximately 10nF of capacitance loading the signal down and removing most of the mids and treble frequencies. When the FLIR is switched in, you can immediately hear those frequencies are restored. Place the FLIR at the end or start of your pedalboard to restore the full frequency range of your guitar signal.

I'm glad that I'm finally going to get back the high end that I'm losing with my 105 meter cable to my amp! Huge relief! 🤦🏽‍♂️

Well..... this video was more about demoing the extreme tone loss that the FLIR can resolve, so if your situation is the same or somewhat less than this, regardless the point is the FLIR has got you covered.

    Great demo

Wow, the difference is night and day. I can almost compare it to the tone suck on a stock cry baby going away after a true bypass mod.

Also, mega props for capturing the sonic differences with a Mic.

Sounds great! Is the buffer placed before or after the 105m of cable for this demo?

My guess would be before. The buffer would then drive the length of cable to preserve the signal.

How would you compare this to a standard BOSS buffer?

Hi, the input impedance is a lot higher on this flir buffer and as such the overall sound is brighter and feels more expansive across the frequency range.

Can u explain to me how this is better than the J Rockett Audio Lemon Aide pedal ?? That’s the buffer I currently have at the end of my chain and it works quite well but I could def be convinced to buy this one if a case is made for it out performing the JRA pedal. I do have the fat general which I do love tremendously.

Hey, if the Lemon aid is working for you and you can hear a difference that (crucially) you like, then the lemon aid is probably fine. The benefits of the FLIR are that it is tiny, I mean really tiny. It is an always on buffer, so you don't have to think about it once placed in your pedalboard signal chain. Just put it last at the end of your pedalboard and off you go.

@@thorpyfx2679 hmmm , that is a very good point , and the lem aid is huge. The main thing I’m worried about is which is higher quality ?? I tend to think the Thorpy is..... and I just did get two mini petals that will go nicely with that one but what about team medic ?? Is that buffer better than the flir ?

    • @thorpyfx2679
      @thorpyfx2679  3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@bigtsshackfestival9563 compared to the Team medic.... team medic does a lot more. it can eq, boost, more boost AND buffer. But, the TEAM MEDIC is a different tool, more akin to the lemon aid in some respects but with more scope to tone shape.

If I had the team medic I wouldn’t turn it off. If that was the case would I need to have the buffer on ?? I would run it at the end of my chain. I think I’m about to order this or the flir.

Well I bought the team medic. Can’t wait to get it. Every Thorpy pedal is a huge plus to any collection. Now I have the fat g and the medic. Next will be the the flange...

So where in the signal chain should / can this go? Beginning / End or does it not matter as it’s down to personal preference as I know there is a lot of confusing and misleading info out there ! I am sure design of the types of buffer effect this but this could also be old wives tales!!! Thank you and congratulations 🎉 🐣

nick, at the very front (after vintage fuzz) or as i prefer at the very end of your pedalboard to present the strongest signal and correct impedance going into your amplifier.

@@thorpyfx2679 👍 cheers. Oh sorry meant to ask who the switching pedal was made by as cannot find anything online
