      I'm sure the compass card will be enough proof. I don't really encounter fare checkers anymore ever since they've installed the gates, so I'm not sure if they really do that still.

      They do check especially in the train. They have handheld machines that check the cards.

    There is a $5 AddFare if you're travelling beyond Templeton Station from YVR Airport on the Canada Line, but travel is free when travelling between these stations. This information would be vital and helpful for tourists since they're most likely arriving to Vancouver via the airport.

    How did you gather all this information? Is it from personal experience or is it from inquiring directly with Translink? It was very informative. It seems like you exhausted all possible options.

      Thanks Erick! I got all of the information from a combination of personal experience, the Translink website, and a few of the other sources of information out there on how to use Vancouver’s transit system. I can only hope that I have the correct information and that I didn’t miss anything important!

      Daphne Xplores well I really appreciate what you're doing here. I just finished showing a friend around who is visiting from Korea and, coincidentally enough, we went on the Skytrain today. Public transit has vastly improved over the last few years but it still has so much to go if it wants to be on par with some of the transit systems around the world, especially Asia! You're a Vancouver native I take it? 😊

    • @DaphneXplores
      @DaphneXplores  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yep born and raised in Vancouver! You're right, Vancouver's transit system is improving, but quite slowly compared to some of the major cities going through rapid change now!

      Daphne Xplores ah, no wonder. You're well positioned to make an instructional video then. I personally like reading the Daily Hive for transit info, don't know if you keep up with it.
      Anyways, I hope you keep making great videos! Thanks again 👌🏻😉😊

    Hi Daphne
    So if I understand correctly, if I tap my card on a bus (assuming I haven't loaded my card with day pass/monthly pass), then within the next 90 minutes if I tap my card on any other buses, no money is going to be deducted from my card.
    Thanks for the informative video !

    If i have a stored value can i also add to my compass card a daypass of 10$ for the weekend for example. Or should i get a new card for the 10$ day pass?

    • @DaphneXplores
      @DaphneXplores  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can add passes to the same card. The gates will recognize and use the passes on the card first and then if it needs more then it will use your stored value.

    I want to take the Canada Line from YVR Airport to the waterfront, use a contactless credit card tap to pay and in 90-minute take bus to Stanley Park. Do I need to use a tap to pay my credit card when I get on the bus? Thank you

    • @DaphneXplores
      @DaphneXplores  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You will need to tap your credit card when you get on the bus. I don’t think it can track when you last tapped into the system if you use your credit card, so I THINK it charges you every time. I’m not 100% sure, but you have to tap your card on the bus anyway.

    Hey! So I'm traveling to Vancouver in about two weeks and I was hoping to get some advice from you about what we should do for public transportation! Your video was so informative, but I'm still finding myself frazzled with what the best price would be for our trip. We get into the Pacific Central Station and plan to stay in the Samesun Hostel, is there a bus that takes us into town? I know you guys don't have Uber, but we get in at 11:00pm so walking for a half hour might not be the best idea, but we are backpacking! Also! We are planning to journey to the Capilano Suspension bridge, Gastown, Stanley Park, Granville Island, and then maybe staying a night in Whistler. How would you recommend we go about transportation? Maybe buying the 10 dollar day passes, or if we only are stopping at 4/5 places, would single trips be better?
    And one last questions! Sorry! When you tap in on a bus and your 90 minutes starts, do you tap out when you hop off the bus and are able to spread out your 90 minutes throughout the day, or once you tap in does it keep running?
    Thank you so much and I would really appreciate your help!
    If you also have any other tips for us before we leave Dec. 15 I would appreciate it so much!

    • @DaphneXplores
      @DaphneXplores  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Kaitlyn, thanks for watching. Check Google Maps if you want to know if there are busses you can take. What's cheaper depends how long you stay at each location, if you just want to keep it simple then just get a day pass. Most of downtown is pretty walkable too if you don't mind walking. When you tap in your 90 minutes begins, you can't pause it. Also, you don't need to tap out on buses, just skytrains so they can calculate the zones you travelled.

    I still don't understand why their machines let you tap a credit card but not a debit card xD

    Whatever happened to the planned Expo Station between Columbia and Sapperton? Is that still planned?

    • @ragellejean
      @ragellejean 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This isn’t where I’d expect to find information on “planned” stations such as Woodland(s). Though to vaguely answer it, I believe it’s either due to or, in combination of the short distances between the two stations and lack of funding.

    • @rosecherono9075
      @rosecherono9075 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm assuming you mean Woodlands. Woodlands skytrain station which was going benefit the students of Woodland schools (a school for special needs children) but the school was shut down in 1996 due to abuse allegations. So since there where no students they was no point in building the Woodlands skytrain station and it remaind unbuilt.

    Daphne, we plan to buy the Compass Card (we are over 65) and only want one way transportation from YVR airport to Waterfront Station and are confused if it is a 1 Zone or a 2 Zone fare. Please advise asap. We are leaving Friday Sept 21

    • @DaphneXplores
      @DaphneXplores  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Judy, hope this gets to you in time. If you are traveling on a weekday before 6:30pm, it is a 2-zone fare. At any other time it’s just 1 zone (the machine will only give you one option anyway). Also, if you’re only using transit once just get a one way paper ticket, no need to buy the plastic compass card. Hope that helps!

    • @DaphneXplores
      @DaphneXplores  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I’m not 100% sure but I believe the card will go into a negative balance for that trip and for the next trip it won’t let you through until you top it up again.

    • @arisgolseen2693

    • @ragellejean
