@WhatsNextVideos I've been saying the same thing since the Justice League movie, and after watching this movie, I see that nothing has changed. Even the CW Flash (which is far from perfect) is closer to the comics than what Ezra chose to do to portray the character.

Michael Keaton's performance always stuck out in my mind due to his commitment to the role. If the studios cared about Batman as much as Keaton did, we would already have a legendary trilogy.
@BatAmerica I feel like Afflek doesn't get enough appreciation as Batman, nor was he truly given a chance to shine in the role. He was great in Justice League and I wish we'd get a standalone Bats movie, maybe the whole Jason Todd scenario.
Yeah that is a good statement. We've seen multiple times that horror movier directors are good at making superhero films. Kinda like how comedians tend to make great dramatic actors

I was surprised at how bad some of the CGI was given how long this movie was delayed. It is quite surprising to me that it took this long for a Flash movie to even exist especially considering what was attempted in the 70s, 80s, 90s, early 2000s and post Iron Man superhero movie era. Better late than never, I suppose.
It is exactly a little bit of a lot of stuff we have already seen before. I liked Sasha Calle. Look - I’m not into sucking Nostalgia teet unlike Chris so Keaton, like Tobey Mac, did nothing for me by chewing scenery and spouting old dialogue.
WB told Chris to "forgive" Ezra, so he did, and sadly many other people will also be forgiving of Ezra's past. I'm not though, and I certainly won't be seeing this movie.

@@daviddennie4086 no way home isn't a good movie because "nostalgia" or fan service. It's just a really good movie that knows how to use the stuff established by previous movies.
If we wanna be technical its more like the flash revealing/acknowledging to the audience that multiple actors play the same character and then going, "Hey let's do it again, old and new."
i had pretty low expectations, so i ended up enjoying the flash a lot - sasha calle is a BEAST! i hope to see more of her either as supergirl or literally anything where she unleashes that rage
Why? Keaton isn't even getting the purple symbol suit that Thomas Wayne has in Flashpoint. They're making it seem like he's just playing the same Batman from back them which was pretty cringy in its time. I was hoping they'd use Michael Keaton as an actor and not as a reminder of those movies
It is very cool to see a version of the Flashpoint Paradox storyline brought to the big screen. It is widely regarded as some of the best writing that has come out of DC. Injustice Gods Among was equally incredible. I am happy for the film's success.
The film is actually bombing. It may not make enough to recoup even it's marketing spend. Probably the psychopathic lead actor has something to do with it.
I had watched so many(spoiler-free) hate reviews of the Flash that it had shaped my opinion at first. Then I went to watch the movie, expecting a boring and convoluted mess and very bad CGI, and poorly acting Ezra Miller etc etc, and I received a very, VERY fun movie. I couldn’t stop laughing(quietly though, because my audience were all zombies, staring into the screen, not smiling at any jokes, not getting any puns or references and god forbid cameos, lol). I wish I went the opening week and enjoyed it with the right crowd who get it all and can laugh or gasp out loud at the right moment; because I felt extremely uncomfortable being the one to actually emote, as the rest were dead silent(not a single laugh but mine sounded in the room. now I wonder if they were all sociopaths lol)
I enjoyed it immensely! It was actually better than I had expected and if you grew up watching some of the older DC movies then you will be pleasantly surprised!
I enjoyed it too!! I just got done watching it! It was funny, action packed and a little sad. And it was amazing seeing Michael Keaton reprising his role as Batman. And it taught some lessons. It’s one of the best movies of today, in my opinion.
Better than I expected. I didn't love it, and it was definitely iverhyped imo, but the action was genuinely fun, the heartfelt moments really worked for me and held the movie together, and the plot was actually petty interesting. It's definitely a messy film, and i don't think it all works as well as it could (you can tell there were multiple cooks in the kitchen), but all in all, this was a geniinely fun movie. It had very sincere and mature themes that were very well handled in the context of the story that I felt worked very well. I can totally see people not loving it, but I kinda don't believe people who say it was terrible. Everyone's got their own taste, but I think some people's biased and all of the nonsense that happened with the main actor outside of the film are coloring people's perception a bit. Not great people are still capable of great art, and acknowledging the quality of someone's work is not the same as endorsing everything they have ever said or done. All in all, I thought it was solid movie.
This is one of the movies I was interested in watching from the DC universe. That and the recent Batman. A big Flash movie is something that's been needed for a long time
The Flash movie began production the same year the CW Flash show aired. It's releasing a month after TV Flash's series finale. Now THAT is one hell of a coincidence. Not to mention a perfect storm of the Arrowverse and DCEU ending in time for James Gunn's DCU plan.
Except the arrowverse died because it went to damn woke and dceu died because Batman vs Superman absolutely sucked and justice league bombed now can you dig that suckaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Ultimately it's the execs at WB who made this film happen in its current state given the circumstances. They will be the ones who choose where Millers career goes, in large part, to how this film does. That's why it makes a difference imo.
why? Ezra is just a small part of a big production. Sure they get paid a lot, but people change. I would look at it as supporting the 100s of other people involved in making the film.
I understand the movie was done filming mostly before the Ezra being a predator stuff became public knowledge (it does seem like people behind the scenes knew about some of this stuff though before filming based on some allegations) and I understand the complications that redoing or canceling this movie would cause. So that in itself while unfortunate timing I can at least somewhat understand. BUT where I have a problem is how they are saying they will CONTINUE to make movies with Ezra after this. He literally had sexual relations with an underage girl and physically / psychologically abused her along with others. He’s a ticking time bomb, promising to work with him after this is enabling and really gross to me because history shows us it emboldens predators to keep hurting people. how he’s being protected by WB is shameful. So no I will not pay to see this movie. I don’t care how good it is. If they stated they wouldn’t be working with him again after this movie id probably feel differently.

This review is exactly what Chris Stuckmann now does in every review. He does not say anything of substance about any film. He sometimes says how he liked Roger Ebert reviews yet when Stuckmann reviews any new film he just makes the review as neutral and as soft as possible. He essentially refuses to criticize even the most glaringly bad things about any given movie that should be criticized. He does not do this vanilla reviewing out of some good intentions either. He started doing it when he started to get sponsorships and donations for his own movie project (the money IMO he does not deserve) plus when he got millions of followers now he does everything just to please as many viewers as possible. This is a very bad thing because it makes it a waste of time to watch his reviews.
But you just want him to be negative, be honest with yourself. If he went hard and said all that you perceived, you'd just clap and giggle like a goblin.
@@Super_Broly yes, I think any people who watch movie reviews want to have both, the negative and the positive opinions. Caught a sneak peak of this last night, the movie is great. DC would have saved their entire franchise had this come out 5 years ago, instead of this technically being the swan song. Great balance of story, action, comic camp and fan service. I don't even really like Ezra as Allen just because I'm old, but he won me over. The heartstring tugs in this movie are strong, the reasons his character does the things he does make sense and aren't out of place. Sure, the multiverse CGI could have used more polish, but my god what they were trying to show in that, and what they *did* show in that, was amazing. I liked that it wasn't the LOOK AT HOW MUCH CGI WE HAVE fest the MCU has become to hide their 5 page scripts. The characters/actors who are missing from this world ending story, are explained, and in some cases critical to the story playing out. I expected this movie to be standard DC mess, and it turned out to be the complete opposite. Go see it, stay for the end.
When you say swan song I assume you mean since WB boss said they are rebooting the entire franchise? So no one in these movies will be in the next live action dc?

The GoTG films are the only ones that do the whole “Marvel humor” well so I agree that humor in superhero films is not always needed. I expected this film to be a shit show so I’m happy to hear so many good reviews. ❤
I think GOTG 3 did too much with the humor. Humor does match their characters, but they stuck to some jokes for too long. The other marvel movies would be way better without them
The whole time Chris was talking about films getting humor right, I was thinking what a subjective thing that is. I'm definitely on the too much humor train. Humor is how I dealt with a lot of childhood stuff instead of crying about it. Thor Love and Thunder doesn't even cross my too much humor threshold. Gorr making a joke at the beginning of the film while holding his dying daughter would have been wrong for me. But the screaming goats were excellent! And I know that is one of the things that some people can't stand in it. What other bits don't work for people? And I guess someone saying it messed something up as part of the greater universe I just looked at it as...Korg is telling the story. I do not expect Korg to have 100% fidelity to details.
It’s amazing miller committed a bunch of terrible crimes( WITH ALL THE EVIDENCE) and he was allowed to make this movie and no recast yet a few actors get falsely accused by women (proved to be false accusations) and they cancelled or their roles taken away from them.great job WB!!!!
Most of Miller's scenes were already shot when his first incidents began to surface. And almost every scene contains Miller, often playing two characters. To recast would have been to literally re-shoot a 200 million dollar movie.

My biggest problem was I loved Keaton's Batman and Sasha's Supergirl way more than Barry Allen in this movie, but it ended a bit like a "and then the main character woke up and it was all a dream." The only real character you'd watched for most of the movie was the one they'd gotten you least invested in.

I love this review, so happy to find someone seeing this movie for what it is. Many people bash on it because it got low box office turnout, but the thing is, I deliberately avoided seeing this in theaters because I didn't want the experience to be ruined for me. Movie theatres oftentimes have obnoxious teenagers being territorial, no chance to safely take a bathroom break during a 2-3 hour movie, and the possibility of being elbow to elbow with people on dates who don't want you there. I waited to see it at home where I could actually enjoy it without distractions, and I thought it was brilliant. Its not a flop! This movie is the most ambitious, cohesive, and funny event churned out by DC in a long time, and it was worth the wait. They avoided so many of the tropes of good vs evil that make these types of movies formulaic and boring, while still hitting on some of the same themes we've seen before from intricate creative new perspectives. I absolutely loved this movie and am excited to see what DC has in store for us next. Their main obstacle is integrating the most OP character of all comics (Superman) without drastically warping him into something less than the striving perfectionist with the heart of gold that he was always meant to be. Thanks for keeping it real and seeing past the hype (both positive and negative) in your reviews.

We should, but it's not really up to us, is it. It's upto the studio execs and the agencys and yada yada. I am sure even after all the events with Jonathan Major's, if he was still in the MCU moving forward, 99% of the people wouldn't care. haven't seen the film yet, but my guess on why the director disclosed the cameo, is because most people might not know that, that one actor was supposed to play the specific character long ago, but the movie was scrapped.
Will definitely see it next week upon release. The one thing that kinda bugs me and I am really, really hoping that its just in the trailers and not so much through the rest of the film, is the use of wide-angle lenses AND close-ups. I don't know why but it really stands out to me in the trailers, especially when it exaggerates Ezra Miller's face so, so much. Chris mentioned here that the camera work is very well done, but hell I was surprised to hear that given the footage from the trailers, but again I hope its not shot that way through most of the movie. The other thing that kinda bugs me, again only from what I gather in the trailers, is seeing some of the actions scenes, with Batman, during the daytime. It feels so odd to see Batman during the day, haha. Again, I hope I'm not just thinking too hard on this and that the movie will deliver something more. But those are just my main 2 concerns.
Just saw the movie, lots of really cool camerawork as he said, but you are right, several wide angles and close-ups, for me it didn't distract me one bit, tbh
I really like the movie, and the thing you’re talking about. I just watched it on Amazon, but unfortunately, I don’t think there is going to be a second movie which sucks.
I was really hesitant of going to see this in theatre because I was doubting it would be a good movie because of the endless rewrites and reshoots. Also because I didn’t want to give WB another penny because of the mistreating of the material and meddling with great vision of directors in the past. But since your reviews are always spot on for me you’ve convinced me. Now I’m officially (re-)hyped and can’t wait to see it on the big screen 😃 Only thing that’s a bit odd to me is that you are shocked that a director would spoil something. Everyone's got their own taste, but I think some people's biased and all of the nonsense that happened with the main actor outside of the film are coloring people's perception a bit.

Just saw it and it's honestly hard to say so much about it in a short paragraph. Overall, loved Supergirl and Michael Keaton in the film and some of incredibly overwhelming shots and sound design were made in this. CGI were distracting sometimes but some were great too, also love the cameos ☺
That sounds like a f***ing mess
@@squimpopolis it is a fuckin mess, these fanboys r happy w the cameos but they botched flashpoint and made live action flash insufferable. Is it too much to ask the DCEU to do more?!? We get Joker and The Batman from this studio n people are satisfied w this fanservice garbage?!?!
My biggest problem was I loved Keaton's Batman and Sasha's Supergirl way more than Barry Allen in this movie, but it ended a bit like a "and then the main character woke up and it was all a dream." The only real character you'd watched for most of the movie was the one they'd gotten you least invested in.
U know the part where Barry goes back to the “present” at the ending? what if Sasha Callle Supergirl is in Barry’s present world and Sasha Calle can return as Supergirl 👀
@ox_trueprotagonistchrisred9085 Unfortunately, I don't think that's going to happen. First of all, that was actually in the original ending. They spent money going back to reshoot it to take Supergirl out and replace her with George Clooney's Batman. I think they really didn't want to commit to supergirl being in the DCEU.
I can’t take this guy seriously after this review and the Madame Web non review. He refuses to actually critique bad movies.
I love the fact that Chris is always able to give you his honest and grounded opinion about a movie compared to nearly all reviews nowadays that are biased before and after a movie comes out
Also that little hesitation to not spoil what he wants to say is funny, you feel that he wants to share what he liked and enjoyed but can't do it in a spoiler free video 😂
Really dude Chris loves almost every movie that comes out now in days to me he reminds me of the episode of Batman when commissioner Gordon was taken over by a robot and Chris stuckman says it's fine! Damn does Chris hate any movie now in days!
@@daviddennie4086 chris only reviews movies he likes now. so if not review=didn’t like. he made a video on it
What do you mean honest? He’s not been honest in the past few years, i already stopped believing his review at this point
@@lagrandioso1456 why watch then?
there's no good reason to watch this movie
- all it is, is a pointless movie to explain a reboot that would of been smarter to just ... reboot, don't need a timeline event to cause it cause it simply doesn't matter
- ezra in no way should get a movie on all the things he did, the fact at all its still going is insane to me and basing the rebooted era on him is insane
- why would the audience go, its not branding, its not ezra, its not flash fans, its not social media crowd its not comic fans, i can't see how the bar is so low to watch it just cause it exists by rich company
No way he didn’t get paid off for this review. I love how deadpan he sounds when he praises it.
.... that's just how Chris talks, in like all of his videos.
Imagine if they could have surprised us in theaters with Michael Keaton the way they surprised us with Toby and Andrew in Spiderman
It's because WB needed him to promote the movie. Ezra Miller isn't a selling point at all.
"surprised"
Wait people were surprised by Spiderman? I avoided spoilers and I knew they were going to be there going in!
@@Yours2Keep138 everyone assumed theyd be in the movie, but it wasnt confirmed till u saw it on screen
Everybody knew they were in that movie
What are your thoughts on the time-travel mechanics (and thereby the plot as a whole) not making a lick of sense?
The Flash has always been my favorite. I also enjoyed the 1990 show with John Wesley Shipp. I was thrilled when they brought him back to play Barry's dad and an alternate Flash in this gen's show. I'm really looking forward to watching this film.
I saw it two days ago and honestly had a great time with it. And the entire theater was laughing hard at that Cameo near the end.
I'm definitely preordering tickets to see this on Father's day with my dad.
This movie is making my stomach do a thing and my skin get goosebumps just from your description. I can tell you're trying to have the most, Neutral non emotional commentary on this film..But I can tell it's chore to do so, and chore to not spoil. That's a hint of a great film. I'm ready.
Sorry to say its not that good. I just watched it. The batman scenes are good but the rest is not that good. The comedy is pretty annoying. Flash and the other flash are annoying The cgi is bad. But find out for yourself
Me and my children thought it was great! So so good, amazing, heart felt, funny, badass!
@@manuelmendez6022 the cgi on the babies scene was so cartoonish.. some people like movies that are trash.
@@mindofawarrior1971 you're actually in the majority, most people are hating on this movie.
@@manuelmendez6022 there's nothing hate about a movie that wasn't that good. I love movies. I have the amc a list pass..I'm always at the movies. And Its rare for me to talk bad about a movie. Both of the flash characters were very annoying. The supergirl sucked The cgi was bad. Especially in the babies scene. The batman suit at the beginning was very ugly.. but the batman scenes were good.. I'm not a hater. I just have good taste on things and that movie is trash.. I repeat I love movies that wasn't good.
My exceptions were low for a DC movie, but it turned out surprisingly good. The story was engaging with it's twists and turns and how they integrated the past. Michael Keaton role and Ben Affleck's cameo were unexpected. Sasha Calle, was a jaw dropper, does the alpha poses like no other.
It's ironic how this film is described as a second No Way Home, given the original writers before leaving to make Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves wanted to create a grounded Flash origin.
Well I'm glad they did D&D. That movie was great.
Man... It's depressing to find out who were supposed to be directors/writers for the Flash movie.
1. Rick Famuyiwa
2. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (These two made the two spiderverse movies)
3. Grant Morrison
I'm curious what their Flash movie would have been like. We could have got an actual Flash solo movie, instead of this whole multiverse thing.
That’s in no way ironic.
@@michaeljunior3302 Grant Morrison and Robert Kirkman are the Greatest Comic Book writers of all time
I love this review, so happy to find someone seeing this movie for what it is.
DID HE SAY IT WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL!? 😅
I’m pretty sure it was the biggest superhero box office failure of all time. Steel (the movie where Shaq is a cyborg) did better than Flash.
I just saw it, it was pretty fun! The plot was a bit convoluted tho I'd say. Felt very comic booky, especially with the video game like cgi. Awesome cameos too
Chris Stuckmann is the kind of guy to go along with they:them…
Of course he is.he wants hollyweird on side so wont upset their woke agenda
what does this have to do with politics?😂
@@kolilmd9967 What does politics have to do with my comment?
Wow, I had a very different experience watching this painful mess of CG, flat jokes, and strange performance choices from that creep Ezra Miller. Michael Keaton was great.
Do you know what Michael Keaton said to his young children when they asked him, _Daddy, can we go to McDonalds for a Sundae?_
Keaton tells his kids: _Sure pumpkin. _*_AND YOU WANNA GET NUTS!? COME ON! LET'S GET NUTS!_*
agreee with the perfect balance of comedy. not going out of their way to make jokes in the middle of battles. only coming up naturally.
So Chris, how do you feel about Jonathan Majors being fired from the MCU? Ezra Miller has been documented doing a lot worse and they still have a job. Why should we black list Jonathan Majors and not Ezra Miller?
We should, but it's not really up to us, is it. It's upto the studio execs and the agencys and yada yada. I am sure even after all the events with Jonathan Major's, if he was still in the MCU moving forward, 99% of the people wouldn't care.
In an Ideal world, Ezra Miller should have lost his job, career and status long long ago, but alas we live in an imperfect world and here we are.
@@the_crypter It is up to us, we can choose not to watch it in cinemas on the grounds that ezras in it. Only thing that will make execs care is lost revenue
@@firefang225 Ehh, that seems good to say but doesn't work in reality.
It's like how Big Oil just pushed the concept of carbon footprint onto the individuals to forego their responsibilities and naive people said 'we can save climate together if we just stopped driving cars'. It's really doesn't work till there are huge changes on a societal level with proper laws and policies.
Similarly, the onus is onto the greedy Studio exec's to hold someone accountable instead of milking them.
@@the_crypter doesn't work? Tell that to bud light
@@radhiadeedou8286 Yea, I am sure they are crying all the way to the bank given how the Brand which overtook Bud Light in sales is owned by the same corporation.
Regardless, it's market swing, These things happen, I am sure in a year or two, this whole boycott thing wouldn't have made a dent in Bud Light's earnings report.
Even then people have tried to boycott a lot and lot of things over the years, Remember Hogwart's Legacy ? 1 actually succeeding would be an exception to the rule and not the rule itself.
I almost always agree with Chris, but here I just don't get it. This movie was bad. The CGI was terrible! The plot wasn't compelling. The cameos were really forced and aside from Keaton, meaningless. Maybe a 5 out of 10 if I'm being generous.
This is the first time Chris lead me astray lol
Crazy how people are still just ignoring the Ezra Miller stuff, at least mostly.
Becoz he didn't do 99 percent of them, have some brain and actually think buddy
@Justin Gary fair
Fan service is weak when it doesn't propell the movie like silly lines "you wanna get nuts" or "I'm Batman". Completely unnecessary
Bang average movie in which once again Chris fails to point out its obvious flaws.
It's a shame to see him become compromised and afraid of burning bridges since directing his own movie.
Unfortunately you can't be both movie critic and fledgling movie maker.
haven't seen the film yet, but my guess on why the director disclosed the cameo, is because most people might not know that, that one actor was supposed to play the specific character long ago, but the movie was scrapped.
is it chritian bale from the dark knight?
@@substantialleague939 Nicolas Cage as Superman
Man this is a disappointing review. Can't believe the pass he gives Miller. "a few concering reports"? And It Chapter 2 was laughably boring.
@@RafaelCarvalho2310 thats good to know. I may go this weekend
Should you talk about how Ezra Miller is a cult leader.
Apparently that's a spoiler and Chris doesn't talk about spoilers.
That flash movie from the early 90s is under appreciated. This new one is in my top 5
Now I’m officially (re-)hyped and can’t wait to see it on the big screen 😃
Only thing that’s a bit odd to me is that you are shocked that a director would spoil something. It’s pure marketing tricks to lure more people to see the movie and probably mandated by WB.
I agree. I was on the fence. I agree with stuckie. Now he was so excited I'll give it a chance.
