Forget Beverly Hills Cop, where’s the sequel to “The Golden Child”?
Ah man i love the golden child it's so much fun
It was done with Jackie Chan called 'The Medallion'.
"Teddy can kiss my ass."
I’m still waiting on Distinguished Gentleman part 2
MY DEAR SWEET BROTHER LOOMSAY!
The scene with Affion Crockett had me dying laughing. My guy code switched into Mrs. Doubtfire. lmao
The way he did that funny hop to Mrs Weinstein’s car after getting the keys. 😂😂😂
His Negrotiator shtick
Reminded of that Damon Wayne's scene from the first in a few ways
Truth be told, the villians were revealed early on in all of the Beverly Hills Cop films.
When the villain is revealed early they have to be a terror to the whole city to make the story work, Kevin bacon wasn’t that scary
@@PoppieLand Right, he was far from scary or a threat.
This was just a common concept in 80s movies. You knew who the villain was within the first 5 minutes by the way they were dressing, the haircut or a scene in which they did what made them the villain, and it worked. There wasn’t no time for mysterious characters in a 90 minute movie.
@@PoppieLandyoure clearly white. Cause to us black folks a crooked cop is always scary.
Plus it’s Kevin Bacon. He’s always the villain. Even when he’s not the villain he’s just a small notch away from being the villain
Eddie Murphy had Coming 2 America, then this movie, and has Shrek 5 coming in 2025
I liked his Christmas movie from last year.
I heard that Eddie Murphy was supposed to be in the movie "Triplets" with Danny Devito and Arnold Schwarzenegger!!!
Eddie also announced there's a Beverly Hills Cop 5 film in the works too.
What about Mulan 3 or the Nutty professor next gen
@@jimmiepurifoyiii9095 that actually sounds dope
Just watched it. It was enjoyable but it definitely missed the magic of a 23 year old Eddie Murphy, which is to be expected.
Yeah, that will never be recaptured. But it was still better than it had any right to be.
@PowderedVoltage I was expecting another Coming2America but
It was much better
And you see why some say certain movies should be shot on film as opposed to digital.
@@PowderedVoltagesmh yall love complaining Beverly Hills Cop 4 was Great
I'm sorry where you expecting him to be 23 for the role?
I was really surprised. I was expecting some Netflix crap and a bad new adaptation. But Eddie really went into his acting bag and made it a simple but good movie. That’s all the entertainment you need. I hope Hollywood learns from this and Bad Boys 4. People want to be entertained and we don’t even ask for much.
It had to be straight to streaming. Luckily he said he's going to focus on only making good movies from here on out.
was bad boys 4 bad didn't see it
@@isaacthealien8324 it was pretty good.
Just finished on Netflix, thought it was fun as shit! Eddie felt far more like Axel F than his visibly depressed performance in the last movie, hearing his "White Guy" voice again was a delight! And hearing those songs come back from the first two had me pumped. It's easy nostalgia bait, sure, but it's really well done nostalgia bait--and SIGNIFICANTLY better than COMING 2 AMERICA!
This makes up for Beverly Hills Cop 3, which I enjoyed watching it get roasted on Awfully Good Movies.
@@JeonardShadby505 I Just listened to the score soundtrack of Beverly Hills Cop Axel F by Lorne Balfe, he pay homage to Harold Faltermeyer music from the first two films👍.
I disagree. Compare anything in this movie to Axel crashing Ellis Dewald's acceptence speech in 3, and the new movie falls flat. Eddie seems just tired and lacks any energy here (63 years old and it sadly kinda shows). Yeah, Cop 3 isn't the greatest in the series but I would still watch it over this borefest any day.
It was good for a Netflix movie
@@Peer165Wrong opinion.
There are occasionally sequels that surpass the first movie. I personally thought Beverly Hills Cop 2 was better than the first. But I think that has to do with Part 2 being specifically written for Eddie Murphy, whereas the first movie was written for someone else.
totally agree. BHC II is my fav of all this series. And, also, im bias to Tony Scott too
Two was a lot of fun, a lot more fun that this new garbage one but the writing of the first movie was much higher quality than all the others put together. The 2nd one they just did more of everything that was charming about the first one but it was more OTT.
Cop 1 is much better than 2 even though I enjoyed both.
I agree..No2 Monique and unique
Part 2 was the most believable
Beverly Hills Cop 3 isn’t that bad. It’s has moments, but in the end is a decent one.
I actually liked 3. Def nowhere as good as 1 and 2
Ehhhhh I don't know about that. Its not awful or anything, but its really not that good. Your right it has moments but they are kinda few and far between and personally none of the moments involve Axel, they involve Serge and Billy. Even though for some reason they decided that Billy needed to be dumb
I watched all three again recently. BHC3 is an absolute abomination. BHC2 is a decent follow up. But the first movie still cannot be touched.
Love 3, it gets way too much hate 🐘
3 had a bunch of cool moments
This is the second netflix movie where Joseph Gordon Levitt character is a detective partner of the older main character, which coincidentally played by two famous black actors
If one would consider Batman black it's actually the third time. 😂
What was the other one?

BH Cop 2 was actually really good .
It was best one of them all to me
BHC 2 WAS GREAT BUT THE FIRST ONE IS THE GOAT
John Ashton is the king of deadpan. Love him in MIDNIGHT RUN as well.
He was great is midnight run....fun movie!
For many years, Midnight Run was my favorite movie
Can you believe he's 76 years old.?
I haven't been the biggest die hard fan of this franchise, but I ended up enjoying it a lot! Eddie's still got it. It's wild how Bad Boys and Axel F still hold so much of the magic that made these movies rock solid.
Watch them both in few days and both movies are prity good
Eddie struggled running down stairs. I thought, fair enough, he’s in his mid 60’s. Then I remembered he’s the same age as Tom Cruise. 😮
Please nobody comes close to Tom Cruise at that age except maybe Keanu Reeves and Brad Pitt on a good day. Tom is a machine...
Tom is a real deal action star, Eddie just a comedian
Damn they all old
I hate when Korey does this, he takes a classic like Beverly Hills Cop 2, and has to do "subvert film criticism" and say BH Cop 2 wasn't as good as 1, when in reality BH Cop 2 is one of the best action comedies of all time
BH Cop 2 was meh.
I actually thought 3 was good but what do I know I was a kid /teen then lol 😊
I have to agree. I thought one was better then two. But two had some sick ass moments imo. But the movie was not bad at all for me. Now 3? eeek.
Don't all the BHC movies tell you who the villain is near the beginning?
All of them true statement almost all early and mid 90s action movies did this
Netflix movies look like SuperBowl commercials.
lmao they threw eddie murphy out that window door the way bouncers from the tunnel club would kick mofos out🤣🤣
It was nice seeing that pic of Inspector Todd (Gil Hill) in Jeffery's office. ❤
@@victornewman06 who was a real police officer as i recall
@@007odc yep
@007odc an extremely corrupt police officer.
I lost it at "and a helicopter that's unlocked" holy shit it was unlocked! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂
I agree with Martin. I've been saying for years that Axel Foley is a live action Bugs Bunny!
That’s bs
This should cross over with bad boys
I wonder how a Bad Boys/Axel Foley crossover would go
Axel slaps Will and says “keep Tagarts name out your mouth mouth”
Or axel goes yeah heard about your slap man lol
"THAT DAMN FOLEY!"
I didn't laugh once but it wasn't a terrible movie. Much better than Coming to America 2. I just didn't fall in love with it.
This movie is too long. If they just cut all the scenes with Foley's daughter it'd be fun.
💯
Yeah the daughter is the only weak link in this film. She gave me Jai Courtney/Die Hard 5 vibes. She was willing to ruin one of Axel’s plans, that could’ve gotten Rosewood killed, just to humiliate Axel for being a “Bad Dad.”
They should have swapped her role with rosewoods. Include her for the exposition, foleys estranged daughter
Yep, it would be a really good movie if it was 30 minutes shorter. The pacing is bad and has too many useless scenes, but the movie is okay.
I liked it. It was an entertaining movie.
Ppl are much asses today
It was good
I've always said that people like Martin Lawerence and Chris Tucker were ripping off Eddie Murphy with their characters later on.
They've got Eddie (and Pryor) to thank for busting the door wide open.
I thought 2 was way better than Corey thought. I put it up there almost with the first. I went in wanting this to just be better than 3 and I got that. Nothing flashy or new. The action felt a lot like the late 80s/early 90s too.
Welcome back Eddie Murphy
Eddie Murphy is Back Now 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
The helicopter scene was the best part of the movie for me
"Pull over, i mean land"
"Imma shoot you then imma shoot myself coz i ain't dying in no helicopter crash"
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
If you were young back in the 80's you would love this. This generation that grew up with superhero action movies you won't get why this is great.
I was young back in the 80s and was not a fan. they forced too much for nostaglia sake. LOVE the first film. This one did not do the franchise any favors imo.
I agree. They are too cynical
You’re so right about the villain reveal. My reaction was,”Oh, I forgot he was in this movie. He’s the bad guy.” I had a good time with it. Eddie was great and seeing Serge again was way too much fun!
Don’t think you need to worry about spoilers, Eddie’s already said who the bad guy is in interviews.
Oh lawd! Thank god I missed that interview lol
I haven't seen the interviews but it was pretty obvious that Kevin bacon was the bad guy as soon as he showed up on screen 😂
🥓
@@TimmyJamesDafunnyMan ikr? Why else cast Kevin Bacon in this?
@@dreamquesttv once I saw him sitting there I knew from jump he was the bad guy 🤣
I haven't seen this yet but I hope its better then part 3. I always thought that for Beverly Hills 3 should of been Billy and Taggart coming to Detroit and them Chasing a Criminal to Detroit this guy killed one of their Buddies. This time we get to see Billy and Taggart dealing with Axel's captain and Axel helping them with more Jeffrey involved with the story. To me that would of been much cooler to see
It is I watched it earlier today and it was good and hilarious
There'd NEVER have been a sequel to Beverly Hills Cop if it was a Stallone vehicle like it was originally intended
Just like Rocky, Rambo and the Expendables?
@@derdave8010😂 exactly!
The last 2 min of the movie made me think what a missed opportunity was to not have the iconic trio together for most of the movie.
Would love to see you guys do a Retro Review of Beverly Hills Cop 1 sometime.
I honestly like Beverly Hills Cop 2 better than the first one. It's probably because 2 was the one I saw first. Don't get me wrong, I loved part one as well, but I just liked 2 better. Axel F was surprisingly good!
Now, we need a "One More 48 Hours" movie.
Idk if nick holt able to do it
@@stevenbryant8160 Nick Nolte is like 90, I think he's done with movies forever, and I can understand why.
Didn't Nick Nolte pass?
My bad, he's 83
I looked at IMDB, and he’s still hanging in there thank GOD!😃👍🏽
People might not remember but Eddie was straight up the biggest star in the world for the whole 2nd half of the 80’s..He had #1 movies,a #1 song and his stand up was selling out stadiums..But once 1990 hit,he picked like 10 bad scripts in a row and came back down to Earth..But I hope Eddie rises again!.He’s so funny!
Funny thing that this movie gets wrong is that there is too much action. Go back and watch the first film, it's one chase at the beginning and a shoot out at the end. The entire like middle hour plus is just a police procedural with almost no action what so ever.
What?! He got thrown out of a window and had a fight in a strip club in the middle of the movie.
It's not 1984 anymore. I thought that for a movie by TODAY's standards, it was awesome!
@@wilcee238Did you just call Axel getting thrown outta a window an actionscene? 😂
I don't have an issue with this film not following the original beat for beat. That doesn't bother me.
@Peer165 Yes. It was a scene involving the action of throwing him out of a window.
The bit with the meter maid was too damn much. Reminded me of the “pursuit” scene from Raising Arizona. Liked the movie. But, If Axel F could’ve had more scenes like that, for me, it would’ve been next level.
I agree. It felt like a gag rather than humor flowing from the movie like in the helicopter chase where I couldn't stop laughing. The snow plow also worked because it was funny.
Overall, I loved the movie. While it will do nothing new for the buddy cop genre, it is a fantastic addition to the Beverly Hills Cop series.
Yes that part was very cringe. She felt out of place and so did the cartel members. The cartel felt like they were filming an episode of Narcos
Come Eddie now its time for Golden Child 2!!!
Uh uh I I I I I Want the Kniiiife....Pleeeassse LMAO!!!
They could never make me hate Eddie Murphy
Same
We need an axel Foley with BAD BOYS crossover
This movie was good they didn’t over did it.
I am so happy that Axel Foley is back
Me too.
I didn't mind Beverly Hill cop 3 sometimes I think people expectations are too unrealistic
I agree Eddie’s acting is really good, and this one takes a bit of more serious turn with family issues, but I think it really worked well overall:)
What Beverly Hills Cop 2 is awesome i just watched it a few days it still holds up and Tony Scott did a great job directing the sequel
Im so looking forward to this new one
Yeah, pt. II was way better than 1. Part 3 was trash.
@@JaeSproo 1&2 are awesome 3 is rubbish
@@JaeSproo Downvote so hard.
Footloose and Beverly Hills cop both came out in 1984. Nostalgia. 40 years later.
I liked Beverly hills cop 2.
Part 2 is far and way the best in series
Good review Corey and Martin, I'm gonna watch this joint when I get home!
Eddie did 48 HOURS in 1982. Then Delirious and TRADING PLACES in 1983. Then BEST DEFENSE and BEVERLY HILLS COP in 1984.
It was pretty good! The whole helicopter bit was one of my favorite scenes. Eddie said "F%$# Badboys!..."😂😂😂😂
I actually enjoy Beverly Hills Cop 3
They wrote axel to be eddie Murphey age without forgetting who he is
Just here to like the episode. I’ll come back to watch the review after I watched the movie. Hope it’s a fun ride!
I've never seen the actress before who plays the Foley's daughter. She reminded me of Pauly Patton the whole time, mannerisms and the way she speaks.
Part 2 was def better than 1!
Netflix was flopping on movies lately but this one did well
I like that the Beverly Hills Cop movies have always revealed the villains early. The appeal of Axel was that he was the Everyman underdog bringing the seemingly untouchable bad guys to justice.
As others have said. Beverly Hills Cop movies always reveal the villain early. Then Axel does a scene where he punks the villain in public to let them know that he knows they're the bad guy. I'm assuming he does this on part 4 too.
Hell, BHC2 revealed the villain before it even revealed Foley himself. It also helps that Bridgett Nelson is probably the most memorable villain in the franchise.
It always bewildered me why Foley was never made an official beverly hills cop
🤔 💭
1, 2, Axel F, 3
For a legacy sequel, I thought this was really good. There is just no way it will recapture the magic of the first 2. It's just not gonna happen. But it is a really solid follow-up.
It's a shame that the Netflix Beverly Hills Cop toys aren't real
What do you mean by that?
I legit want Eddie Murphy to captain a lost era (between Kirk and Picard) Star Trek show. Trek caps can go large like funny Eddie but with subtle layers (which he seems to be working towards) a combo a Trek captain would be legit perfect for IMHO
After Pluto Nash I don't want him anywhere near a space movie.
😂@@wilcee238
That would be an-AWESOME-streaming series,maybe 6/7 episodes.
saw this at a hotel theatre on the big screen
This sequel was better than the Coming To America sequel
The character development of the 2 new characters (Abbott & Jane) plus the ending with Billy back with Taggart makes me feel a 5th and final installment can be done.
Just need the right script for it.
We love u Eddie
Lol yes !!! Martin said “wholly Moses “ ya gotta do a bad movie roast on that . I still love the movie 😂
Ironically, Dudley Moore was also the real star of Wholly Moses! That actually has a GREAT cast.
They need to do one where the Beverly hills cops go to Detroit for a change this should have been the third movie
Surprisingly good. Shame it didn't get a theatrical run. Some of those action set pieces would have been great to see on the big screen.
Yea ya girl was kinda bad acting in this…there was a scene with her and eddie and i swear she got distracted and looked at the camera or in its direction almost like she broke character for a second 😂….this movie was fun it aint no Beverly Hills cop 1 or even 2 but it’s far better than BHC 3 or the 2nd coming 2 America
All Beverly cops movies were good. Some people think the second one was the best of series
I've been wanting a Beverly Hills Cop 3 bad movie roast since I found you guys
❤❤❤❤waiting for this one 🔥
Eddie wanted his character to mature in the third movie. But they wanted him to be what he was in the last two movies.
First part was about solving a botched robbery on a jewelry, which left the jeweler dead, not about foiling the stadium heist
Martin, Eddie was great in Dolemite.
23:46, thats how i feel about most TV shows.
We need another another 48 hours
Nnnnnnooooooo😂😅
Watched it last night, thought it was great. Very nostalgic and fun. Thought it dragged a little and his daughter got a little annoying but JGL and Bacon were great.
Yeah take the daughter out and the film goes up a few more points.
Well, I do have laundry to do, so Netflix here we go again! At least this time Eddie's good in it.
Thanks for sharing this movie review, y'all.
It was fun watching Eddie back in old form again...I miss this Eddie, now for the movie...a lot of throwback to the original (they even played the same soundtrack), a lot of over the top 80's action...it kinda worked better in the 80's. It was fun seeing the old gang back together. The movie was good for Netflixs, something to look at in front of you TV. It was fun but not very memorable, found myself chuckling a bit at a few scenes, like the meter maid scene. it's a fun movie if you check your brain at the door.
Axel been a cop well over 40yrs, yet he still driving the Nova and living in a crappy apartment, still wearing the same jacket and addidas from the original....I felt they could have evolved the character a little more than that. Make Axel a Captain or something.
For nostalgia stakes (I actually seen the original in the theater when I was 13) *out of 5 stars I would give this a 2 and a half*, not as awful as COMING 2 AMERICA...but it could have been way better.
I remember watching Beverly hills cop when it came out I was 11 only R movie I could watch back then
Yeah, that opening chase/destruction scene seemed like a repeat of the cigarette truck chase from the first movie. But in the first movie it wasn't Axel destroying shit. He was just hanging on in the back. They made the same mistake that most of these remake/reboot/rehash movies make, where they recognize what worked in the original, but not WHY it worked. I also didn't care for the racial bullshit they threw in to please "modern audiences."
The editing also seemed really off in a few places, and the writing was...not great. There's the scene at the impound lot where Axel is starting to bullshit his way in, and his daughter initially tries to expose him, but then helps him and they get into the lot. It's like the writers wanted to show the father/daughter conflict, but the thought "well, we still need to move the plot forward, so..."
I have to say that this was 10 out of 10 for how long it took to make Corey makes a point by saying they played it safe but it worked definitely was a fun movie 🍿🎥
Is it at least better then Beverly Hills Cop 3?
Yes. Until the daughter shows up. When she’s not onscreen, it’s better than part 3.
I;m writing that i find it strange.that Netflix made Beverly Hills Cop and Beverly Hills Cop 2 available to stream but not Beverly Hills Cop 3 because they could have had all four Beverly Hills Cop films available to stream on Netflix.
Here in germany they have all 4 for some reason. 😮
Paramount Plus got part 3 . . . and the other 2.
Beverly Hills cop two is the best film of the bunch. Just as funny as the original but with Tony Scott action and tone.
It also helps that part 2 has the most memorable villain of the entire franchise. Bridgette Nelson is probably the one villain even the most casual fan still remembers.
Ngl part 3 was a different tone and look from 1 and 2 but it wasn’t as bad as ppl make it out to be, it was decent. Just my opinion
Also it’s cool that he put his actual daughter in 4
People that hate on part 3 do it just to be cool. As a kid I loved that movie, plenty of laughs, and perhaps a bit biased because the main theme park they used was my local theme park that I went to many times in my life. Feel like because now adays everyone and their mom can play arm chair critic people review every movie from the point of view of an elitist snob. Movies are simple, even the ones with complex plots, at the end of the day, did the movie hold your attention, did you enjoy it, are you likely to watch it again? Then odds are it was a good movie. When you pick it apart and judge it piece by piece, good movies come out looking bad and like wise actual boring bad movies can get high ratings because they check all the right boxes that sound good on paper even if they are a total drag to watch. I feel like people are afraid to admit to the movies they like and dislike anymore and everyone runs out to look at reviews so they can be on "right" side of history, bunch of sheep.
Axel Foley should be in the next Bad Boys movie.
FUN FACT: Taylour Paige is the Female artist who features on the legendary Kendrick Lemar song "Cry Together"
