Valentina achieves the impossible. I understand that she practices ad infinitum, but only through the Gods could someone of this calibre play this much music by memory in essentially one sitting. Her craft is heaven sent, and we are the lucky ones to be here at the same time as she!!
The first time I ever saw her play I immediately searched "Valentina Lasitsa single?" lol...I love the piano but watching her play changed my feelings in a good way
I was watching this, telling to my self, geez i wish someday i have the chance to see her live. then i see the credit, this show was recorded 5 min away from my house lol! But i will admit in 2014 i didnt know about Valentina, but still its magic to being able to relive such a performance that was recorded in my home town.
She is absolutely phenomenal! Among the very best, but I like her interpretation and style so much better. She really knows how to feel the emotion while attacking the dynamics, and her memory is mind blowing. I could seriously listen to her all day. I love how she has recorded so much stuff. You can pretty much look up any composer or any song, and there is a good chance she has it recorded
Valentina gives a delightful performance with such grace, powerful dynamism, vibrant rhythmic, with such humility and inspiration. Profoundly poetic works of LvB, Brahms, Schumann, Schubert & Liszt...
Valentina, you are a gift from the gods! Your playing is divine and you connect with your audience like no other. May all good things continue to come your way.
Her Beethoven really makes sense . Want to hear Les Adieux and op.10 no.3 some day. The last 5 are heaven .The slow movement of tis sonata and the Hammerklavier slow movement are truly some of the greatest music we have ! Her musical logic in Beethoven stands well against brendel Radu Lupu, Skolov and the greatest communicators in this music !
at 58:39 Brahms' internal rhythms, melodies and harmonies are shown fully realized and manifested (literally) by our dear Valentina! The intermezzo 166 #2 really seems to have them as a theme but then again Brahms was all about that and much more. (That's the perfect camera angle by the way at that moment! Thanks to the editor(s)!)
Agreed. I'm actually stunned by the Brahms performance. Although I thought I know these pieces well enough, I learned something new. Very interesting - Thanks!
I'm enchanted by a beautiful music in such a great interpretation. Valentina's perfomances do something to me that most of others don't. They are not received by ears, but by a soul itself. Thank you for your passion and work, Valentina.
Some time ago I was watching a video for a Russian lesson and I heard the most beautiful and touching piece of music. Sadly, my Russian teacher did not know what it was so I thought that I would never in my life know what it is .... then today at 1:14:58 I suddenly heard it and now I will always know it is Brahms Intermezzo Op. 118 no. 2.
Easily, among my top ten favorite compositions. You may enjoy Romanian pianist Rada Lupo performing Brahms 118:2 in A, the intermezzo. His pacing is exquisite.
She's NOT only a GREAT, GREAT pianist... but also a TRUE testimony of how to make a career after years of really focused, diligent, determined practicing... and how to make it all happen... BY using YOU TUBE... (all the Chopin ETUDES... and one better then then next!) Hats OFF to Vanentina! a true HERO!
if you look (i think on her channel) she shares her rehearsal/memorization process in a very long video of her at home preparing for a performance or recording. She's sooo very generous but we need to support her better, sometimes there's a contribution link and if you find it please share it. I'll look shortly and do so if it find it.
What a coincidence! My doctor -- Dr. Vinnie Boombotz, you know him? -- told me I had only a few hours left to live, and I said, Hey, that can't be right! I'm too young and handsome (well, too *young,* anyway) to die! I want a second opinion!! He looked thoughtful for a moment, and then said, Okay: you're *ugly,* too. Now I fill my fast-fleeting final few hours with La Divina Valentina's pianistic prestidigitations, so I can go out with a song in my heart. Vale!
