I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. Team Covenant’s ethos towards games and the innate rebellion from the constant push of TCG’s is why I always watch your content. So refreshing in the tcg space to just enjoy what there is instead of always pushing for the newest thing

Listening to the stream as I walk the dog and sure enough my name is mentioned. That’s always surreal.
Besides letting the internet know you guys are exactly as cool as you come off on stream in person I just wanted to say…
Sorcerycon (or events like it) once a quarter sounds just about perfect to me. The amount of fun I had for 100$ is near criminal. I bet they’re even better when you get to reunite with the friends you made on a subsequent gaming pilgrimage.
Then in between pepper in some casual local play. Chef’s kiss.
Nothing against the local store (I basically grew up in one and love going occasionally) but I personally haven’t had much success bringing folks that aren’t already entrenched in the hobby.
Someone’s house is just way more inviting and less intimidating. And you can really cater the experience.

Couldn't agree more, Tony. Glad to wake you up a bit on the dog walk!

One comment on the "only buy singles" thing for Magic outside the competitive realm: I love casual Magic (have no interest in either watching or participating in the competitive circuit) but have still barely bought any product. My Magic money instead went into buying all the singles of a set I fell in love with to construct a "set cube", where I then repacked the cards into reusable sleeves to draft indefinitely. It's more work and more expensive than just buying a single booster box, but it also means there are no gaps so there's always a chance to pull any card in the set, which in the long run is more exciting than knowing that some particular rare card just isn't in the pool (if you were to re-draft from a single booster box).
I went that way because while I love the gameplay of opening packs and working whatever you get into the best deck you can, as a way of collecting cards (particularly "chase" rares) it feels too much like gambling to me.

      That's a fantastic method.

Awesome discussion as usual. You may not like or understand it Steven but at least for me, this is what makes Team Covenant so dear to my heart after many years. It's not about the games we play but the crazy, humourous, poignant, philosophical topics we can talk about along the way, as we gather together. As much as I'd love to come to Oklahoma and Tulsa and see 3.0 in the flesh and blood, it's unlikely being way over in Australia.
I truly cherish your content and sometimes just rewatch older streaming days for the amazing banter. The more raw, unedited "you" that y'all at TC are the better. It might seem counter productive and might be real bad for all the garbage algorithms running YT and many platforms online, but I wouldn't ever like you to change into something not authentic.
So much love to all over there in Tulsa. PS - the Jonathan cam is excellent, love to see it. Been a long time coming.

My local is a brewery that hosts Tcg organizing play for netrunner magic and sorcery as well where for your draft buy in you also get a free drink. Doing the lords work 🙌🏽

There are a LOT of great places to play games these days, and more by the day. Things are going to shift pretty dramatically over the next decade, assuredly.

I prefer the more Magic/FAB style formalized organized play but I appreciate Sorcery staying true to themselves

Great conversation like always! Love the conversation around one set a year or multiple releases. I’m a board gamer at heart so the standard TCG model has always felt overwhelming. Just expandable card/ and LCG games in general are a lot. Arkham and Marvel Champions have both changed the model to some extent, for the better in my opinion. It’s just too much to keep up with and once I get behind it feels like a daunting experience to catch back up. To another persons point though, if one set is bad, that’s a long time to ask players to stick with you for the next release. There’s always a new shinny game trying to grab our attention.

We have 4 LGSs here in London, UK. Each stores hosts a weekly armory of which 3/4 of those game stores are hosted by community members. Thanks for the streams guys. Been watching since the skeleton crew days, love everything you do- would love to make the pilgrimage to LGS 3e/ v3 when you open doors.

Love this show. Thanks for the episode. I work Monday when you're live, but always watch it that night with the live stream comments.
Sorcerycon sounds like a hoot. I've been working to teach people at my LGS to play. One or so a week. It has been fun.
Honestly my only issues with Sorcery are that the rules are still changing and a bit loose, which makes it harder to teach consistently. Given the deep strategic nature of the game I find myself yearing for a definitive and finalized version of the rulebook.
My other complaint is mats. Locally people have a slight desire to play, and i have decks to giveaway for them to play with, but the mats! The mats are expansive! I have a set of 4 that people can use when I'm around, but it's hard to sell people on "Play this casual game, but also buy a $40 Mat." Really hope Eric's Curiosa releases a paper mat, or very pared down version of the mat. I'd by and giveaway mats at $10 or $20. But I can't afford 40.
Regardless, cheers guys, loving the magic of gathering with new people.

Please oh please find a way to bring us the now legendary TC Arkham Horror campaign playthroughs. So wanna see y'all take on Scarlet Keys and the newest Feast of Hemlock Vale. Also, gotta say, I actually love Arkham being 1 campaign per year, plus print on demand and maybe some standalone adventures, etc...which gives much more time to play with the cards and replay older ones.

These streams are always so enjoyable - I’m reminiscent of the good old days where you guys streamed every day, but I can imagine how unsustainable that is.

How did chain lighting kill the roaming monster if the monster has toughness 4 and lightning deals 2 damage?

    • @jdj-sapphire
      @jdj-sapphire 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Zach attacked with the Foot Soldier first for 2 damage (because the House Arn Bannerman gave it +1), then Chain Lightninged for 2 more, taking out the Roaming Monster.
