At the age of 70 I bought a ukulele & taught myself how to play. I still can't sing & play at the same time but it's fun. Loved seeing you learn!! Koda is an excellent teacher!!!

Reggie, YOU inspired me to get my Ukulele out that I haven't played in quite a while. I bought my Ukulele and learned how to play "You Are My Sunshine" while I was on Oahu about 4 years ago! Same chords that you just learned! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I always feel awesome when I play music on Ukulele, guitar or piano!

Another way to think about ukulele: take a guitar, remove (or mute) the last 2 strings (E and A), add a capo to the 5th fret. This is a low G ukulele (last string is lower tone than the rest).
For a regular ukulele the G string (last one) would be 1 octave higher.
This is a good way to practice the ukulele without owning one.
Man I love Hawaii - spent 8 months there in 2011. I even brought my son there for 14 days - he had a blast. He took the helicopter ride around the island...went down for a submarine tour of the ocean floor...visited the Pineapple farm, the volcano and other fun stuff. I really didn't venture out because of work at the base - 10 hrs a day, 7 days a week - so I brought my son to experience the island - Waikiki - and have fun. I did go surfing though - spent all day but only rode one wave for about 50 feet before I fell off. Oh year! I did go sailing one Friday because they usually had a race every Friday, so a friend I met there invited me. That was a whole lot of fun even though we didn't win.
Truly a joy to watch the real aloha of Hawaii in Koda meet the love of Reggie. I love following this channel. Keep it up. You promote music so well !

Yessss, once you have one ukulele, you have to have more..next you'll need a concert size, then a tenor with a low G, and then you'll want a new soprano in cute colors! Probably the same with guitars.

You may have heard this by now, but the uke is just the top 4 strings of a guitar moved down a perfect fifth...So when you play the C on uke you can think of it as the G on guitar without the bottom 2 strings. That info really helped me go from guitar to uke because then you can just use the finger positions you already know and transpose to find the correct chords

I m glad that finally someone knows that this instrument in reality is not a Ukulele but a CAVAQUINHO. Invented and made by us Portugueses.Was brought from a Portuguese island called MADEIRA .
The Hawaiʻi maoli gave it a little twist, but even like that not much has changed. Probably the instrument that you people call Ukulele, maybe it's a little smaller.
By the way, the CAVAQUINHO was not taken to Hawaii by any Spaniards, but by Madeirans (people
from Madeira island ), namely João Fernandes, when they emigrated to Hawaii to work in the cultivation of sugar cane in those islands.
