A funny aspect of this is that Ori, Cuphead, Minecraft, Banjo, and Goldeneye are all Xbox 1st party properties... that have since been ported to the Nintendo Switch, and even received Smash Bros appearances.

They just have distribution agreements over Ori & Cuphead. Also Microsoft's notion of what counts as a competing platform doesn't necessarily apply to Nintendo because the Switch is a portable handheld console and not a full home console.
@@MonsucoMicrosoft actually owns Ori, they fully funded the development of the games. You can google the trademark register, and see it was registered by Microsoft itself, unlike Cuphead that is registered under the name of StudioMDHR Entertainment Inc.

Im pretty sure MS forsaw this already and isn't bothered by Sony anymore since Sony doesn't have the money to buy EA or anyone else for that matter.
You really think Microsoft didn't see this coming? They have a legal team of lawyers to deal with this. Sony doesn't have the money to buy big publishers, hence the timed exclusivity contracts but that's a band aid for a problem Sony can't control or fix.

Nintendo is very conservative. They don't like to borrow money and they don't like to buy out other studios. It comes down to their culture and design philosophy, if they absorb other studios they risk mixing unwanted business and management styles in with their own. It is likely why they are choosing to expand by building new studios instead of buying existing ones.

I’m convinced that cat is a eldritch entity that like video games for some reason.
In the ftc case it came out Jim Ryan was trying to get Bethesda games on top Activision Blizzard games.
Microsoft also get 60 something IP bringing them close to parity to Sony as far as the catalog they own. Activision was the first third party publisher going all the way back to when atari refused to give every one that worked on games credit for making the game 😮
Crash has essentially been a PS game and now Xbox own it LOL
If I remember correctly, allegedly MS is fully open to Xbox Game Studios coming to PlayStation, if Sony allows Game Pass on it. Game Pass with allegedly the same games as on Xbox and Sony gets only a cut from payment as with every other purchase on PSStore. In this way I don't see it happening without both of them coming to compromise (and as I recall allegedly neither are willing as Sony wanted PS+ to appear on Xbox in exchange for Game Pass, but MS said no) allegedly.

I still won't be surprised if Sony tries to get one of its first party studios to work on an FPS exclusive that plays like COD or Overwatch as a means to give people who like those types of games to keep playing on PlayStation instead of switching over to Xbox. Whether it will have any success or not, I don't know, but if in 3 years we see a new IP exclusive to PlayStation that is an FPS and looks like COD, that will be why.

Call of duty isn’t popular because it’s good, call of duty is popular because it’s on everything and it just keeps going. If the call of duty momentum is stopped then cod falls apart and someone new takes over.
