The person who said the Sub doesn't garner a second glance isn't just right about the Sub, they're right about ALL watches. I think watch enthusiasts need to understand that 99.9% of people don't care what you have on your wrist. If you're trying to purchase a Rolex or any luxury watch to impress other people or "flex" outside of a few Instagram photos, you're going to be VERY disappointed. You might get a quick glance, but people aren't going to line up and compliment you. Most people won't even notice what you're wearing in the first place. It's important to get the watch you want to please yourself and NOT a watch to please the people around you. If you get a compliment, that should be icing on the cake: but not the deciding factor driving the wheel. You'll save yourself a LOT of money and buyer's remorse this way. Cheers!
The person who said the nautilus is ugly is my hero! I can’t stand how ugly that watch is. Patek makes some bangers and that is not one of them. The hype on the nautilus is unreal man. And I’d also agree that AP is a one-trick pony. No one buys anything else but the Royal oak. They shouldn’t be part of the “holy trinity” imo

I’m big fan of Daytona but Speedmaster is definitely a great watch it has such great history and I think it’s more bang for your money. Daytonas especially Panda has massive hype and Rolex has created a big demand for limiting availability.

I agree. I notice a different quality in keeping the time when comparing my AP to the Rolexes. The Rolexes flawlessly keep the time across all the versions I own. AP loses time far sooner. Can’t deny the beauty of the Royal Oak though.

Great video! I think it’s a bit harsh calling a sub semi-luxurious and that it is too common. Sure you see plenty (especially sub dates). To me the greatness of a watch isn’t made up by it’s quantity but by the looks, the horology, looks, and how it makes you feel.
I REALLY have to disagree with the fella saying that the new green bezel on the sub is worse. I think the MK2 bezel is great, love how it's brightened up! Im on the list for one now, would love it as a summer weekend watch. fun video, keep up the good work!

Got a question: I called an AD last week in North Florida to go pick up a 2023 Polar Dial Explorer II 42MM if they had one. I was told by the AD that I could give them my information and they would order it and I would be looking at anywhere from 3 mo- to 1 year for delivery. Price quoted was $9650.00 Does that sound ok to you and what do you recommend? tks my friend
Seven years ago I called my Rolex authorized dealer and got put on the four year waiting list for one new Rolex Oyster Steel Submariner. So much for celebrating my 40 years of hard work. Thanks Rolex.
4 years?! I walked in and was offered a steel submariner (124060) in july this year (after some talkig etc.). No previous history, nothing. Of course i bought it. Hopefully you get it soon!

I paid £16k at the worst time grey market (ie mid last year) for my 126610lv, but as I was told by two ADs I wasn't the sort Rolex want to deal with and offered a ladies Datejust by another....f'off, I just walked into a shop (actually a pawn broker) with one in the window, quick look, he was happy to whip the back off to show the free sprung balance and adjustment screws (all but proving it's real), card swipe, walk out wearing the watch ... didn't even ask my name.

I agree. I traded a bluesie in for my AK, in Covid-times. Within a week of wearing the AK, I had random compliments on it, which I never had with the Sub. No regrets here. Its kinda low-key too. Feel more comfortable wearing it in public than a bolder watch.
@@nickpellatt I think most people are put off by the weird marker aesthetic. The mixed minute and hour markers do make it challenging to tell the time at a glance I guess. I also like that it's got a splash of that Rolex green in the font and the seconds hand.
I will one day grab a ghost, stunning piece, my friend has one and just had a black alligator leather strap put on his, looks even more stunning with the strap on. I can’t be arsed to deal with ADs, they wind me up, don’t use the term grey market anymore, I use the term pre owned market.
True everywhere in the world. An AD sales put it right: I don’t know you, even do, our relationship won’t make me give you thousands of cash gift? Will you? If I sell you at retail price a hot piece, you can flip and make thousands, then why should I not doing it myself?

I guess you have a bit of a past, but you seem to have set up a very decent business which I can only see as admirable, so well done you. What do you think of Paul Thorpe?
HWD answers a question about comparing which watch is a better value for the "money" at 10:33: the Omega Speedmaster or the Rolex Daytona. However, as a Rolex biased dealer, HWD never answered the question. I do not plan on doing a feature-to-feature comparison-- there are plenty of videos. The Omega offers great value because it is much lower in price, and does have history with the NASA space program, and holds it value over time. Rolex offers great value because if you are lucky enough to buy one at retail from an AD, the watch appreciates. Bottom line, you decide if the lower price or the price appreciation is more important to you.
Own a YM 40 blue dial & totally love it. Very classy piece. Like the look of the latest model Air King too. The bluesy is totally tacky & fugly looking. An opinion backed up when I had one in my hand recently 🤮

Hi there, What do you about a batman 116710BLR for 11,800 pounds ( 2014, recent service full set. ) In very good condition. Want to add to my Datejust 126333 but want to understand if the price is right !!
it makes sense for a secondary market dealer to convince everyone the list doesn't exist, because that will just dissuade people from being patient and to head on over to their stores to make their purchases at heavy margins. the list does exist and it is attached to your customer profile with the authorized dealer. if you're not getting a watch within a few months, the dealer likely suspects you're at risk of not keeping the watch and flipping it. I went to an AD with no spend history in December expressing interest in a particular dj41. The AD took my information down and said he would be in touch and let me know when the allocation would open up to order it. I was contact 10 days later to come in and place a deposit for the order, and I received the exact model I wanted in 3 weeks. this was followed by a black bay chrono a month later, and another dj41 2 months later. The dealer has a list and read it off to me when I picked up the last watch about the other watches I am interested in.
I went into an AD on Monday and was told I needed to buy 2 to 3 watches to get an “allocation”. I didn’t even go in there for a Rolex…I was looking at a grand Seiko.

Looking at Chrono, they have dropped in the last 3 months and still dropping over the last one month. On the other hand, they offer good value compared to where they have been previously... it's a buyers market so you could do worse than make some cheeky offers and see if any bite. Is £13,500 worth it to you for a £9k AD price watch?
To be honest I think the Speedmaster Pro is a far nicer chronograph for a man than the Daytona as it’s just too busy. I actually had the offer of a Daytona in the AD a long time back as well as a SkyDweller more recently (I have a good buying history of other Rolex from them) and the Daytona looks more like a lady’s watch and the SkyDweller although beautiful was just a bit too brick-like for me. I’m not the only one in my watch collectors circle that thinks that either. Obviously if they offered me a Daytona now I’d take it lol.
With the Rolex watches on the grey market - were they purchased in the UK or are they purchased abroad? If they are from dealers abroad will they have had UK duty and taxes paid on them? I ask as we all know that insurance companies will get out of paying anything if they can and if they were to find out that a watch that was imported did not have the due taxes paid they would worm out of paying. Another concern would be if the original purchases claimed the watch was stolen after selling it and you only find out ten years down the line after sending it to Rolex for a service. What provenance other than the box and tags does the seller provide? Would the original sales receipt form part of the provenance or would that be some breach of current data protection laws? I really want to get a Rolex but there are so many hurdles……
So if you buy from a reputable dealer numerous checks will be carried out that show the watch has not been stolen or had any insurance claims made against it - you need to make sure you get evidence of this from the dealer. Regarding the insurance, shouldn’t be affected from overseas watches at all. I hope this helps!
8:47 my problem with the air king is how it looks. It looks like if you fed an AI a hundred pictures of Rolex and told it to make a new design, it would make the air king. I know it has a vast and very impactful history but it doesn't work for me.
Yup, Rolex Submariner is a definite contender however the 50th anniversary Sea Dweller is a Sub killer either one depending wrist size is a must have if you frequently scratch you’re balls……🤣🤣⚽️⚽️💪💪.
Hate to burst your Rolex bubble, but they're hardly Haut Horology. They're firmly middle of the pack. And that come from someone who's owned Daytona's, Subs, and GMT's.
I think for me the yellow gold yacht master is a dream piece. But personally I don’t like any submariners that have a cross color combination like green and black. It looks off and weird to me. Other than the blusey that one is the only exception. Otherwise if your getting a submariner(I have the all black one) I feel like that’s the best in terms of every day wearability or even the ability to be formal.
Idk what it is about the daytona that makes you feel its the best. Subjectively the dial is illegable and the mess of screw down pushers and crown on one side is so unbalanced. I personally feel its quite a weak design and i hated it before it was hype. The fact that i cant get ones makes me want one though haha

I live here in Australia and I've never heard nor seen a new Rolex being available on the grey market lower than retail. This must be a joke. I go to the OS websites and prices are nearly double to what they are here due to the currency conversion. So this information is irrelevant. I have checked the prices on your website and I can see that the prices are at a minimum double to what the prices are here at retail.
Everyone knows how well made Rolex’s are but the submariner is the most copied watch out there and that’s why I wouldn’t have one, when I see anyone wearing a submariner I always think is it or isn’t it because from a distance you can’t tell and probably you wouldn’t tell even up close, sad but true
This channel is not the honest watch dealer, it is the Rolex commentary channel lol. How can you tell people to go to the grey market and not the AD? Almost every watch is thousands and thousands more expensive through the grey. You are not looking out for your viewer pockets, just yourself really.
Because they are more affordable, if you don’t want a flashy watch, you don’t buy a Rolex, that simple. Too heavy is a ridiculous reason and we were talking about a difference of ounces not pounds.
My opinion: everyone just needs to go gray market and leave the AD’s behind. My local AD is frankly terrible. I paid 2K extra for my sub and it was worth every single penny not dealing with them.
100% true! A Rolex Daytona is never ever better then the Omega Moonwatch! For decades, the Daytona lay like lead on the shelves and could only be sold with a lot of discount. Then, a few years ago, the hype around this watch began, just because a Hollywood star, who 99% of today's young people do not even know, wore this watch in a movie. How can such a watch have more history and prestige than a watch that was on the moon?! Here, the wearing of a watch by an actor in a film is portrayed as more significant than the greatest event of mankind, namely the moon landing. That is ridiculous! Of course, the Moonwatch is much better than the Daytona!
- Comfort in bracelets - Comfort in case sizes and shapes - Control over their product lineups, they don’t over saturate the market with variations of their own watches - better service intervals - resale value, which is almost unfair as it’s just a factor of Rolex being so much more desirable - design, as proven by the massive amount of other brands who copy the design of popular Rolex products. Sub, Daytona, GMT M2, and more. - quality control. Rolex makes and sells more watches than Omega each year and yet…. - Rolex has historically done a much better job steering trends. Recently you can look at the colorful OP range and then the aqua terra range to follow….

I agree. I traded a bluesie in for my AK, in Covid-times. Within a week of wearing the AK, I had random compliments on it, which I never had with the Sub.
No regrets here. Its kinda low-key too. Feel more comfortable wearing it in public than a bolder watch.
@@nickpellatt I think most people are put off by the weird marker aesthetic. The mixed minute and hour markers do make it challenging to tell the time at a glance I guess.
I also like that it's got a splash of that Rolex green in the font and the seconds hand.

I will one day grab a ghost, stunning piece, my friend has one and just had a black alligator leather strap put on his, looks even more stunning with the strap on. I can’t be arsed to deal with ADs, they wind me up, don’t use the term grey market anymore, I use the term pre owned market.

It can be both! But generally speaking about 2023 unworn 👍

If u opt for ROO 3126 enhancement, AP will reduce 59jewel to 54jewel, the watch gets lighter, the min hand jump everytime u adjust the time.

HWD answers a question about comparing which watch is a better value for the "money" at 10:33: the Omega Speedmaster or the Rolex Daytona. However, as a Rolex biased dealer, HWD never answered the question. I do not plan on doing a feature-to-feature comparison-- there are plenty of videos. The Omega offers great value because it is much lower in price, and does have history with the NASA space program, and holds it value over time. Rolex offers great value because if you are lucky enough to buy one at retail from an AD, the watch appreciates. Bottom line, you decide if the lower price or the price appreciation is more important to you.

it makes sense for a secondary market dealer to convince everyone the list doesn't exist, because that will just dissuade people from being patient and to head on over to their stores to make their purchases at heavy margins. the list does exist and it is attached to your customer profile with the authorized dealer. if you're not getting a watch within a few months, the dealer likely suspects you're at risk of not keeping the watch and flipping it. I went to an AD with no spend history in December expressing interest in a particular dj41. The AD took my information down and said he would be in touch and let me know when the allocation would open up to order it. I was contact 10 days later to come in and place a deposit for the order, and I received the exact model I wanted in 3 weeks. this was followed by a black bay chrono a month later, and another dj41 2 months later. The dealer has a list and read it off to me when I picked up the last watch about the other watches I am interested in.
I went into an AD on Monday and was told I needed to buy 2 to 3 watches to get an “allocation”. I didn’t even go in there for a Rolex…I was looking at a grand Seiko.
I went to an AD tried on a watch, told them I wanted it, they called next day and sold me the exact expedition model….

Looking at Chrono, they have dropped in the last 3 months and still dropping over the last one month. On the other hand, they offer good value compared to where they have been previously... it's a buyers market so you could do worse than make some cheeky offers and see if any bite. Is £13,500 worth it to you for a £9k AD price watch?
Impossible to say, however prices are way down so in a buyers market now 👍
To be honest I think the Speedmaster Pro is a far nicer chronograph for a man than the Daytona as it’s just too busy. I actually had the offer of a Daytona in the AD a long time back as well as a SkyDweller more recently (I have a good buying history of other Rolex from them) and the Daytona looks more like a lady’s watch and the SkyDweller although beautiful was just a bit too brick-like for me. I’m not the only one in my watch collectors circle that thinks that either. Obviously if they offered me a Daytona now I’d take it lol.

With the Rolex watches on the grey market - were they purchased in the UK or are they purchased abroad? If they are from dealers abroad will they have had UK duty and taxes paid on them?
I ask as we all know that insurance companies will get out of paying anything if they can and if they were to find out that a watch that was imported did not have the due taxes paid they would worm out of paying.
Another concern would be if the original purchases claimed the watch was stolen after selling it and you only find out ten years down the line after sending it to Rolex for a service. What provenance other than the box and tags does the seller provide? Would the original sales receipt form part of the provenance or would that be some breach of current data protection laws?
I really want to get a Rolex but there are so many hurdles……
So if you buy from a reputable dealer numerous checks will be carried out that show the watch has not been stolen or had any insurance claims made against it - you need to make sure you get evidence of this from the dealer.
Regarding the insurance, shouldn’t be affected from overseas watches at all. I hope this helps!

8:47 my problem with the air king is how it looks. It looks like if you fed an AI a hundred pictures of Rolex and told it to make a new design, it would make the air king. I know it has a vast and very impactful history but it doesn't work for me.

Hate to burst your Rolex bubble, but they're hardly Haut Horology. They're firmly middle of the pack. And that come from someone who's owned Daytona's, Subs, and GMT's.
I think for me the yellow gold yacht master is a dream piece. But personally I don’t like any submariners that have a cross color combination like green and black. It looks off and weird to me. Other than the blusey that one is the only exception. Otherwise if your getting a submariner(I have the all black one) I feel like that’s the best in terms of every day wearability or even the ability to be formal.

Idk what it is about the daytona that makes you feel its the best. Subjectively the dial is illegable and the mess of screw down pushers and crown on one side is so unbalanced. I personally feel its quite a weak design and i hated it before it was hype. The fact that i cant get ones makes me want one though haha

I live here in Australia and I've never heard nor seen a new Rolex being available on the grey market lower than retail. This must be a joke. I go to the OS websites and prices are nearly double to what they are here due to the currency conversion. So this information is irrelevant. I have checked the prices on your website and I can see that the prices are at a minimum double to what the prices are here at retail.
The blusey all gold you can buy under retail. Don’t let any grey market dealer tell you different.

My opinion: everyone just needs to go gray market and leave the AD’s behind. My local AD is frankly terrible. I paid 2K extra for my sub and it was worth every single penny not dealing with them.

For decades, the Daytona lay like lead on the shelves and could only be sold with a lot of discount. Then, a few years ago, the hype around this watch began, just because a Hollywood star, who 99% of today's young people do not even know, wore this watch in a movie. How can such a watch have more history and prestige than a watch that was on the moon?! Here, the wearing of a watch by an actor in a film is portrayed as more significant than the greatest event of mankind, namely the moon landing. That is ridiculous! Of course, the Moonwatch is much better than the Daytona!

To me, the Omega sea master bezel action and interaction is far short of anything in the Rolex dive line up.
- Comfort in bracelets
- Comfort in case sizes and shapes
- Control over their product lineups, they don’t over saturate the market with variations of their own watches
- better service intervals
- resale value, which is almost unfair as it’s just a factor of Rolex being so much more desirable
- design, as proven by the massive amount of other brands who copy the design of popular Rolex products. Sub, Daytona, GMT M2, and more.
- quality control. Rolex makes and sells more watches than Omega each year and yet….
- Rolex has historically done a much better job steering trends. Recently you can look at the colorful OP range and then the aqua terra range to follow….
