Hi im a barber and I recomend not ever putting dish soap in your hair it is way to harsh on your skin.. All you simply need to do is go to a beauty supply store and get a clarifying shampoo. use a conditioner afterwards and you should be good.
hey did this guy is suppose to be a barber as well. yet he but amounts of grease which causes clogging and hair loss and dishsoap that dries your hair. life is full of barbers. lol
I am really loving your videos - I want to cut my son's hair into a pomp, so I'm trying to learn how to cut, shape and care for the hair. :) Your videos have been VERY helpful to me. I am really grateful for your videos. Thank you! :) x
I mix dishwashing liquid and shampoo, put it in my hair. Add a little warm water (depends on how hot your head can tolerate) to create suds and rinse it with warm water again.
i have thick hair and i use dax and on occasions i use murrays and all i do is just constantly use shampoo and conditioner for greasy hair and i do that about twice a day for 2-3 days and it works it's way out and it is still easy to style because it only takes a little out at a time so you have the opportunity to top it up or start a fresh after a couple of days just how i have found it to work
Day 6 of shampooing 3 times a day with ultra degreaseing dish soap. Still can't get murrays out of my hair. I've come to accept the fact that I'll have to wear an undercut fire the rest of my life.
Yoyosten99 I use murrays superior pomade. But the trick is .. mix it with ultra light. It gets allot easier to put in your hair and allot earier to get it out. What i do is just wash it with regular shampoo and a really hot shower. Take a fine tooth comb and just comb it. Some white residu will be caught by the comb. Just do this 3 or 4 times during your shower and youll be fine. The only problem i have is that your hair..always be a bit greasy but atleast there is no real pomade in there. 2/3 days of regular shower and put in something nonmurray will work fine. peace
+Miss Alee why do you guys just not use water based pomade? do you realise the damage your doing to your hair using those dish soap and all that, gonna be bald like in 3 years
Best way to wash ALL and I mean ALL pomades is use Aussie Moist conditioner. Apply a generous amount on your dry pomaded hair (no water needed) get it over all your hairs, comb your hair a few times. Wait 10-15 minutes and just rinse it all out. Works for all heavy pomades DAX W&G or Murrrays superior for example. You might need a second go if you use a pomade with a lot of wax (microcristaline or beeswax) like High life heavy or Upperut monsterhold
The Manny 500 - BF4 The most I gone without fully degreasing was 1 week because I worked 7 shifts in a row but I showered each day and it felt great. I have periods when I buy a bunch of pomades , waxes or other hair products and where each for like 2 days degrease and then try another (some work others don't) so too often degreasing. It depends on your hair type, how oily your scalp is and what kind of pomade you use, how much you use and what do you do during the day and of course the time of the year. If u have a bit medium pomade on today and you just hang around the house or did some errands then you really don't need to wash your hair. But if it the second day or you went to the gym, work in a warm humid enviroment or have a busy running around job like mine by all means wash your hair. Listen to your scalp. if it feels oily or heavy just shower. if it feels fine but might be worried it smells just wash with conditioner(no shampoo) it works but use shampoo 1-2 per week. Also heavy pomades or heavy waxes can make your hair feel stiff and painful to style after you slept. by all means shower or at least wet your hair. I didn't like buildup when i first used pomade but now I enjoy it as I feel my hair is easier to style and easier to add extra pomade if i need it(using heavy pomade/waxes on clean hair is painful sometimes) and I'm not afraid that daily showers will leave my hair dry and brittle. Also remember seasons can change the rule. Summer makes your scalp oilier , medium pomades in soft pomade, while winter can make heavy pomades into concrete.
groom & clean rocks. I use it as a light base before adding my regular pomade. Love the shine. Dawn works best for me.I usually shower it out at night so I give my hair a rest. I avoid "Oxy" products cause they have peroxide (bleaching agent). I keep a bottle of dawn in the shower and will rinse/repeat a couple times & using the combing-it-out methid works great. I like using Prell shampoo - it helps alot. Thanks!
I get you have thick hair, but so do I, and mine is a whole lot longer. I use VooDoo Brew 2 every day and I can't sleep with pomade in my hair. I shampoo my hair twice with Garnier Fructis pure and clean. I comb conditioner through my hair, wash it out, and I'm done.
I have thick hair and I use murray's on my hair! to get rid of the pomade since i use alot, i use a hair blow dryer and set it on warm while I dry my hair. after a few seconds i hair gets soft. it helps me
Dude, thanks for the advice. I've been using Murray's and it's been really building up in my hair. I make sure I rinse and scrub my scalp every time I shower, but with this, I can actually get the stuff out by the end of the week.
Do you know how to train your hair to slick back? my boyfriend has try to do this hair style many times and has never been able to keep it back the hole day. With in minutes his hair well go down and the only way i was able to keep it back was when i curled it back! but he doesn't want to curl it all the time his going top restyle or wait until he sees me to do it for him. He also has hair like you but extremely straight. Have any tips? by the way your hair looks great without any product!:)
I never let myself build up for more than a week, but I find that if I use a good cleansing shampoo once, let my hair dry in then do it again (And Condition so my hair isn't completely wrecked) I get it all out quite easily.
in my experience, you dont need the degrease shampoo, water soluble pomade, and definitely not the harsh dish soap. Only the Groom & Clean. Do as he does at the beginning, but put a more generous amount of GC in the hair, only the GC, and really spread it through with your hands and comb. Style to desire, and your previous build up will provide all the hold you need. Go about your day and before you go to sleep, wash your hair as you normally would with normal shampoo and youre golden!. Works everytime for me even with a weeks build up in my hair. Give it a shot before you use all your moms dish soap. saves more money
Hey man great vids very usefull when you build up, do you not shampoo , i know you add pomade every day but can you explain the whole build up thing for me
All you need to do is add Groom & Clean in your hair leave it in for a few hours then was it off, I use head&shoulders and its out. I use Dax btw Suavectio and Layright are water soluble so its Super easy to wash off. Good tips I guess #GoldenStateOfMind
I'm approaching 70 yo and my hair is thin and grey. I think I'd stay ugly if I had do that much work every week just to look good. However, if I had your hair, I would just use some sea-salt spray and go for the Surfer look. Much easier for me.
well i am still waiting to go to the barbers, i have short hair as i have just started with the "greaser" look and i go with the side parting at the moment so i am still in that horrible phase where it needs to grow but i can style it enough but once i get longer hair i am gonna get my fiance's mother to cut my hair how it should be cut as she is a qualified barber and hair dresser i reckon once my hair is longer and cut to the way it should be it will become harder to wash out and that like
A friend recommended Wen hair care products to me. It's not the manliest stuff ever, but if it works, who cares. Anyways, according to him, it makes Lockhart's Goon Grease wash right out. I haven't tried it yet, because it's not cheap, but I'd like to see if it works.
Just spray a dash of ballistol (yep! it's plant-based gun-grease!) into your hair and than comb out the pomade (give it some time before combing). If needed - repeat. After that wash your hair as usual, with regular hair shampoo. It works verwy well and additionally, ballistol smells good as well. Idiot-proof.
Does Groom & Clean have to be used or can I just use dish soap and a fine tooth metal or plastic comb? And where can I get a strong comb? Mine broke from my thick ass hair lol.
I use a water soluble pomade how often should I wash my hair every day or do I just leave it in and wash every other or few days, I am a pretty active person as well
I just bought a bottle of the Royal Flush shampoo and I noticed that on the back it says PROP 65 WARNING: THIS PRODUCT CONTAINS CHEMICALS KNOWN TO THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA TO CAUSE CANCER. Just wondering if its a different blend than the one you use or not. Must admit makes me a bit hesitant to use it lol.
Best way to degrease for me is Tres Flores brilliantine oil , I soak my hair with that and use a fine tooth comb , wait 5 mins and shower with hot water and shampoo and conditioner and all product will be out
How Often should I be washing my hair? I often use Dax wave and groom and slick my hair back I used to wash my hair everyday but I've heard this is bad?
where can i go to get a nice haircut like that? i go to the typical haircut places with chics not barbers and im very hessitent on trying a new barber, how would you ask for a haircut like that in a barbershop?
Heys dudes, im kinda new to pomade. I was wondering, do u guys wash ur hair when u dont want to degrease or is it okay and some of the pomade will stay in even if washed??
what is your opinion on murrays superior pomade, ive heard it can potentially be bad for your hair, thing is though it gives me good hold so i dont want to stop using it
Ahhh.... why have a week supply of multiple pomade build up in your hair if the stuff doesn't come off after one shower? Wouldn't it be just better to just apply Murray's Beeswax or whatever other brand just one or two times a week and shower daily?
Or soluble I should say... and when im done with the pomade when I take a shower it looks like its completely out since my hair goes back to the way it usually is. Should I still degrease?
I know people are all strange about there oil pomades this is exactly why i stick with water pomades. You can't tell me it's good for your hair to have to use dish detergent on your hair way to much work here.
right, so if I'm asking a question about hair it now makes me gay. See you're a special breed of idiot. With that logic girls are lesbians if they ask about hair as well.
You must know nothing of spitfire and skateboarding history if you are going to go out on a front and say that only posers skate them. Also, when did your haircut determine your sexual orientation? You're so hate-filled. Nobody likes that in the real world.
So you contradict yourself once again. You claimed that I was gay based on hair lmao. You're illogical. Just give it a rest you don't even know me lmfao pseudo macho men nowadays with your preconceived notions.
*Seems like a pain in the ass for newbies. I've only used wb pomades so far, but I wanna try some oil based. I just don't wanna go thru a small mission of rinsin' out grease. Let's see what happens.*

Greatest hair video on TH-cam and by far the greatest voice on TH-cam.
I am really loving your videos - I want to cut my son's hair into a pomp, so I'm trying to learn how to cut, shape and care for the hair. :) Your videos have been VERY helpful to me. I am really grateful for your videos. Thank you! :) x
How did it go
I mix dishwashing liquid and shampoo, put it in my hair. Add a little warm water (depends on how hot your head can tolerate) to create suds and rinse it with warm water again.

I tried dawn and a desgreaser shampoo on my sons hair with the fine tooth comb and that damn Murrays came out after hours of trying lol don't give up
Yoyosten99 Olive oil.
Wash with hot water

Azrael88demon thank you for the info. very helpful indeed. how many days between washing your hair, do you use pomade?

love the vids man!! super cool for you to take the time to do this...many thanks
Considering you do this once a week, what is your shower hair routine for the rest of the 6 days?
groom & clean rocks. I use it as a light base before adding my regular pomade. Love the shine. Dawn works best for me.I usually shower it out at night so I give my hair a rest. Vinegar works after shampooing....I have lots of hair..
Joshua, that's because Layrite Super Hold is water soluble....

Hey man great vids very usefull when you build up, do you not shampoo , i know you add pomade every day but can you explain the whole build up thing for me
I'm pretty new to the whole greasing thing. How often do you degrease?
or you can get heavy duty dish washing soap and wash it out then put your normal shampoo and conditioner

so instead of olive oil and dish soap, could i use vegetable oil?
Thanx man... your vids are really helpful!
well i am still waiting to go to the barbers, i have short hair as i have just started with the "greaser" look and i go with the side parting at the moment so i am still in that horrible phase where it needs to grow but i can style it enough but once i get longer hair i am gonna get my fiance's mother to cut my hair how it should be cut as she is a qualified barber and hair dresser
i reckon once my hair is longer and cut to the way it should be it will become harder to wash out and that like
hey man quick question.... if you leave petro pomade in your hair will it thin your hair or cause hair loss

I use a water soluble pomade how often should I wash my hair every day or do I just leave it in and wash every other or few days, I am a pretty active person as well
Do you think an all natural dish soap would work? I just bought some murrays to play around with.
Did the All Natural dish soap work?
You should do a review on suavecito pomade
Hey, there is no groom and clean where i am. Is there anything i can replace with?
I just bought a bottle of the Royal Flush shampoo and I noticed that on the back it says PROP 65 WARNING: THIS PRODUCT CONTAINS CHEMICALS KNOWN TO THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA TO CAUSE CANCER. Hey, adam, does this degreasing technique work with wax pomades like highlife or grim grease?
what pomade do you think is the best ?
How Often should I be washing my hair? I often use Dax wave and groom and slick my hair back I used to wash my hair everyday but I've heard this is bad?
where can i go to get a nice haircut like that? i go to the typical haircut places with chics not barbers and im very hessitent on trying a new barber, how would you ask for a haircut like that in a barbershop?
hey man, do you have your hair styled with your pomade for a week without washing? or whenever you feel you need to get it out
Heys dudes, im kinda new to pomade. I was wondering, do u guys wash ur hair when u dont want to degrease or is it okay and some of the pomade will stay in even if washed??
How many days a week should you degrease your hair?
Aye man, do you just shower regularly throughout the week?
are you guys doing this everyday??
what is your opinion on murrays superior pomade, ive heard it can potentially be bad for your hair, thing is though it gives me good hold so i dont want to stop using it
So like, you still shower everyday but the pomade doesnt come out?
Hey when you build up do you not shampoo your hair when you shower
where can you get royal flush?
Suavecito is water based?
can you use brylcream instead of groom&clean ??
when you comb your hair in the shower, your hairs dont get pulled out?
+Kerry Colwell use a water spray bottle just a little where you want to recomb, it'll do the trick
isnt it weird to sleep with all that stuff in your hair or is it something you get used to?
Ahhh.... why have a week supply of multiple pomade build up in your hair if the stuff doesn't come off after one shower? Wouldn't it be just better to just apply Murray's Beeswax or whatever other brand just one or two times a week and shower daily?
What do you do in between degreasings
You go to the barber every week?
Do u get ur side part razored in?
Do you pull out some hairs with this method. I only do the groom and clean with a comb but I get a few pull outs!
Idk bout him ..i aswell have thick hair and i get a few pullouts
Thanks this help a hole lot man
how often do you degrease your hair
Or soluble I should say... and when im done with the pomade when I take a shower it looks like its completely out since my hair goes back to the way it usually is. Should I still degrease?
lol the only reason to degrease is if u have grease n ur hair lmfao
How do you tell if nothing is in your hair
I am most definitely going to use this method when I use my voodoo brew and murrays beeswax! Those pomades take aaaaages to get out of my hair lol.
Justin Suarez

Anybody else go to the barber every week?
Great vid bro
Hey dude u know u can degrease ur hair with baby oil it just lifts the pomade out and it works great
Why would anyone go through all this trouble? I easily take Murray's out of my hair with just conditioner. It works every time.
Is beeswax pomade good for hair ?
I mean it's not bad for it but what are the ingredients in that specific pomade?
I know people are all strange about there oil pomades this is exactly why i stick with water pomades. You can't tell me it's good for your hair to have to use dish detergent on your hair way to much work here.
is that seriously how much length you like your pomp to be? I mean that's cool and all but I've never seen a pomp with that little of volume.
When you have really thick hair, the length isn't that important because the thickness gives you a lot of volume. I have thick hair like him.
right, so if I'm asking a question about hair it now makes me gay.
Jonathan Bertocchi Why are you so damn aggressive. You don't come across as aggressive. You come across as insecure about you own sexuality.
Great video! I degrease similarly.
Nizoral . specially great if u have dandruff .
Use baby oil and put on ur hair and run it through ur fingers it should come right off
thanks man
*Seems like a pain in the ass for newbies. I've only used wb pomades so far, but I wanna try some oil based. I just don't wanna go thru a small mission of rinsin' out grease. Let's see what happens.*
Why wouldn't you wash your hair each day? Forgive my ignorance...
No, he does shower every day. But petroleum based pomades build up, it's like putting vaseline in your hair, so you can't just wash it out
highlife has been back; it's just not for sale
Amen brother.
R u in college?
scar symmetry in the background :)
That Trivium in the background \M/
I used johnny b pomade and fuck that shit I used ny moms oil based condishier and I got out like that. Im sticking to axe pomade
axe is shit
Mike Kunz works like a charm but lets agree old spice sucks balls
Lolol Johnny b is water based???😂😂😂
Johhny B Is Water Soluble I Know Because I Use Johnny B
Hay, this is just not for you insaneone but to everyone. Highlife pomade is coming back so get get you some.
Why can't you just shampoo it out
most is made with petroleum which is a highly greasy substance and grease is extremely hard to remove from anything you can just shampoo out water based pomade which is becoming more popular because it is easy to remove
I want to see more, if you catch my drift... Lol
