There were so many parts of this video where I was like "DUDE STOP TOUCHING IT IT LOOKS FINE" "YOU'RE GONNA MESS IT UP" "JUST LEAVE IT!!" loll I know the feeling though.
I use the big toothed side to get slick my hair back in the very beginning and the small toothed side to make everything tighter and more defined. And for sure thanks for the tip!
When I first went there I got a natural fade on the sides. He said it was about a 2 on the ides with a fade...on the top he sometimes just takes off like a few snips. Maybe half an inch or an inch. I usually just let him do his thing since he used to have his hair like mine as well. But yeah about a 2-fade on the sides and a little off the top. The back of the top of my head is shorter than the front of the top of my head I know that, by a good 2 inches or so.
All I've used is Suavecito because I like that it is water based and washes out like gel. I wont use anything that is petroleum based because I dont want it to stay in my hair for a long time. It'll start to recede your hairline!
Dude, I like the tutorial. Thank you...trying it myself as well. A small tip though: you should tell what you are doing, putting water on your hands, or pomade stuff like this... thank you for the video
You might not have as much "control" as some said earlier but it will definitely work still. Make sure you do it when you have damp hair and comb your hair back all the way first. Use a strong holding pomade too! Suavecito firme hold would work well
I think people find it easier to use a pomade because it is easy to work with and stays all day. You dont need hair spray or anything else..but I saw your video!
It just goes in my hair easier and I can brush it through easier. When it is dry it rips and pulls at my hair rather than combining and forming with my hair. 2. Comb everything to the side first. All the way over until it is nice and slicked down on the top, then work on pomping up the front of your hair. Maybe that will help?
@theqsanity he's using Suavecito. It's the best pomade to me. Some people use Layrite and Suavecito because they hold the best. Don't use Axe. It's cheap but it's not real. Suavecito is perfect especially if you have curly hair. I have curly hair and the first time I started the style, I used Murray's. don't use that, I learned the hard way and I'm only 14. It's on Amazon along with the other pomade. It's not cheap but it's well worth the money.
Top like my bangs is like 8 inches and it layers to the back of my head to like 4-5 inches. The sides are like a 1 faded to a 3 or something if I were to guess
I think you might prefer a military brush to a comb. When you use a comb, you can practically count the teeth of the comb in the separations in your hair. The high roller GQ guys use a Kent or Acca Kappa, but you can probably find one for much cheaper. Ever try Brylcreem?
The original hold is less thick than the firme hold. If you have easy hair to work with you can use the regular hold but thick hair I'd go with the firme
All I do when I go to the barber is have him do a fade on the sides, and on the top he just portions it out. He doesnt remove hair up there or chop a whole bunch off he just "layers" it I guess you could say.
I know your feeling of frustration. I've been styling my hair in a pompadour for quite some time and there was this time when I didn't get what I wanted. You will reach that place when you are always satisfied with your hair. I reached that place after many versions of my hair: long/short top, long/short sides. I've tried many pomades. Styling wet/dry. Combes vs. brushes. Parted vs. not parted. Blowdryer. Know your hair! Just keep on practicing! I mean, each day, right? Your pomp will come.
You will get better results with Murrays but the only thing I dont like about Murrays is that it isnt water based. I know in the UK its pretty gloomy all the time maybe? I dont know. But maybe the oil based pomades would better fit that environment. Murrays you'll need to use oil removers to get the product out of your hair. Peanut butter works haha and other things too. But to answer your question yes my hair stays this way all day.
Thanks for the feedback man. I appreciate it. One more thing though. I notice you use suavecito, and I just Wna know how it compared to other brands, e.g. Murray's, lucky 13, schmiere... Etc.
Ask him if he knows how to cut a pompadour hair cut. If he does, ask him if its a tight fade on the sides and long on the top. If it is, get that and let him style it. Otherwise just get a fade all the way around leaving the top long. It has to blend on the sides so it doesnt look weird being different lengths.
Uhhh pomade will eventually loose its hold, and sports would probably just speed it up. When I play sports I just wear something on my head with no type of product in it! But to answer your question, I wouldnt expect any type of product to hold through a lot of sports play o.o
You're right, it doesnt HAVE to be long it just is easier to work with your hair and you can handle it better while it is long thats all :) Sounds like a killer place man.
haha you totally remind me of myself when doing my pomadour... i couldnt do it for longest time either. anyway... thanks for your help man... im gonna subscribe!
There were so many parts of this video where I was like "DUDE STOP TOUCHING IT IT LOOKS FINE" "YOU'RE GONNA MESS IT UP" "JUST LEAVE IT!!" loll I know the feeling though.
....this guy doesnt even need hair product!!!!! Its already perfect!!!!
I use the big toothed side to get slick my hair back in the very beginning and the small toothed side to make everything tighter and more defined. And for sure thanks for the tip!
This dude has the nicest hair I've ever seen
Thanks Dave Franco
I'm so glad my mom didn't walk in when he was rubbing the pomade on his hands it would be so hard to explain that
Darwin Varona yeah
I love how awkward he used to be, it's amazing.
it looks so perfect and good on you
this hairstyle looks ridiculously good on you.
Yeah it doesnt get messed up by the wind, its a good product
You can rock anything if you like it yourself.
Whatever one you prefer :)
Oh man I have nooooo idea!!
I'm in a 1950's based musical, called Zombie Prom, and this really helped! Thanks so much!!
My stylist is my pillow.
Your hair is so thick and beautiful!... Blessed.
its all about your type of hair, thick or thin, and volume.
Personally I do need hairspray since I have a lot of thick hair.
Youve convinced me to spend more time in the looking glass. Gonna try this out
Yeah make sure you get your hair damp though with water. It makes it go in easier and makes it easier to comb as well.
Very nice...I also liked it slicked straight back without the part.
All I've used is Suavecito because I like that it is water based and washes out like gel. I wont use anything that is petroleum based because I dont want it to stay in my hair for a long time. It'll start to recede your hairline!
You're absolutely adorable. This was fun to watch.
what a waste of tap water!
Extremely stylish!
Thank you and I'm glad!
I can't believe you only get compliments on the internet, this style looks so good on you ;)

Your hair is amazing !!!
You might not have as much "control" as some said earlier but it will definitely work still. Make sure you do it when you have damp hair and comb your hair back all the way first. Use a strong holding pomade too! Suavecito firme hold would work well
the hairstyle suits you alot ! love this style
I wash it out every time I use it. Nothing wrong with it haha. I use a water based pomade so it comes out like gel does.
Well thank you :O
Oh I like it too!!! In fact you made me think about letting mine grow...I was saying because it seems like too much work in the mornings ;-)
Hah curly hair works as well!
Thanks helped out ALOT for my sons dedication
Thank you!
I think people find it easier to use a pomade because it is easy to work with and stays all day. You dont need hair spray or anything else..but I saw your video!
what a waste of water!!
That's what I was gonna say!
He's not wasting water
Yeah well when I first grew it out it was all the same but when it was cut the front is 3-5 inches longer than the back of the top of my head
the trick with doing it on camera is don't say much, just concentrate and pretende the camera isn't there, always works for me.
For my hair I use the medium!
You just look like the singer of Royal Republic! Awesome video and hair, by the way!
Suave 2 in 1 conditioner and shampoo!
Thanks man
It just goes in my hair easier and I can brush it through easier. When it is dry it rips and pulls at my hair rather than combining and forming with my hair. 2. Comb everything to the side first. Awesome.
Yeah it lightly runs against it but nothing to where it hurts or ripping out hair.
Class beats swag again
and always will
Hi from California, Dope
In the end the pomp never goes the way you want it, I know that feel bro.
But I like the length of my hair! Its weird while it is shorter.
I have wavy/semi curly hair and this is the hairstyle I do except I don't part it
All I do when I go to the barber is have him do a fade on the sides, and on the top he just portions it out. He doesnt remove hair up there or chop a whole bunch off he just "layers" it I guess you could say.
Dude I would kill for hair as thin as yours!
Up in Northern California
I really like your style! Such a shame you don't see it much around here..
ASMR anyone?
I used to do it, but I didnt like the look of it really haha
I really love this video!

Dude people always give me shit for my hair and its like yours and here you are and like ten chicks said your hair was cool!
Haha I get a lot of shit too, only get compliments on the internet :P

I use Kevin Murphy super goo but I have know idea how good it is
I go to a berber but I mean a stylist could probably do it too. I get a gentlemans cut or a pompadour cut haa
Does anyone else find him goofy and adorable? Just me?
Uhhh pomade will eventually loose its hold, and sports would probably just speed it up. When I play sports I just wear something on my head with no type of product in it! But to answer your question, I wouldnt expect any type of product to hold through a lot of sports play o.o
You're welcome!
