- In this video I begin to tidy up my garden for the winter. I start by tidying up my greenhouse which means removing some of my tomato and aubergine plants as well as moving my chilli peppers into the greenhouse from my homemade cold frame.
I then prune my plum and cherry trees as well as harvesting some fennel seeds and supporting my morning glory plants. I move on to rearranging where my environmesh cloches are going so they support the larger brassica plants such as purple sprouting broccoli and sprouts. I remove my Heinz tomato plants and Shirley tomato plants which have been growing well in the outside no-dig garden beds because they now have blight.
I then remove my sweetcorn plants, dwarf borlottoi beans, peas, blackberry stems and tayberry stems. I manage to wood chip some of the branches I have collected which enabled me to wood chip one of my garden paths. This work was in preparation for planting my overwintering crops.
The videos I mention in this video are:
• Use up those courgette...
The music used in this video was from TH-cam audio library:
Red Whine by Everet Almond
You got lots done 👍
Thanks Helen 😊
Hi Bethan you might want to check if its ok for chickens to eat morning glory seeds because they are halluanagenic😮. On the packet of seeds it will probably say do not eat. Good job, everything looks great.👍👌😁
Oh thanks Nick, I picked those plants up from a garden sale so I don't have the packet but I will grow them in the front garden next year and will try sweetpeas again in the back garden where the morning glory plants were. Thanks for that 👍🏻😊
Crikey Bethan send your energy my way!! You kicked butt! ❤❤
Thanks very much Pammie, once I get started I keep going, it's getting started that's the problem 😂
Ooh I missed this one 😮. You are definitely on it with the clear up!!! Xx
The trouble is Allie there's so much that needs clearing up 😂
Ohhh jazzy new format and music...like it!
Thanks Robin, I have discovered TH-cam audio 😂 I'm always so slow in picking these sort of things up 😊
Another fab video Bethan ❤
A busy day in the garden again. Always feels great having a tidy up. Good tips for rhubarb, I usually take all the old leaves off but makes sense to leave them as a mulch. You sound like me jobs to be done but left for weeks. 😂 I bought a wood chipper a few months ago but still not used it! 🤭
Lovely peppers. 😍 Happy gardening ❤ xxx
😂 I have so many jobs that need doing Linda and not just in the garden!! Why did you buy a woodchipper when you get wood chip deliveries? Thanks for watching and for the tea and good times today 😊
Lovely peppers 🌶️ Bethan. Great job on pruning the trees let’s hope it all does great for the fruit next season. I agree with Nick morning glory flowers are ok but the seeds contain bad chemicals related the LSD so don’t let the chickens eat the seed. 😂😂 no I’m just gonna dump it all over here. I spend a lot of time playing garden Tetris where things move from one place to another. This tomatoes next to the sprouts look fab (left side). Well not those ones 19:48 🍅🍅 🤦♀️. Excellent update Bethan, have a super day, Ali ☔️☔️🇨🇦
Thanks Ali, I think I will put the morning glory in the front garden next year so the chickens can't eat them, I think I'll put most of my beans in the front too. Yes the tomatoes that were cordons were Shirley and they weren't too bad but the Heinz were terrible, never mind always next year. Have a great weekend. It's raining here 🌧️🌧️🌧️
@@bethanskitchengarden it’s torrential here today and tomorrow but maybe Monday will clear up 🤦♀️
10:00 I sometimes use the leaves of fennel in making borsch, in place of dill. There's a market stall where I am that sells fennel bulbs with lots of top growth still on. They also do red cabbage and beetroot.
That sounds lovely, I've used them in salad before. I do love dill. I don't think I will grow fennel again as it never bulbs up for me. Take care 😊
