First Potato harvest and bumper crop of garlic

- In this video I dig up my garlic which I planted in my no-dig bed last October and discover if it has suffered from allium leaf minor. I then replant the bed with lettuce, marigolds and direct sow some beetroot and carrot seed. I also had some garlic cloves growing in 30lt pots which I harvested in the back garden.
I then moved into the front garden where my first-early potatoes were planted and I harvested some of those to see how they grew.
Finally I harvest some of my onions sets, variety snowball, which I was growing in pots and which sadly had gone to flower. I also show my weekly harvest.

Thanks very much Nanou, yes it is all able to be used which is the main thing. I think I will make onion and potato soup and freeze it for later use 😊

@@bethanskitchengarden Yeah, we ended up moving and I have had massive garden fails the last few years. New climate, different pests that I have been learning to deal with, and this year I am doing a very very late container garden on my patio 🤣 Our season is mid may to mid September, but I seeded everything in June, instead of starting early in the greenhouse.... I may or may not get anything, but I still enjoy watching it all grow. I may do some next season, but my grand son and daughter with her fiancé moved in and life has become very chaotic ( in a good way)

Most of my cloves are small 🤦♀️ even after our super cold winter they didn’t split (may have pulled up too early). I love potato harvests always a surprise 😯 and they looked lovely and clean. Hope the squash bales go well again this year 👍👍, Ali 🌞🥵🇨🇦
@@myrustygarden When did you pull up your garlic Ali? Do you want me to send you a couple of bulbs? I haven’t tried the potatoes yet, only just finished the cauliflower 😂 The squashes are slowly getting underway 😊

@@bethanskitchengarden hello yes i managed to plant it out today but i still have more so i’m going to have to be very creative with space management as the allotment is kind of full 😖😣 me so is the home garden. waiting for the onions to finish so that i can plant out the remaining celtuce as well as the chines kale

Is the difference in garlic size due to spacing?
I don't think so as I spaced them all the same distance, maybe the smaller ones had more competition from the mascara that grows in those beds, I'm trying to pull them out but they could multiplying 😂
Why do you have a manhole cover in you garden? I have never seen that. Nice tatties, but what causes those splits?
@@Bob-bo8ik The cover is for our gas canister, as we live in a rural village our main power supply is gas and it’s put underground so not to be an eyesore. I think the splits are from the rain we had, a little like tomatoes, if they take up too much water they split, it’s not usually a problem where we are. Thanks for watching 😊
