Just wanted to pass on my appreciation for your online content. Really enjoy watching all of your videos. You talk very knowledgeably and your manner is very personable. As for this shoes. Hopefully your local running shop get some additional sales based on your association with them. I have a pair of the meta speed sky plus in my collection which I really like. The newer versions seems a big step up. Love the colour way. Good luck in the pursuit of the sub 2.30. You are some runner!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - I love runners! You guys are awesome. Thanks so much for this comment - it’s hugely appreciated and really made my day! And thanks for your feedback on the shoes. I’m really looking forward to getting some serious sessions done in them!
I prefer the sky to the edge. for reference my stride was about 1.4 meters and 186 steps per minute for my last race. that compared to my 1.1 meter and 170 steps per minute while doing zone 2 training.
That is a very interesting comparison! Off course the prove of the pudding is the eating. But it will be very interesting when you determine if either the characteristics of the stride runner or the cadence runner as defined by Asics (its on their website illustrated with a video) applies to you. And then check if the outcome fits the shoe of your preference! Looking forward to your review and all the best with your training for the 2.30 💪🏻👊!
Thank you! The one thing I know is that they are very different rides. I love what ASICS is doing but it makes it very confusing to know which shoe is best for you. All the more reason to go to your local running store I guess! :)
I’m not sure ASICS have it right. They are very different shoes but im not sure stride/cadence are the relevant factors. If you can try both, I’d recommend it. No problems with the heel strike though. I’m a heel striker and the sky work great for me.
So they embargo colourways now too? Well, at least people will be happy that they're available again! I got the Edge Paris a few weeks ago, because everyone said it was more aggressive than the Sky. Absolutely love it!
Apparently so! I think for the Olympics maybe? I really liked the Edge. It felt a lot like the Vaporfly to me which is a shoe I love. Real question though - Vaporfly or Edge in a marathon? That’s definitely still up for grabs!
Forget the theory on these shoes. I increase my stride more but the Edge Paris work better for me. Your gait will dictate which shoe works for you not your stride/cadence.
@@Fozzee.1970 I'm still a bit confused when it comes to the stride vs cadence theory, but I'm a fore/midfoot striker, who runs low to the ground. I feel that my stride and cadence go up fairly even, so that would put me in the cadence category, I guess. Either way, it feels like the Edge Paris is made for my gait. It's like being catapulted forward with a hefty tailwind. My best super shoe was the Endorphin Pro 3, so I was blown away by the Edge.
@@theghostofpcs2391 my cadence and stride go up fairly even too (although slightly higher percentage in the stride). The Edge transitions from midfoot to forefoot nicely. I find the Sky just bounces keeping you on the midfoot. Shoes like that start to fatigue my Achilles.
This is correct, if you just look at the 2 shoes the Sky has a wider plate in the forefoot area. It's another way they are different. Funny enough I have both and my times are almost identical, but they feel very different Running wise mostly because of the spoon plate in the edge Paris. Both are brilliant.

Those are good reference points. I’m going to do the same for a 5k I did recently

Thanks for the video. I'm a heel striker but also a stride runner... would you still recommend the sky over the edge? Thanks.

I love all these comparisons! I feel like if you enjoy the vaporfly then you’ll like the Edge. But that’s just initial impressions only.
There is another way to tell them apart. One has more midsole flair at the forefoot
I’ll have to check that out! The sky has slightly less rubber underfoot too I think.

Much prefer the lower plate. High plates put strain on my Achilles. @@ericwj7
For me, the Sky felt softer on my feet
A lot of people have said that. I felt like the Edge has a much more pronounced rocker
Two of Calgary’s best!
We only run because of you!! :)
