    Googled these after recalling that my uncle stayed in RAF after WW2 and flew Meteors. Have a picture of him by his plane.

    I used to fly light aircraft . One day I was walking back to the hanger across the airfield . At the rear of the control tower I came a cross a pile of what I thought was scrap . Among it I could recognize the wings of a Mk 1 Meteor . What surprised me was the intakes for the engines was not aluminium. But made from thick plywood !

    I was always astonished with the models but in this one the format is very well thought too. Quick question im looking for a decent 1/48 riveting tool. Which one do you use?

    • @Scaleaton
      @Scaleaton  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Onur, I use www.radubstore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=304 It's a great tool for 1/32 and 1/48. It needs 0.55 and 0.65mm extra wheels for smaller scales.

    just superb work , you have probably been asked a hundred times , what airbrush do you use , and where did you find those saw blade's please

    • @Scaleaton
      @Scaleaton  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Steve. I use cheap Iwata Clones (0.3 and 0.2 for painting) and my lovely H&S Evolution (Final weathering) on this video. Also i used Hasegawa Trytool TP-3 Modeling Saw Set.

  • @BennyCFD
    @BennyCFD 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    WOW...! Another great video, perhaps one of your best. I like the new video format with the popup panes with the airbrushing/paint information, and you built this in only 22:16. That thinned ratio of alcohol and Tamiya paint gives terrific results. I was wondering if alcohol can be used in non Tamiya paints. What is the video editor are you using.
    Thanks for another masterpiece.

    • @Scaleaton
      @Scaleaton  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you very much! Alcohol works with Gunze acrylics too. I use Adobe Premiere for editing videos.

      As with most things, the hardest part is committing to doing it. The worst that will happen, is you'll mess up. It's not a big deal.

  • @watashinomairu
    @watashinomairu 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Are you sure to glue the lead with superglue? Most modellers say that superglue reacts with lead and can break the fuselage after few years. I usually fix lead with tamiya epoxy putty or poxipol

    • @Scaleaton
      @Scaleaton  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes i heard it before. But I heard that they were having trouble because they mixed the super glue with the carbonate. I've been modeling for 15 years. I did not have such a problem. Maybe I am lucky :)

  • @greglaw8057
    @greglaw8057 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Another great build in 1/72 . I think it is harder to get that kind of result in this scale than 1/48. Do you use your H&S to do the white mottle effect. I'm about to try it on a bf 109E3.
    I have a H&S infinity. To be honest I have been putting off using, as it is like a new car one doesn't want to get dirty.... Anyway it is time to get it setup.

    • @Scaleaton
      @Scaleaton  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I usually use my cheap Iwata clone for white mottling. H&S is great airbrush but sometimes light colors can cause problems. Because it's designed for airbrush paints. Model paints are quite thick. Nevertheless it gives the same result in two to three times

    I love your work but seriously, you did all that work and no shoulder harness on the pilots seat?

  • @alexmoor1166
    @alexmoor1166 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi.
    As I saw, you use Tamiya acrylic flat and gloss.
    I use it too. I don't have problems with gloss(H&D infinity, 0.4mm, 1:2 ratio, 10-25psi).
    But I have problems with Tamiya acrylic flat. Looks like it's clogging nozzle every time(H&D infinity, 0.4mm, 1:2 - 1:3 ratio, 10-25psi). I test it on new paint - right from store. Thinner - Tamiya x-20a.
    Airbrush paints paints paints... and then it stops in one moment... I close nozzle with trigger and then open it again. Airbrush starts paint again. But not for very long.
    Maybe someone have an advice for me :(

    My bad, I just realized that it appears you added the pilot... Why did you have the waste strap on the seat if you were planning to put a pilot in the cockpit? Anyway nice work, I think with all that detail I would have left the pilot out. Salute!

  • @joe1168
    @joe1168 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    It may be my air brush, but for some reason I spray at 15psi, 9:1 X20A and a Gunze colour, trying to do the uneven effect on the underside, and it just spiders and doesn’t spray anything like yours. I do have a 0.25mm nozzl.

    • @Scaleaton
      @Scaleaton  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try isopropyl alcohol or cheap vodka instead of X20A ;)

    • @joe1168

      Scale-a-ton I have ISP and a lot of it I always use it as an airbrush cleaner but would ISP really be better than specific paint thinners?

    • @Scaleaton
      @Scaleaton  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it is better when shading with an airburush. But works only Tamiya and Gunze acrylics.

    • @joe1168
      @joe1168 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So preshade and post shade with ISP and do coats with the tamiya thinners?
