you don't see many Emperor covers at all anywhere, for a reason. you sir, smashed it. awesome!
Trym was an incredible drummer. That constant double-kick barrage requires a lot of stamina and precision.
Actually not really, once you get the technique down its pretty easy. Looks difficult but higher tempos are actually easier than say mid tempos where you have to use a lot of leg motion or very high tempos where you are doing something radical.
Trym IS a great drummer. He is still alive and playing.
@@Nefville Is the double bass at 2:51 done with diddles on both bass drums?? Or is he just playing it half speed and the sound is from the record?
@@molochz I think you misunderstand, I'm not saying the song was easy or that Samus is not as talented as he is, just that the technique is not as hard as you would think to learn and play the extended double bass.

9/10 times I prefer watching the original drummer perform the song but Samus is so good sometimes I prefer his versions. "You win. Perfect"

Love your drumming style, technique, and amazing abilities. I have to ask though... are you cheating at 2:50 - 3:55? I understand the double bass on that part is extremely fast and requires much endurance. What leads me to that question is the reflection of your pedals do not play at that BPM. It may deal with the shutter speed of your camera, but there are also points where you are hitting those BPMs on select points of the song and it is apparent your pedals are going that fast. Not trying to be the guy that calls you out, but a glaring observation inclined me to pose the question.

@@acidrain812 How is your claim shown in the video? Can you provide evidence of your claim? Looking at the video, with respect to the portion of which I'm describing, his toes are near the base of the drum pedal. Therefore his heels are not touching the pedal at all.
Nate Shanks 🤦♂️ dude you’re on TH-cam, go look up heel-toe. But if you’re too lazy, heel-toe is a double stroke technique where you press down with the middle of your foot for the first stroke then snap the ball of your foot & your toes forward for the second stroke. You do not use your heel in this motion, it’s just called heel-toe since “middle of the foot-toe” isn’t a very catchy name
Nate Shanks at 0:26 he’s using single stroke heel up/ankle motion. Since that tempo is around 190-ish (idk) he can play that comfortably, but when the fast double bass kicks in, it’s around 250-ish and since it’s a continuous stretch he just switched to doubles since it’s a lot easier than singles

can you do strawberry fields forever... or i am the walrus.... but with extreme metal drumming lol...i used to play in a metal band back in the 90s i played guitar, bass, drums all in different bands. i would love to jam out with this dude. would be so fun. Seems like he can probably figure out 100 ways to play to a riff within 5 minutes... he's just one of those guys. i'm a bit like that too myself. but i don't have the precision this guy has. his speed and precision is super tight... u rock samus
