  • Planning a Greek Island-Hopping trip can be challenging, as it involves figuring out which islands to visit, finding a hotel, and whether the ferry goes to those islands. Let's plan one together in this video.
    In this video, I walk you through my process of finding an island to visit, picking a hotel, and finding ferries.

    Pro tip if you are going to do more than one island and one is well connected and one isnt. Start off on the not well connected island and save the well connected island last before going back to athens.

    This is a good video for a beginner, but I am a seasoned island-hopper. What may be a good additional thing to mention is that some of the ferry schedules, especially the ones to small islands, aren't announced very far in advance so they won't be on Ferry Hopper yet for July. However, if you use openseas to look at the ferry schedules you can look back at last year which will give you a good idea of what ferries will be running this year.

      Yes this is aimed at people who haven’t done it or have not been to Greece yet. Openseas is great.

    Folegantros is such a beautiful island , and the most important quiet island but beautiful. The beaches are amazing 😍

    That's island hopping in a nutshell these days! 😂 Last time we were in Folegandros, it seemed like they were trying to market themselves as a honeymoon destination, that might explain some of the higher prices? Most of the 'action' was in Chora, not much in the port. I'm like you I prefer to stay in ports but wasn't really an option on Folegandros. Sikinos is sooo quiet, but I'd still go back in a heartbeat, it needs better boat connections. I don't know if Ios is still party central in summer but it's a beautiful place you might be able to reach from Folegandros if you go. Cheers Tiffany!

      That could be. I was very surprised at the prices. This was just to show people how I would do it. I’m not actually going on this trip. I have been to Ios many times! I love it. It’s only party central at like 2 AM so not an issue for me.

    Hi Tiffany Hope you are feeling better after your last post. Planning this sort of thing is not easy. Rather than go to Sifnos you could suggest Paros or Naxos as both have ferry connections to Donousa and of course regular ferries back to Athens. I look regularly at Matt Barretts Greek Island website and the majority of queries seem to be about flights to the islands so you could do a follow up on where you can fly to without touching Athens. ( Sorry this rules out US travellers but would be okay from European destinations.) Flying to Santorini for example you should be able to pick up a ferry to Folegandros most days in summer. If you cannot find a hotel there is always the beach if fancy roughing it!.

      Thank you! Island hopping is difficult and I never do it as I am not of fan of this much planning. Haha. You make a great suggestion to go to Paros or Naxos to get to Donousa. I have thought about making a video about what islands have airports so that could work.

    Hi Tiffany 😊
    I’ve booked a “4star” hotel (Athens Lodge) room ( Executive Family Apartment) in Monastiraki for October 2024. After I booked I pulled up street view on Google Earth and I’m not confident that hotel area can even receive taxis.

    • @agirlandherpassport
      @agirlandherpassport  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Technically it can but due to Little Kook being there, it might be tight. They will do their best to get you as close as possible. The area is pretty flat so no worries about getting your suitcases there.

      @@agirlandherpassport thanks again. I did watch your hotel area video and I think we will be happy with the area. I just hope the accommodations are okay. We will arrive at the cruise ship port and figure out how to get to Monastiraki. But the departure will be from the Airport. Your videos have been very helpful.

      @@sled7782 It has good reviews so I think you will be okay. I recommend prebooking a taxi from the cruise port and to the airport. I use Welcome Pickups, www.welcomepickups.com/athens/airport-transfer-book/?tap_a=81984-3dc5a2&tap_s=2082833-652438

    Hi, thank you very much for the videos. I have been inspired and am travelling to the Cyclades this september. I hope you dont mind me asking a question. My flight arrives at 11pm at athens and I have a ferry at Piraeus 7am next morning. Do you have a recommendation on how to handle that transfer, is there a lounge at the airport or ferry terminal?

    • @agirlandherpassport
      @agirlandherpassport  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You’re welcome. I would get a hotel room in Piraeus. I recommend the Triton hotel. There isn’t a lounge after getting out of baggage claim so you would just be sitting at the airport and there is no lounge at the ferry terminal.

    Hi, I am arriving to Athens on the 20th April, after a week approximately. I am planning to stay for one month. Can you recommend a mobile phone line that I can buy to use during this month including a package of Internet.
    Thanks

      Check with Cosmote. I think they have best service and do offer internet packages.

    Ferryhopper now charges a booking fee. We just booked directly with ferry and saved 15 euros.

      I haven’t been charged a booking fee with them. I think it has to do with what ferry company but it’s not on every ticket.

    O.k. Folgegandros only has a length of 12,5 km and is 4 km broad. I would not need a car there.

      Definitely not! I couldn't do the hills on foot but the bus system should be enough to at least get someone up the hill to Chora then you could walk if it wasn't too hot.
