@@taeko3508 I think it might have been because of his age and the fact that he failed his assessment twice. When you're a teenager, you think everyone knows what you're doing and is judging you. This usually carries into adulthood. Plus, he failed his assessment because he tried to show cats that he was capable of exceeding expectations. I'd believe people were comparing me to one of the greatest leader if I were in his shoes.
They should have did the Nightheart plot a few arcs before this! Especially before they keep crossing Firestars lines together for NO REASON. Ie Ivypool/Fern, Sparkpelt and her mate being related to one another. They made way too many large Firestar kin litters and it dont matter no more sadly. It would have made so much more sense for Sparkpelt or Fernsong to feel like that. But nope just skip over that generation and go further down and down.

You know what? After book 2, I can’t blame Nightheart. They were just oddly. Horrible to him? Like. “You changed your name. You’re spoiled and we’re going to ignore you.” The rest I can understand, but Jesus Christ why did they purposefully make Sparkpelt a horrible mother after she had a whole arc about recovering from PPD? Like. They could have made her a gray one just fine in this arc! But she’s just. Nasty. Then sweet. Then nasty, again, it’s so weird. (I’ve only read up to Book 3 of this arc, so if I’m missing something, feel free to tell me 😅)
