No offense but, there is something missing here....Charisma, bangers, attitude. Swayze exploded the screen in that movie. Ben Gazzara was THE mean bad guy, Marshall Teague was the guy you just hated, not crazy and off course Sam "fricking" Elliot

All of Hollywood is remakes, going back to like 1910, all successful movies are remade, no matter what. You get the name recognition and nostalgia buyers. It usually makes money, and is a safer investment for film makers. I know it sucks but I don't and you don't own Hollywood

I don't like the MMA angle. What was great about Swayze's character was how enigmatic he was. You knew, but you didn't. It was all underground. It left his origins up to your imagination. You didn't need to be told he was a trained fighter in UFC

The Swayze flick is one of my all time faves. Jake doesn't have that Swayze cool, he gives off a more " pychotic vibe"......But Im In. Can't wait to see my boy McGregor in action.

Swayze was in a class all on his own; I had so much respect for him; he was talented on so many different levels & was so shocked when he got sick and died. Why can't the criminals in the world get sick instead. I agree with you about the psychotic vibe; there's just something about Jake that's a little creepy. Swayze and Sam Elliott just rocked that movie; I can't imagine any other actor will be able to beat it.

It's midnight 1 am and i've just finished the movie. I wanted to watch this since the trailer was came. I had downloaded the movie a more than a month ago But couldn't watch i was too busy.
But today i watched it. It's absolute masterpiece being a fan of Jake Gyllenhaal and conor mcgregor i enjoyed this movie a lot.

Has the potential to be at least a decent update / alternative, but you can tell the grit and attitude is missing. Then mix in modern-day "awkward moment" jokes / humour, all the female characters (including bartenders) being cast to be as "plain" as possible (putting it nicely), an obviously CGI explosion, no Sam Elliott replacement by the looks of it (big mistake) and what feels like a push & pull between alpha & beta in characters that should be 100% alpha. Will watch it for Jake & Connor.
Great reimagining of the 1989 classic and brought it up to date for 2024 audiences. Loved it!

It can be not as good as the original, but still a fun and entertaining movie worth watching once (or more). It does nothing to take away for the original movie when that happens. If anything it pays tribute bc people try to improve upon it, but can't. Still, none of that matters bc it doesn't matter if it's better, worse, or equal to the original, it can still be good.

Just watched the original. No one will ever be Patrick Swayze. Patrick was perfect. However, i do like Jake Gyllenhaal, so i'm willing to give this a chance to see how it pans out. If anyone has watched South Paw, y'all will understand why they chose Jake to play this new Dalton. He is not Patrick , obviously. But Jake in South Paw will explain why no one else could be the new Dalton except Jake. Now the old setting was perfect for Patricks Dalton. That's why even though this one has the same storyline, they changed the setting to fit Jake's Dalton. Most remakes don't change the setting. It's just exactly like the original, but updated. I like how they changed the setting to fit this Dalton and for how it's playing out, that's another reason i'm willing to watch this. The original was in a small southern town with country folk who needed top dog of the south to clean up the honky tonk bar. So Patrick was perfect, especially if you watched him in Dirty Dancing or Outsiders. Now Jake, i love him, but he couldn't be in the original setting at all. Do they changed it to fit him and i appreciate that. This one is florida folk in the florida keys. Now that, that is gonna be a show. Watch South Paw if anyone hasn't and you'll understand why Jake is perfect for THIS Dalton. I'm willing and able, buuuuut i was raised in a small town out in the sticks, i can relate to the original Roadhouse. As my brother in law is from Florida, so he can relate to the new one. But no one will ever surpass the original.

This trailer is a work out pump of the gridiron muscle in its self entirety as to no pun referenced to how muscular these two have become for this movie role and trailer. I like how the beginning of this trailer is like the end of the Nightcrawler movie by Jake Gyllenhaal where he was low in weight. Then I see footage he slapping everyone silly haha. Then Connor McGregor is his Opponent or Trainer?!?!. Pshh I'm watching this movie asap. UFC movie. Let's gooooo!

I'm right there with you. For me I'm not even going to treat it like a remake, I'm going to watch it like it is it's own movie. Especially because in my opinion the last couple of Jake Gyllenhaal movies have been really good.
Oh and Streets of Fire is one of my all time favorite movies. Diane Lane was an absolute smoke show in it and Michael Pare played the badass pretty good and then Willem Dafoe was cool af.

I watched the original today; there's so much about it that I forgot and I LOVED the original. I forgot that Patrick Swayze smoked in the movie which I didn't notice back then because I smoked then too. I quit smoking 25 years ago. I forgot about how many F bombs there were which I didn't notice back then because, you got, I said fuckng A many times back then. LOL, I forgot about how we used to get all dressed up when we went out dancing which was so much fun. I forgot the bar was called Double Deuce and that Sam Elliot's character died in the movie. Patrick Swayze was so cool and smooth without even trying. Love him
