Wait.... you can build in it? It says it's a settlement but I could never find a workstation anywhere in it. Plus if you kill the brotherhood there is the matter of the whole dang air ship falling onto the place and kind of.... exploding into a blaze of glory. I'm not even sure that the minute men could clean up that.
at first, the Minutemen started as a self-defence community but as time passed and the minutemen growing in size and building more settlements,they became more "militaristic". Trying to gather more people under the minutemen banner. I'm starting to wonder if Dave's Minutemen is going to become the evil guys. "order and safty" all that kinds of stuff.
Now that I've watched the defense part. Imagine if there's really a quest for this settlement and one of them was to defend an organized massive mirelurk attack with some gatorclaws at a time where the power supplies are malfunctioning and the walls have been breached which are sabotaged by a settler who doesn't agree with General Dave's ways and you're last resort was to free the raiders you held captive to help defend and fix the power supplies. Something like a last stand. Man, this is my favorite settlement so far. I liked it so much that I actually had a story going on in my mind. Lol.
I like to imagine that the residence don't actually like the minute men taking over and would have prefered to stay independent and the turrets/guards are there to quell their hatred and the riots
My first settlement on the PS4 was inspired by your first ever build. Fortress Sanctuary. I gathered all of the supplies necessary to make it look lived in. I place bottles, soap, tooth brushes, beer, coffee cups, hot plates, actual plates, silverware, coffee tins, newspapers, clothing lit cigarettes in the ash trays, weapons resting near guard posts, handcuffs in my little police/public safety building, even pillows on or next to a few beds. Yet I look at your settlements and I still cannot get over how much better they look. I bow before the holy God Emperor of settlement building, Dave!
I've replayed F4 with the Minutemen/BOS/Railroad are not at war ending. Then I did a build at Somerville place with separate areas for each faction, using the USO mod to place a few faction guards. Then I did the same with Murkwater Construction, and have them trading exclusively. It's really interesting, the comments the settlers make with all 3 factions around and not fighting!
There needs to be one settlement that's just been captured by force by the Minutemen. One place ripped apart when General Dave moved in, just to cement the moral ambiguity. I mean, what happens if someone doesn't want to help rebuild the General's America? Just some random settlers, not raiders, getting beaten up by the Minutemen.

I feel like one of the new parts of training for the Minutemen is to haul stuff like the streetlights and old boxcars and the statues for building new settlements. "Welcome to the Minutemen, soldier, and congratulations on completing boot camp." "Thank you, General, sir. What's my first assignment?" "One of the most important jobs in the Commonwealth, son." (slightly excited) "I'm going to scout new settlements and fight off bands of Raiders?" "Even better. You and your buddies here are going to haul these statues to our new outpost at Starlight Drive-In." (confused) "But, sir, how is that--" "All will know that I--that the Minutemen reign supreme in in the Boston area." "Sir--" "All. Will. Know."
I highly recommend the mod 'Minigun Emplacements' because it allows you to construct defensive Miniguns in your settlements which automatically spawn a guard for which to use it. It's a really fun mod and it's also Lore Friendly.
This is what I love about you bro, one of the few that don’t do settlements where everything is floating and stuff. It’s hard to find a video like this.
Definately the best settlement I have seen yet, I'm working on a sanctuary build on ps4 and even with the limited mods I believe I could make something better than most out there
This is perhaps the most realistic settlement by far Dave, you've outdone yourself exponentially on this one...! Only getting around to watching this today as I never noticed it was uploaded, it was certainly something that I am keenly enjoying the tour of, honestly it looks more realistic than 90% of in game settlements themselves...! This is somewhere I would want to spend my time and visit if I was exploring the Commonwealth, keep up the outstanding work...!
Well, I subscribed about a week or so ago and have been watching all these settlement videos since...I guess the binge is now over. I've watched them all. You do an excellent job with these builds and the presentation is great. I look forward to seeing any more of these in the future. They are a proper treat.
Really love this settlement, easily my favourite since Pleasure Island. Really great work man! I do enjoy watching your build-a-long vids but there's something really cool about seeing these 'secret' projects. They always feel much more unique and out there. Looking forward to any future builds you have planned. Just going by Joel's idea right at the start of this build, would be really cool to see a minutemen distillery settlement where we get to see General Dave's Signature Bourbon!
When Dave completes his conquest of the Commonwealth and builds every settlement, his computer will suck him inside the game since a partial part of his soul had been crafted into it.
I watched the video on Sanctuary Hills last night while I was high, and I was blown away! Now I'm sober, and I am again, blown away! This is fucking incredible! The attention to detail and plausibility of design...... this is amazing work!
I am at the part where you show it from the sky before you delete everything to show Joel what it looked like before. I have to say I was proud of my Somerville when I finished it thinking huh I bet not many people could make it cool as I did. Then I saw this and omg I feel bad about my somerville now. I mean your somerville is like Optimus Prime and my somerville is like Sam Witwicky. I gotta say this settlement perfectly captures the idea of Fallout. Wonderful job man!

I have always thought the smaller the size the more detailed it becomes when I build a small settlement I spend the same amount of Time on it then my city-like settlements but your city-like settlements are so detailed I cant imagine the time you spend getting harassed by the snapping into the game to make it look perfect. Appreciate your inspiration to take your time with settlements and find something unique about that location and hide the locations weaknesses and make the strengths really standout
Your settlement videos fill me with inspiration, yet also with a hue of sadness because I want to build like that, but I don't think I have the time or will to do so. Good job tho
Galewalion Well Joel's Pleasure Island exists for two visible reasons. One, to serve has a magnet and "safe haven" for raider, where in reality it's a filthy gilded trap. Second, it keeps a raider presence in the Commonwealth, giving the Minutemen reason to exist still.
I don't really care much about the settlement building myself, but I always enjoy seeing these beautiful, detailed creations by talented people. This is honestly even better than the vanilla settlements.
Dave you should make another sign pack with a lot of the signs you use that aren't Minutemen related like let us in or the menu at the bar and stuff like that because I feel having more signs like some of the ones you use could add a new level of detail to my settlements. I'm on Xbox by the way so that's why I'm asking.
Vault 94 is a destroyed filthy vault, and it is also full of gunners. ironically it also happens to be the location you need to go to to do cait's main quest. so much for your clean towels. :)
super cool. make all the shop keeps minute men, considering they control supply lines and the settlement is mostly independent so they will be able to defend themselves with minimal aid.
I absolutely love the Thematic and Practical mod. I use it more than normal furniture in settlements that are further away from my main "Empire" I'm thinking of building up one of the settlements to be a furniture and general supplies factory. You should do the same Dave. Maybe Jamaica Plain or Warwick Homestead?

I love all of these settlements! Trying to make my own awesome settlements, little thing nagging me though, I cannot find that butcher table that Cait is using anywhere! I got a Butchers capsule set up beside what would be a restaurant in Sanctuary, which currently has three brahmins in a pen! Its all for the immersion...
Gotta make this: minutemen lab and weapons factory featuring reclaimed institute tech and whatnot along with storage facilities and factories for anything the general uses to both sculpt and arm the commonwealth -signed the general of the east
If u want to add dogs without compromising your amount of settlers, here's how. 1. Send some of the settlers away 2. Buy and send dogs to the settlement 3. Do some mechanist side quests where u go fight stray bots. Sometimes there are people you can recruit after the fight and they aren't scripted to actually take in to account how many settlers are needed in your town. Aka: they can still be recruited even after your town is full.
A mod that definitely adds realistic value is a live stock mod that adds in animals for food production. Making it to were you have actual animals for food.

You should build a settlement who has escaped the tyranny of the minutemen, thus a settlement that is not under the protection of the minutemen.
Well that's what Joel's for. Leave the Minutemen's protection, Dave sics Joel and "Joel" turns the settlement into Pleasure Island 2.0

honestly, I would love to see a settlement by the Brotherhood of Steel protecting the people from the "evil" Minutemen.
This build reminds me a bit of metro in its contrast of pragmatic space usage and humble decorative flair

A mod that definitely adds realistic value is a live stock mod that adds in animals for food production. Making it to were you have actual animals for food.
