You're awesome, Ethys \'w'/ Your videos help me establish backstories for my characters, and write scenarios for roleplay in FFXIV. I've been looking forward to you tackling this raid. Great work as always!
Dude im like 5 minutes into the video and this is such a cool concept and im loving every moment of it, guess im binging on all the other videos aswel after this one!!
Heyye Ethys! Always love these videos. As for the size and proportions of the mhachi and shades, I feel as though there's be some significance there. In the Sunken Temple of Qarn, the final boss's mummification spell will transformation you into a lalafellen mummy! If such a detail was added, then perhaps they would have changed the enemies to follow suit. It's just a thought!
26:01 "...with the land of Oz via radio in order to- Jesus Christ! Alliance A is down! This is going to be a fucking wipe, right here! Please no!" I fucking lost it lmao.
I also figured out Calofisteri wasn't always a Voidsent from her battle text alone. She spoke of 'drinking deep of the Void' and 'ascension' and I came to the same conclusion you did. I also think the way the Nullstone works is similar to how we kill Ascians. The reason Voidsent are 'unkillable' is because their physical bodies are merely containers for their aether and their aether will eventually reform itself. Super high level Voidsent like the Cloud of Darkness can even interact while being nothing but aether. The Nullstone seems to work by forcefully breaking down a Voidsent into its aetherial components and dispelling the consciousness that gives the aether form. Like when we kill an Ascian we destroy their body reducing them to an aetherial soul that we then forcefully disperse, destroying the consciousness inside and leaving nothing but pure aether.
Are we sure that the Mhachi were all potatoes? I know from the SCH questline that there was definitely a lalafell population, but the statues in the Void Ark when combined with the Hyur zombies seems to imply a Highlander population within Mhach as well.
I made a connection between Nym and Ozma my fist time through the Weeping City but your commentary on it really helps to solidify a story in my mind. I suspect that the Tonberry curse was aimed at neutralizing Nyms military and provide Mach an opportunity to use Ozma and wipe them out. I've always been fascinated by the War of the Magi so these little glimpses into that period make me very excited for the final installment of this raid. Somewhat unrelated... but, I wonder if the Palace of the Dead will shed any more light on the Amdapori side of the conflict?
I love the video. First time viewer. However, one of the things that I'm most curious about is the statues occupying the corner of the upper pyramid (Corner of the room of the last boss). There are 3 very large humanoid (in shape) men chained up by large chains that have links that seem to resemble the symbols associated with the 12 gods, all linked together. It's so very interesting it can't just be for show.. Right?? Let me know what you think! I can't seem to find anything when I research it :P
Hoping to see a video on Dun Scaith if there isn't one. Trying to do my readings for uni tomorrow but I love watching all your videos, so it's hard to concentrate haha! Thanks for these
Hearing in the live letter that the deep dungeon will be accessible from quarymill, do you have any doubt that the palace of the dead is part of the gelmoran ruins (specifically that big crater being excavated)? Great video as always.
I hope that if SE ever adds another race to the game, it'll be a void sent race. They could even be Machi that escaped to the void and were slowly transformed over generations in there.
The void magic/black mages could be very scary tbh.... like imagine on the battlefield, and them forgall conjures Megadeath and it just anhilates every living thing
@2:50ish Though in 2015, the Taiwanese Ka La Van won best whiskey in the world or something to that degree, apparently. As a non-whiskey (or alcohol drinker for that matter) I was kinda surprised to learn that off hand. Though, taste is all opinion anyway hehehe.
So you want to be drawn like one of those French vampires Ethys? Sorry, I couldn't resist with the lounging coffin. I think one missed oportunity to talk about with the final boss, apart from her appearance in Final Fantasy V, would be her obsession and weaponization of her hair.
So I'm curious, Ethys. Do you have any theories as to why Dun Scaith has gothic architectural designs whereas all of the other Mhachi architecture is clearly Egyptian inspired? The voidsent certainly took over but it was still built by the Mhach, yet it's so different from everything else we've seen from them, including the things we saw from their ancestors.
seems like the void ark plot is basically a retelling of Cuculain's tales (sp). with us, the WoL, being the embodiment of Cuculain. presuming we are Gae Bolg wielding dragoons.
Pronounces Cait Sith correctly, yet calls Scáthach "Ska-thak" :p. Anyways, nice video as always Ethys. I think your view on Arachne Eve is pretty spot on
I feel like we would have to go into the void to kill the shadow queen, but then it would feel like the same we did with the crystal tower and WoD. >,>
I know it's a bit late but I wonder if what are in modern days lalafels looked more huyr like in ancient times, could explain why they use huyr models instead of lalafel ones: I got no evidence to support this theory though. It might also explain why drwarves (aka lalafels on the First) are considered a beast tribe and not spoken, what ever that turned them into their current forms was enough for people of the first to consider dwarves "no longer spoken".
The last dungeon will be Dunscaith where we will fight a revived Cuchulain, Firdiad, Diabolos, Scathach and finally the most deadly boss of them all... a plate of dog meat!
I know this is five years late but I could help bursting out laughing at work after your glory hole description.
Awesome, war of the magi lore is my favorite!

I'm really impressed that you're able to remain so coherent while fighting these bosses live.
Dude im like 5 minutes into the video and this is such a cool concept and im loving every moment of it, guess im binging on all the other videos aswel after this one!!
As someone living in the Highlands, your shout-out to the best export was very much appreciated.
you dont get enough credit for all of your work. I sincerely enjoy you discussing every aspect of the lore.

scholar 54 job quest does mention an mhach attack on nym.
There's an opening to a building that can be presumed to be the Shrine of Shatotto, but the stairs are crumbled.
yes, this was as awesome as expected. Thanks a lot for this Ethys.

I think like most places in eorzea, tthey could have a kind of diverse populace

If rabbits are voidsent.
great content been watching your videos and they are really good. instant sub lol
Ethys I think there are three statues there. I haven't rant it in a while but last time I looked there's a third down to the bottom of the chamber.
youre right, I was just coming here to tell him that. There are 3 statues. So his guess of Nald'Thal is off.
The Glory Hole comment.... I love it...
The void magic/black mages could be very scary tbh.... like imagine on the battlefield, and them forgall conjures Megadeath and it just anhilates every living thing
I think the hitbox thing is explained by his tail. SE does tend to put everything of a mob in its hitbox, and his tail is standing out quite a bit.
love the islay whiskey part :D absolutely delicous

Did anybody think it weird that the undead Mhachi black mages had conjurer/white mage battle stances?

I could listen to your voice forever lol.
"... where we know that the Belah'dian's were 100% potatoes..." 9:35. I laughed so hard XD

Indeed
Awesome video, one note though; Islay (whisky) is pronounced just 'EYE-la'
Keep em coming!
Scccheudohistory. That's new.
Pronounces Cait Sith correctly, yet calls Scáthach "Ska-thak" :p. Anyways, nice video as always Ethys. I think your view on Arachne Eve is pretty spot on
Shatotto Totto is so awesome :D
Arachne Eve... I think there might be an Umbral Zone episode in there.
I feel like we would have to go into the void to kill the shadow queen, but then it would feel like the same we did with the crystal tower and WoD. >,>
does every nation have something akin to the tipsumati or dragon's eye?

"100% potatoes" XD favorite part
Would be cool is Nald and Thal ended up being voidsent, buuuuuut that doesnt seem likely. Always love these videos though, thanks!
So Forgall has a daughter and one of the adds is a succubus. Connection maybe?
please make your own state of the realm pod cast or something like it. Mrhappy is a joke.
Why do they mix Irish and Egyptian lore? Seems a bit of a stretch to try. Oh and pseudo sounds like 'seudo' so it has a silent p. Nice work! :)
Did you major in history or literature? This is good stuff and presented in a keen way. Thanks for this
First time I saw ozma I thought giant goatse.
What bed was that
calofisteri is a FFV boss, also
Your helm reminds me of Arceus.
The last dungeon will be Dunscaith where we will fight a revived Cuchulain, Firdiad, Diabolos, Scathach and finally the most deadly boss of them all... a plate of dog meat!
I started laughing on the 2nd boss when the 3 dead players were all naturally dragoons.
oh shit one of your teammates is madara uchiha
Judging
@30:32
oh YES
STOP CALLING LALAFELLS POTATOES!!
Mmmm Islay scotch.
Something the Irish and the Aussies have in common then! haha!
Regards, Britain :D
