My new K70 arrived this afternoon - after having all the other Pentaxes at one time or another, I think I'm going to love this one.

Hi Lee - Nice intro. I think it's a lot of fun too and I also like Photomatix. On a bright sunny day with deep shadow, the human eye can discern about 16 bit depth in dynamic range, a typical DSLR can capture 14 bit depth in RAW and a print, display, or JPG is only about 8. So beyond the tone effects, it will also allow you to present interior detail and exterior detail shooting outside a window on a sunny day, for example. One thing I try to do is keep aperture constant due to its effect on depth of field and so I use a tripod. But very often shooting in RAW, I can create the same series of 5 you did from a single RAW file and then process those in Photomatix. So the span of 8 stops exposure in your example can also easily be be produced from a single, centered RAW file. Thanks for your video and I hope others accept your invitation to try it. Photomatix used to have a free trial download option that I think has a watermark on the final image but it would be a good way for people to see if they like it before buying. Also, some cook images you did too !
