Well, I guess I can add a bit of trivia for all of you that were fans of the show.... The computer that was responsible for all the cutting-edge 3D effects (at the time) was the Commadore Amiga and I was one of the primary technicians that built most of the systems that did all that CGI. The days of the Video Toaster on the Amiga were legendary in the 3D animation world for several years. The computer was way ahead of its time and only died because of massive mismanagement. I did enjoy working on the show and was sad to see it go. I have to admit I did not know a reboot was in the works, I shall look forward to seeing that show when or if it airs.
I had an Amiga at the time and reading about the Amigas involvement is what got me into Babylon 5 in the first place. Is it true that the Amiga was only used for the pilot or was it used for other episodes too? With the release of B5 on bluray I always thought it wouldnt be too hard to re-master the cgi effects and bring them up to date. I wonder if the original Lightware files are still around. Maybe for the 4k bluray release? 😆
It is not only mismanagement - the advantages of the Amiga were a major problem for updates. They fell to the wayside to a more modular system that would have been a totally incompatible setup.
Excellent show Probably the best SciFi series ever made, deep and complex and to follow you had to watch every episode. Bought the whole set as soon as they became available. I hope I'll get the opportunity to watch the reboot although I'll miss seeing those actors that have passed.
Londo Malari stole every scene he was in. I miss that show. I was fortunate enough to work on the set of The Longest Ride with Peter. One day I walked up to him and said "Emperor, would you care for a mint?" we had a bit of a laugh at that.
Claudia Christianson is in the thumbnail pic for this video, but not in the video itself. Jeff Conaway, who played Zack Allan, sadly also died from alcoholism.
Traci Scoggins as Lochley, Andrea Thompson as Talia, Patricia Tallman as Lyta, Jason Carter as Marcus Cole, Josh Coxx as Corwin (who for some reason never made the intro credits), Caitlin Brown/Mary Kay Adams as Na'Toth, Ed Wasser as Morden, Walter Koenig as Bester ... I understand limited time, but those had important enough roles to warrant a mention as well as the two you mentioned.
Easily the best sci fi series that's been created. Even more so, considering all the hassles and ludicrously tight budget it had to work with. But it was the actors who made this series legendary. My favorite was Peter J. He was written so well and his performances were exemplary.
Walter Koenig could have been mentioned - even if we didn't see him very often, he played an important role in many of the plots of B5. Good video thought, sad to see so many of those actor have left us.

I'll never forget the final scene in ''Sleeping In Light'' where Sheridan and Delenn say their goodbyes. It breaks my heart every time. I suggested to my wife that we buy the boxed set for our 36th wedding anniversary (seeing as how we both loved the show) and she thought it was a great idea. The trouble is that B5 put me through so much of an emotional wringer that I can't get past series one. For anyone thinking the show is being remade and wondering how they are going to fill the cast, seeing as so many of our beloved actors have passed, apparently it is an animated version with voice acting only. Personally, I'm not holding my breath. I hold on dearly to my memories of a fantastic show.
I love this series. For me, Babylon 5 is better than Star Trek and, dare I say it, Star Wars. The characters and lore are fantastic. While it only ran for 5 seasons with a few to TV movies, it will always be remembered. On a side note, I have two favorites, Garibaldi and G'kar.
Thoroughly enjoyed that series and the closeness between the actors made it well worth watching, and rewatching! I did finally get to see the movie that actually tied it all together and explained the missing parts, at least.Sad to hear so many of them passed on, too. Claudia Christian has also helped write a graphic novel series that looks pretty good.
Jeffrey Sinclair was a Commander as well as head of B5. John Sheridan was Captain as well as head of B5. Commander and Captain are not the same rank #fyi

You missed something major with Bill Mumy. Even though he was in 3 episodes, he was the kid in the Twilight Zone episode (It's A Good Life) that wished people into the cornfield. A classic.

This was a great show. I went through all the trials and tribulations of if it would get renewed every year or what channel it would be on. I was glad they got the whole 5 years in and it was amazing that JMS had the whole 5 years planned out at the beginning.
After all these years, that scene with Sheridan alone on the White Star when the lights go out still makes me cry. MUSTSEE episode - "Sic Transit Vir".

"Ahhhhh.......Virrrrrr! " Without a doubt the greatest Sci-fi series of all time, and one of the greatest TV dramas of all-time. Sadly B5 has not received as much attention as Star Trek, Star Wars, and other sci-fi shows, but it is far and away the best of them all. The best character arcs are the Londo and G'Kar arc, the best captain is Sheridan, but there's only one other Captain and you didn't mention her, that's Elizabeth Lochley. 😮😢 I honestly feel the Londo and G'Kar arc is so powerful iand emotionall that it is the encapsulation of the human condition and whether or not we are capable of forgiveness in the harshestvof circumstances. It is the art of Television taken to a level it rarely goes to.
Commander Sinclar was one of the best characters, had a "devil may care" attitude, never retreated but always took on any challenge & led from the front, very sad that he suffered with his mental health, although we see his "character" given a good send off on Babylon 4 being sent back in time & transformed into Valen, a great leader of the Nimbari. The two episodes of babylon 4 stiched together, really was a terrific plot development.
Easy to answer Male :- Stephen Furst as Vir Cotto ( after all He was a favorite too in National Lampoons "Animal House" ) Female :- Patricia Tallman as Lyta Alexander, the most powerful PsiCorp, thanks to the Vorlon Kosh. Andreas was my favorite on the show as well as Bruce and cameo from Star Trek veteran Walter Koenig. It is sad that most of the original cast is no longer with us.
The show was planned for only 5 seasons from the start in fact the core story and frame work was done in the 80s it took some time to get someone to pick it up

Marcus for his care and love of others and Zathras for his willingness to serve others while not wanting anything in return (oh yes the comic relief as well). Peter Jurasik should be voice over for any Narration for the upcoming Animated Film I loved his VO in The Gathering and In The Beginning.

Great series. I never really watched when it was first broadcast. It wasn't until much later that I bought the box set and watched the whole thing end to end and loved it. I even watched it with the alternate commentary sound track start to finish. We need more fiction like this.
I didn't watch it much when it was on reruns as a kid either, though I did like what I saw at the time. Then I rediscovered it about 10 years ago and I still go back to watch it every now and again.
Favourite actor/actress in Babylon 5? Are you effing joking? Where does one start, there are so many you didn't even mention!!! Bester (Walter Koenig/Chekov in ST), Zathras (Tim Choate), or was it Zathras, always so difficult to pronounce. Then Ivanova, Lyta Alexander, and the very annoying but so heroic Marcus Cole. Even the guy who played Neroon deserves a mention. Anyway, Peter Jurasik (Londo Mollari) and Andreas Katsulas (G'Kar) had the best lines, chemistry, and story arcs. But, come on, Vir, Delenn, Sheridan/Sinclair and even old grumpy Garibaldi were all immense and epic as characters.
Missing several of the characters/actors that appeared in the later seasons. (What about Kosh, Alfred Bester, Susan Ivanova (maybe I missed this one), Marcus Cole and others)

You have an aversion to Psycorp ???? Not a mention of Lyta Alexander (Patricia Tallman) or Alfred Bester (Walter Koenig), two pivotal roles in the series, blurring the lines between heroes and villains.

After the Expanse the bar is settled high. People who worked on the Expanse should work on Babylon 5 adjusting few things. There should be redesigns for Vorlons and Shadows. There are good things on the show that deserves continuation too. A good reboot using the style of Expanse would be a success.
It's really hard to pick a favorite when so many were so good. I loved Claudia Christian and really hoped she would star in a version of the Honor Harrington stories as she had the demeanor and the badassery to do it. If I have to pick a favorite among favorites it is Andreas Katsulas. B5 really gave him so much depth to work with (much more than Star Trek ever did, btw) and he really rose to the occasion. As for the captains, it's kind of moot as Michael O'Hare wasn't capable of continuing the role due to his mental illness issues (not a criticism; I have bipolar 2 and I have had a lot of problems too) but they did give Sinclair a good closure that retained the actors' dignity. That said, I like Bruce Boxleitner's Sheridan more. He was a great Sheridan and he seemed to have real chemistry with the cast. Seeing the lovely Melissa Gilbert was a bonus.
Ugh. Tough questions. My favorite character depends on the day really. Too many great ones to chose from. Same with the episodes. So fart as the "Best captai" I'm a bit more partial to Sheradin than I was to Sinclair but I liked both COs.
"Let's hope some of these actors are still with us.....Richard Biggs". I said "oh no here we go" out loud. It's a damn shame so many of these wonderful people passed on.

I started watching B5 right from the start on our huge old satellite dish,and even through 2 kids and two cross country moves, I never missed an Episode. Now my whole family is hooked! Can't wait to see the new series
Other than the Golden girls, this show must have the highest fatality rate of any other program from the early to late 90s! It doesn’t seem natural house, so many of the cast are already dead😮😢

I cant say any other character other than Londo... Passionate, flamboyant, loyal, tragic. He just had it all.

Babylon 5 saved DS9. The show brought a necessary shake up to DD9. B5 is one of the best.

Walter Koenig is 84 years old. He’s not acting as much , but he still does conventions. Sadly, Walter’s son, Andrew, committed suicide in 2010.

Often compared negatively to DS9 I thought it was great creative nice FX and well acted
Did I miss the bit about Claudia Christian (Commander Ivanova)?
Great series. I never really watched when it was first broadcast. It wasn't until much later that I bought the box set and watched the whole thing end to end and loved it. I even watched it with the alternate commentary sound track start to finish. We need more fiction like this.
I didn't watch it much when it was on reruns as a kid either, though I did like what I saw at the time. Then I rediscovered it about 10 years ago and I still go back to watch it every now and again.
My favorite actor? Andreas Katsulas.
Tomalak was the appetizer.
G'Kar was the main course.
Favourite actor/actress in Babylon 5? Are you effing joking? Where does one start, there are so many you didn't even mention!!! Bester (Walter Koenig/Chekov in ST), Zathras (Tim Choate), or was it Zathras, always so difficult to pronounce. Then Ivanova, Lyta Alexander, and the very annoying but so heroic Marcus Cole. Even the guy who played Neroon deserves a mention.
Anyway, Peter Jurasik (Londo Mollari) and Andreas Katsulas (G'Kar) had the best lines, chemistry, and story arcs.
But, come on, Vir, Delenn, Sheridan/Sinclair and even old grumpy Garibaldi were all immense and epic as characters.
I have the total box set. All seasons and movies. Love it.

Sorry to sound like a bludy smart*r*e, missed a bit on Bruce Boxleitner, Bring'm Back Alive, granted it not a Space thing but Clyde Kusatsu deserves a mention, anytime m8. Thanks m8, nice job. Like Star Trek, Babylon 5, is right up there, with the best of'm.
You missed quite a FEW people: Jeff Conaway, Claudia Christian, Patricia Tallman, Andrea Thompson, Tracy Scoggins, Jason Carter. And those were all main starring cast at one point or another. Maybe do a part 2?

Really? Nothing on Claudia Christian? You don't miss with the big three. It would be like talking about TOS Star Trek and not even mentioning DeForest Kelley, Good work with everything else, but this is just shoddy. And you can't even say you forgot since she was in the thumbnail.

Umm, they’re already was a spinoff series. It was called “Crusade.” it only lasted one season with about 13 episodes before it was canceled.
After the Expanse the bar is settled high. People who worked on the Expanse should work on Babylon 5 adjusting few things. There should be redesigns for Vorlons and Shadows. There are good things on the show that deserves continuation too. A good reboot using the style of Expanse would be a success.
It's really hard to pick a favorite when so many were so good. I loved Claudia Christian and really hoped she would star in a version of the Honor Harrington stories as she had the demeanor and the badassery to do it. If I have to pick a favorite among favorites it is Andreas Katsulas. B5 really gave him so much depth to work with (much more than Star Trek ever did, btw) and he really rose to the occasion. As for the captains, it's kind of moot as Michael O'Hare wasn't capable of continuing the role due to his mental illness issues (not a criticism; I have bipolar 2 and I have had a lot of problems too) but they did give Sinclair a good closure that retained the actors' dignity. That said, I like Bruce Boxleitner's Sheridan more. He was a great Sheridan and he seemed to have real chemistry with the cast. Seeing the lovely Melissa Gilbert was a bonus.

Ugh. Tough questions. My favorite character depends on the day really. Too many great ones to chose from. Same with the episodes. So fart as the "Best captai" I'm a bit more partial to Sheradin than I was to Sinclair but I liked both COs.
Claudia, Patricia, & all the rest, STILL hot AF today.

The only way B5 will do well as a reboot is if they retain the same writers and director, who can take almost any actor and turn them into a star.
Picking a favorite among that legendary cast is a three-edged sword.

How could you go through that list and not mention Jeff Conaway (Zack Allan) he was in enough episodes to at least deserve a mention.
He didn't mention Claudia Christian either, even though she was, one, in the thumbnail, and two, in all episodes of every season except for the last season. There were others he didn't mention too, but still a good list.
I met al of them at different conventions its sad somany died young.

I started watching B5 right from the start on our huge old satellite dish,and even through 2 kids and two cross country moves, I never missed an Episode. Now my whole family is hooked! Can't wait to see the new series

Other than the Golden girls, this show must have the highest fatality rate of any other program from the early to late 90s! It doesn’t seem natural house, so many of the cast are already dead😮😢
