I suggest getting an Airaid Intake tube as well as it really cleans up the engine bay and adds extra power, it is a little pricey but I've been running mine for a year now and I love it definitely a difference in power when combining both the deck plate mod and this tube or you could do an isr mod too. - definitely, worth it, I can actually pass people now. and for those thinking that a cold air intake is better for this engine or in general, well the answer is that it sucks going up grades/moutains or big hills absolutely no climbing power vs this mod. just my review and 2 cents.
@@pedromunoz3513 yes, if you are ok with the sound, it is a little loud when accelerating. I recently ported my intake too which when combining everything really wakes this motor up. if you don't have the supercharger this is the way to go 👍🏼
Brother those are some outstanding questions so let's start with the supercharged question I would run it and monitor intake air temps via scangauge I already have this data for non-supercharged and overall I ran about 5°f warmer but that's only after sitting idle for 10 mins in the summer heat vs driving with it closed. Question 2 the reset.... this I usually only do if I clean the throttle body and mass air flow sensor but just installing or removing I do not and don't foresee any reason to do so. If my taco was supercharged I would still run it open all day unless I go fording. The radiator and coolant are still going to operate at same temps as non-SC
Do this and win I like it. I just carry the cap in my seat storage behind the passenger if I ever need to put it on. I may never put it on unless I had a snorkel honestly. Mpg showed 1.87 increase the very next day
I am about to do this mod to my taco. However, I feel like using a deckplate and applying self tapping screws would hold together better. I am not Knocking your idea at all. I just wanted to know how your mod is holding up with only RTV?
Its holding up perfectly honestly I still check it every now and again and it's still as strong as ever I used a silicone based rtv due to its resistance to degradation to extreme hot and cold temps I feel like rtv is a better airtight seal instead of screws which if not placed correctly or over tightened can crack the plastic but all in all take what u can from the video and if u can modify to your liking my friend it's your vehicle let us know how it goes and what u decide on. Thanks for commenting.
🤦♂️ no believe it or not the factory intake outperforms the short ram air intakes. Tested this theory for over a year. Also the cones let more dirt of a larger micron thru into the engine. Project farm proved this with the k&n filters as well.
and the fact that you can close it up on water crossings/ general off-roading is great too
I know right its so easy just slide the cap behind the seat and if u are gonna go fording boom slap it on.
Great idea. You can also get these cleanouts in black ABS plastic.

mi pregunta es ...da mas potencia y ahorro de gas y se oye el aire al entrar ¿¿¿ gracias tyler

@@pedromunoz3513 no prob hope it goes well and you get the results you want
great idea though basically exactly the same as the deck plate mod but kind of looks cooler like a velocity stack 👍🏼 great video
Hey! I appreciate the comment im working on more mods since I didn't capture the voltmeter one I recently installed with a USB port on it
@@weekendwrench if your truck has a locker I recommend the locker anytime mod bet thing since sliced bread... 👍🏼😂
@@tylerschimke9952 u mean the grey wire mod? That lets you switch locker on in 2wd
@@weekendwrench yes 👌🏻
Do you have to reset the battery once mod is done? And would you recommend doing it to a supercharged Tacoma? More heat 🥴

About to do this to my Taco exactly the same with the pvc how are you liking yours so far? Great video👍🏼

What's "fording"?
Going into deep waters
@@weekendwrench so you can be f.o.r.d. found on river dead? Lol jk

@@weekendwrench For sure! Glad to hear it's holding up nicely
If you are concerned with vibrations. The ultra gray RTV will hold better than the ultra black.
Ayo man have u ever seen a TRD supercharger for a 1st gen taco
Yes I have for the 3.4 not the 4 cylinders tho
Also what front bumper do you have? Thankyou
My bad I should've been more specific its factory bumper I just painted gloss black over the chrome and had the guard from an 88 pickup welded to it
Why don’t you open the Airbox where you put in the filter No cutting anything super simple super cheap
By doing that the lid would just wiggle back and forth and might eventually break or snap and hit the fan blade while the engine is running.
Ok.. or you can just get a cone shaped air filter
