As a car audio enthusiast I have been doing car audio for over a decade and this is some of the cleanest installs I've seen on here I have owned over 52 cars and have done more installs so bravos to you dude keep it up don't rush and take your time great jobs dude

Loved these upgrades dude! I miss my old 1st gen, I traded it in for a 13' double cab w/ 6ft bed and love it to death.. I still think about my old taco sometimes and seeing you doing all these awesome upgrades to the same truck makes me miss it even more! I just wish the radio mount was higher on the dash. I still think the old taco is slightly faster than my current one cuz it's lighter obviously but it was a blast to drive.

That truck is so clean!! That back up camera is well worth it, especially with a camper shell on the truck. I was going to put 255/85 on my Tacoma but those 33x12.50 look perfect. You have me doubting myself now

Another huge help to the sound system is sound deadening the outer door skins. I did it try and quiet down the TDI and an added bonus was way better sound from the door speakers.

Man thank you for your video so timely just bought a toyota tacoma yesterday 2004 exactly like yours it's my 2nd vehicle first was a toyota corolla but man I'm in love with this truck my 1st one was a 2017 but even though my tacoma is way older were in a generation that can really make old trucks look new now..

Nice on the wheel upgrade. I did the three spoke mod a few years ago. Ended up using a y2K celica bag with a 2005ish matrix wheel. My truck is a 96 so I had to splice my factory connector to the bag.

  • @likits1999

Awesome steering wheel. If your 3 spoke steering wheel didnt come with the cruise control switch, you can cut into the already marked area from factory and reuse your brown one until you get the black one to match from a wrecking yard. And like everyone says, teim black your steering column until you get a black matching cover. You have so much detail in that rig that its worth doing it the right way and even better from factory. I decided to go with the 3 apoke because of my Mtech steering wheels on my BMWs and Audi 3 spoke. Great job!!! Awesome attention to detail.

Nice upgrade on the wheel! I got myself one from a 05 is300 plus new leather wrap, 02 rav4 airbag. Speakers tho, best replacement I’ve done on 1st gen are the infinity reference, I had the Rockford before and some other brands and almost nothing compares to factory since they actually sound pretty darn good but just no much mid as you mentioned. Truck looks good man. Consider doing the 4 runner mirrors heated glass mod. I did that on my current 04 double cab.

Really like this channel. Can totally relate to these clean and moderately priced mods that focus on realistic use of the truck.
One thing I will say is that about $200 in sound deadener and closed cell foam (such as Ensolite) vastly improves the sound quality of your audio system and overall cab comfort. Just need to really do the rear wall and about get about 80% coverage for the inner and outer door skins (sound deadener only). And put about a 6x6" piece of the closed cell foam behind the speaker drivers to help absorb/break up the back wave. This helps really tighten up the sound of the mid range.
I also run a small four channel amp to power the speakers and added a 10" powered sub that fits under the seat. It won't boom your fillings out of your teeth but it really fills out the bottom end nicely.

Love your videos. I also just purchased mirrors just like your four-door green first GEN you have and I love them but I had to call the company back because I installed one which was gloss black which I ordered and then when I went to open the other box to install the triangle neck piece on the mirror was glass black but the rest of the mirror was a black primer finish. So I’m gonna have to paint the mirror to match the glass black mirror. I know I should’ve checked both before installing, but I was kind of a little excited to have bigger mirrors then my dinky little pre-runner, single cab mirrors. since I already installed them well one of them, I couldn’t return them because I have tool marks on them and they can’t resell them cause They are a pair but they gave me a full refund and told me to keep the mirrors so I guess that’s a win 😂 😢

By adding the tweeters to the front 6x8 coaxial speakers you went from the correct 4 ohm load to a 2 ohm load. I would be shocked if the head unit is 2 ohm stable and you run the risk of smoking the internal amp. If you want to fill the tweeter spot with tweeters the correct application would have been a set of 6x8 component speakers (one mid range 6x8 driver, one tweeter and one external crossover).
