I came to this video while trying to figure out how to remove the actual locking cylinder, and I started unplugging my battery while your video was playing, and then realized I was already at the switch and never had to remove my steering wheel. I don’t even know how you manage to get the science together to need to remove the steering wheel, but just to test out my theory I removed the switch itself that didn’t even need to come out for what I’m doing and it is sitting on the floor of my truck now With the steering wheel completely on and it took me not even 10 mins.
On my 08 f150 the plastic has a 1 inch lip that goes up under the steering wheel and the plastic won’t come off with the wheel on. Maybe you should make a video and post it up to help people out…
@@its_a_metal_thing well it’s not a thing on the 06 but I didn’t know it would require a video to help anybody out in the first place I was just blindly following this video after tearing down my truck halfway through and then realized I was already passed the part you have an issue with
If I’m going to do something I haven’t done before I’ll look for a video for some pointers. I’m going to fix it regardless. So after I figure it out I make a video for people that might not be so mechanically inclined.
Fantastic Video with great editing, I love that you say what to do and where to do it, then show it removed. As opposed to the videos that show the guy struggling and struggling with it. That is why the videos end up lasting an hour.
Good Sir, this is exactly what I needed for my truck repair. A bit out of my skill level, but definitely spot on! I can now add more miles to the 320,000 that are on my 08!❤

Yeah.I couldn’t find one for so I made it. One guy did it and said he had to use a puller to get his wheel off so that might be something to consider. Most auto parts store have a tool loan program that you could borrow a puller from.
I don’t know. Maybe look up the switch part number for your year and if it’s the same and it should be close enough. I know a 250 is different. I did have a guy that saw my video and said he didn’t have to remove the steering wheel but I know on mine there was no way to get the cover off without removing the wheel. It should be close enough to work.

@@its_a_metal_thing im in my 08 now got it off no problem pull down the kick guard at the top unlock the steering adjuster pops right out

I try and make them short and sweet. I actually make them backwards after I figure it all out.

Is the same steps for 2008 ford f150 lariat with center floor shifter? I look up online the part is the same
Should be. You might not have to pull the steering wheel off. Maybe try that first.

Oh thank you. In regards to antitheft systems, did you have to replace the key after you replaced the ignition switch? @its_a_metal_thing
