I'm 67 and still go to the gym 6 days a week . I did break my leg on April 1 st but once I recovered back to the gym. I've recently had a kidney removed due to a malignant tumour. Although I can't go back to the gym till Jan ,I still go for long walks. I've always thought as I got older yes I'm not a teenager anymore nor do I wish to be . However I am not going to vegetate or spend all my time in the bar. I still travel a lot and at the moment I am recovering in London before I fly " home to Bangkok ". I agree with what you say in this vblog.
A very concise straightforward commentary about self improvement. All of it true. The most important of which was the recommendation to start now. It is your future and it is up to you to make the effort.
Changing your personal style can be tricky when you are in a long-term relationship. For many years, my wife and I both embraced a pretty no-nonsense, comfort-forward style - think T-shirts, jeans and hoodies except for dressier occasions. Now that I’m embracing things like chinos, loafers, polos and OCBDs, I think she’s a little weirded out by it, lol. She wonders why I’m dressing for a work conference when I work from home. I can understand the confusion, but the more you dress like this, the more they will get used to it and just see it as how you are
Absolutely true! Another reason is simply doing it just for yourself, to feel better about yourself. And also improving your appearance for her benefit. Keep that spark alive!
I'm 6'5" 220lbs..and have been wearing XXL shirts for years. BIG mistake. Since watching your videos, I'm starting to change the fit of my clothes..not too big...not too small. Getting lots of compliments....my shoe collection is growing fast as well. Also purged a large contractor bag full of old clothes.. Thanks John...how about a winter boot/shoe video
Been strength training for almost 20 years now. I've been working with a trainer consistently now for nearly 3 years. Been the best move I've made in a long time. I'm in the best shape of my life. Recommend getting a trainer just to help a newbie get started. Need to get a good warm-up and use good form. Make the lighter weights work for you, You'll need to protect your joints. Definitely get your steps in, but don't ignore a good conditioning routine either. I go 30-40 minutes at a clip and my conditioning quite high. Getting into shape is great for your health and is the best style more an older man can make.
I’m reading a book called Atomic Habits, and it actually steers you away from goals and toward establishing long lasting habits, which, the book argues, is a more sustainable approach. With goals, you set it, you reach it, you celebrate, and then sometimes you let things slide again. by changing your daily habits around the kind of person you want to be, you basically create a system that just always works. Anyway, highly recommend the book
Great message, John! Btw, are you doing something different with your hair? Also, I feel like you're a lot more fit than the last time I have seen you on here. Def looking good, my guy
I would add dont diet. Diet implies a length of time with an end and back to eating crap. Do lifestyle eating changes that let you hit and maintain your goals
Ha! Not ‘every’ video :) I enjoy their products, and I’m lucky enough to have them sponsor a few videos a year. Also consider that the ad read is only a small part of the overall 10 minute long video.

The hardest part of everything is starting but once you find your rhythm no one can stop you.
Absolutely!
Great advice thank you
I’m 43, going back to university to start a career in teaching ✊

My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
Quote in my mind:
You can't change your friends, but you can CHANGE your friends.
Great point!

Yes, shorter haircuts these days, and hitting the gym on a regular basis.
@40OverFashion Nice! It's all def working for you. The hair especially is on point 🙂
Don’t worry about your lift weight. Everyone, including huge weight lifters, all max out somewhere. Just keep doing it.
Great point!

Well said!
John every video now is just a Tiege Hanley commercial.

Physical fitness? Strength training? I think your channel's about to be flagged for hate speech.
Ha! It’s all about spreading positivity and motivation.
@40OverFashion yeah, but for some strange reason progressive liberals identify that with right wing extremism.
