      Lisbon is definitely a very beautiful city!

    • @luismarques9280
      @luismarques9280 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ...and there's a reason for that, Lisbon is way more beautiful than Barcelona, way more....but Barcelona is more Popular and has more bigger, popular sites like the Sagrada Familia.

    • @GIFPES
      @GIFPES 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Also, Barcelona is more cosmopolitan, there are lots of tourists, is an international place. Lisboa is underrated because is much more beautiful, much older, much more interesting, and as a plus, there are not that crowdy amount of tourists, so you can feel the atmosphere, the portuguese way of life. It would be the same difference between been in LA and Laguna Beach, and Lisboa is like Laguna Beach, a historycal and artistical place, and Barcelona is like LA, a bigger and more international metropolis.

    Hi Sacha... I love your passion for Portugal and the Portuguese language. You are truly an embassador for everything that relates to Portugal and the other proud lusophone countries like Brasil or Cabo Verde.
    Your videos are great and I have shared them with family and friends. THEY ALL FALL IN LOVE WITH YOU!
    With regards to the comparisons between Lisboa and Barcelona, I truly love the ending of your video. It seems like you left your heart in Lisboa... and I don’t blame you. There’s something magical about that amazing City by the Tejo River that is hard to explain.
    Sasha... you are awesome! You are truly one of a kind. Camões is in heaven enjoying each of your videos and hoping that you return to Portugal soon. Parabéns e muito obrigado!

      Thanks so much for your nice comment, sejam todos vocês bem-vindos ao canal! I definitely really feel like Portugal is the place I most strongly connect with out of all of the places I've lived, so for a while now I've decided to make something productive out of that with my videos! I appreciate that you're sharing them, there's more to come soon!

    Thumb up. I have to make a decision tonight between 3 days in Lisbon or Barcelona. I will be visiting in January, between a week in London and a week in Paris. I gave up on Central Europe because I wanted someplace a little warmer. I can save Amsterdam and Prague for another time. (Also had been thinking of Budapest)

      Sacha That is very true but I grew up in NJ where I’m living currently again. I loved CO and am still in contact with my friends from out there but there is no place like home. If I could I’d move all my favorite places next to one another. lol

    Vem fazer uma visita à cidade do Porto, não consegues tudo o que precisas quando se fala de compras, mas é um bom sítio de se visitar, e agora muito a sério tens de provar FRANCESINHA à moda do Porto, é a minha comida favorita, por isso recomendo.

    Amei Barcelona quando estive. Adoro o arrojo, a beleza e a diversidade da arquitetura de Barcelona. Foi a cidade que mais me encantou na Europa. Adorei Portugal tb , especialmente Sintra que é encantadora.

      Para se viver, Barcelona e Lisboa são difíceis a ultrapassar na Europa! Barcelona é uma cidade muito fácil para se adaptar e fazer o que bem apetecer com a vida. Escolher entre as duas realmente não é fácil!

    Sacha estou curioso para saber sua opinião dessa onda separatista aí em Barcelona. Você poderia fazer um vídeo da sua visão como estrangeiro de toda essa situação?

    • @SachaDoesPortuguese
      @SachaDoesPortuguese  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Então, não sei se aqui no canal vou fazer um vídeo a respeito (assuntos políticos são algo fora da minha área do canal), mas posso dizer que é um velho problema com tensões surgidas nos últimos anos por causa de oportunismo político. Enquanto estrangeiro em Barcelona, vive-se com plena normalidade-o assunto não entra demasiado no quotidiano, a não ser que haja alguma manifestação/greve que bloqueie tudo!

    And could you believe that there’s a bunch of Spanish that think we’re culturally similar to them hahaha obviously those ones who have never been to Portugal, I do feel a deep cultural difference between the two countries... Americans usually prefer Portugal because there’s a culture way more similar to Northern Europe than any other country in the south, maybe northern Italy, but they don’t have the same amazing Lisbonner weather

    Olá Sacha, I've been watching and enjoying your videos. The subtitles are useful for my Portuguese and you are very entertaining. Thank you. I myself am from the UK, living in Lisbon for 5 years! Do you feel better off financially living in Barcelona, as I know that jobs generally pay more there? Or do you feel that the higher cost of living generally balances things out? I am thinking of maybe moving to Madrid.

    • @SachaDoesPortuguese
      @SachaDoesPortuguese  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, welcome to my channel! I'm glad my videos are helpful and entertaining for you. 5 years is a while to be living in Lisbon! I would say that the cost of living in Barcelona isn't dramatically higher than in Lisbon, so on a material level, I feel like Barcelona has more to offer. Madrid, however, is more expensive than Barcelona. My dollars stretch basically as far in BCN as they do in LX, as a result. As for working, the main difference I've noticed is that there are more opportunities available to do work in the areas that I do in Barcelona than in Lisbon, so that's been the more decisive factor in me staying here versus returning to Lisbon. I think there's a lot to be said for all of these cities, so whichever you choose will inevitably be a nice option!

    Hi, tanks for video. It's interesting to ear independent opinion about Lisbon vs Barcelona. However, the metropolitan Lisboa (2,821,876 people) and metropolitan Barcelona (3 239 337 people). Barcelona it's more concentrated.

    • @SachaDoesPortuguese
      @SachaDoesPortuguese  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      While there is truth to that, the metropolitan areas that you're using as references are not perfectly symmetrical-far-flung cities like Setúbal are grouped with Lisbon in the Área Metropolitana de Lisboa and cities adjacent to Barcelona like Sabadell are not part of the Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona. According to Eurostat, Barcelona's metropolitan region has 5,474,482 to Lisbon's 2,821,349 people. Welcome to my channel!

    • @Europe1500Brasil
      @Europe1500Brasil 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sacha Catalunha has less people then Portugal. Catalunha it's only metropolitan Barcelona?!. I didn't now. But it's not important.

    Mas, em Barcelona fala-se catalão, que é diferente, é quase um espanhol com mesclas de francês e pronúncia do português. Para os lusófonos é mais difícil entender que castelhano, leonês, etc....e, nem falo do galego, que é uma versão antiga do nosso português. Claro, o castelhano é a língua franca, na Espanha, daí a vantagem de Portugal, é um país de um único idioma!

    • @SachaDoesPortuguese
      @SachaDoesPortuguese  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Na verdade, a questão linguística não é o factor mais importante para mim, tendo em conta que já me adaptei mais do que o suficiente ao catalão e o espanhol! Mas com certeza tem o efeito de diluir o uso de um ou o outro, dependendo do contexto.

      +Nuno Alexandre Pinto Em termos de população, Barcelona é maior com 5,4 milhões de pessoas na área metropolitana, enquanto a Grande Lisboa tem 2,8. Já agora, obrigado, espero que continues a gostar dos vídeos :)

      Em termos de pessoas sim, mas em termos de tamanho da cidade em si (sem contar com a area metropolitana) ambas tem os mesmos metros quadrados. Obrigado pela resposta e continua a postar videos. Parabens!

      Então Lisboa é menos densamente povoada....isso é mais qualidade de vida. Ademais, Lisboa tem invernos mais frios, pois se depara com o oceano Atlântico, enquanto Barcelona recebe os cálidos ventos do norte africano, estando mais para dentro do mar Mediterrâneo. Enfim, a Ibéria é linda!!!! Portugal, Espanha, absurdos de belos! A vantagem de PT é ser um país mais homogênio, em idioma e cultura, enquanto a Espanha é uma abstração, com diversos povos amarrados ao governo central de Madrid. Quero dizer, nesse sentido, que vc pode aprender muito sobre PT, sem ter de ter total vivência, em cada canto do país, mas, na Espanha, fica difícil aprender a língua asturiana, e seus hábitos, estando no lado oposto do país, por exemplo.
