If a video showcasing over 752 designs is almost 7 hours then imagine how long it will be explaining them all I think we’ll all be along for the ride though
You may have missed some meaning with one of the ooblets! At 5:57 Wurlitzer was a company that started making musical instruments in 1853 and were famous for their organs, jukeboxes, and player pianos. Normally I wouldn't have made the connection but they literally named one of the other ooblets after Moog so it seems very likely this was a reference as well.
I still remember the way the devs responded to people calling them out for betraying the Kickstarter. In case people forgot, they initially raised past their said goal on Kickstarter and promised to release on multiple platforms, Steam included. Aw that fuckin' sucks ass. It didn't look all that great, but the 'mons were kinda cute and the concept was interesting. But that just sucks all the joy outta it.
Oh! They use blue in the Firmo Gleamy form because Firmo can only see in monochrome, colourblind! Therefore they use the colourblind friendly traffic light colour.
In school, there was this game Math Bingo we were allowed to play if we had free time in math class. You get what's on the can. It's a simple math game for children to play in school, but you collected little critters called BingoBugs every time you got a bingo. There was a little game mode called BingoBug Jar, where by clicking on the jar you shook it, and you got to hear twenty little BingoBug voices all scream out in fear. This just reminded me of that.
I'm never going to get over the fact that people voted a rotting corpse of an animal as the ugliest animal. Like no freaking duh the riding corpse would be the ugliest.
Thank you! This is legitimately one of my favorite games of all time and I have way too many hours in this game (a good chunk of it in load times) and my top 5 have got to be 1.Shrumbo, 2.Xanaboo, 3.Glanter, 4.Plob, and 5.Legsy. P.S- Shrumbo and Legsy are REALLY strong in dance battles.
Definitely Digimon you should look over next. I'd say Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth is probably one of the easier games to get into if you haven't played any of the games yet.
I think a video on, say, the first couple years' worth of Digimon would be neat. The list of 'em is only ever going to keep expanding, so if you were ever going to cover 'em, going chronologically would be the best way to ensure old videos aren't obsoleted.
I used to play this game aLOT a while ago, but I stopped because, for some reason, it kept getting rid of some of the saved data. Nice to see it get the attention it deserves
Thanks on sharing these fun factoids on ooblets lockslin. I have owned this game for awhile but never knew what it was about except monster catching music battle game. Now that I learned many lore of the obblings and seen them up close thanks to this video. I plan on giving the game a actual try now.
Please do Digimon! I know there are digi's like Dogmon, Gatomon, Knightmon, ect. But there are some which aren't as simple. For example, Agumon's name comes from the Japanese onomatopoeia for biting (アグアグ) aguagu Greymon isn't because Greymon is grey. In fact it refers to grey as ancient. So a dinosaur, an ancient creature. Gabumon's name comes from Japanese Kabuki theatre, specifically a puppet called Gabu Kashira. Its face goes from timid to devilish by pulling a string. Gabumon wears a pelt with the data of Garurumon (Who's name comes from the onomatopoeia for growling: グルル). They tend to be really timid without their pelts, and seem to hate showing themselves without one. There are usually a ton of dub mistakes (such as Algomon-Argomon and Diablomon-Diaboromon) or just name changes (Omegamon-Omnimon and Tailmon-Gatomon). I think the series roots are interesting too! Digimon started as virtual pets. Made by Bandai, the creators of Tamagotchi, they called them Digital Monsters to cater this vpet more to boys, and later shortened it to Digimon. The vpets and overall series happened to come out a little after Pokemon did, which is probably why everyone conflated the two. Please give Digimon a chance!
How about an oddball choice for a creature collector game? Shin Megami Tensei. Whether we are talking about the mainline games or any of its spinoffs (and not just Persona), the monster selection in those games tend to be pretty consistent so it should be relatively easy. Although...I do have to warn about that ONE demon. The one named Mara who is very...demonitizable looking. That is all I will say. If you go for SMT, you might wanna censor the look of that one.
while I dunno if it could be classified as a monster catching game, I would love to see all Sushi Sprites in Sushi Strikers explained! Anyone else remember that game?
I feel like the monsters of Skannerz would be a fun & nostalgic deep dive 😊 Hopefully I'm not alone in remembering these barcode scanning monster battlers!
Spectrobes would be a cool collection of creatures to go over The designs are very cool, most of the time There is still a small but dedicated fandom despite the last game coming out in 2009
You need tô make a vídeo about bagmon when It comes out, its a oficial Brazilian game based of pokémon Full of things from the Brazilian culture and folklore
You might not read this Lockstin, but I think you should cover the monster hunter, creature collector, single player JRPG game franchise called "Pokémon" some time! It's really old now so there's lots to cover, but you might be busy covering other things. I mean I have heard there's a lot of thought behind the design of the individual pokémon!
9:09 That is still a thing, but it’s just the nervous center doing work, it’s not the same as being physically alive, but there was one instance of a Chicken living. In the 1946 on a Colorado was Mike The Chicken and until he lost his head and became Mike the Headless Chicken. The reason he lived was due to his time under the axe leaving his brain stem intact and luckily or developing a blood clot in his jugular vein around the same time. Since apparently a lot of the main bodily functions for chickens are processed by the brain stem. He was still able to breathe and his heart to beat and pump blood, and the clot kept him from bleeding to death. He was alive. Able to walk and perch, and try to do all the things a normal rooster would do if clumsily. Unfortunately though with no head he wasn’t able to eat properly so he was fed with an eye dropper into his stump, by his owners, Clara and Lloyd Olsen, after they saw Mike refused to die they decided to take care of him. Mike was even a national side show celebrity after Clara and Lloyd took him on tour, thankful for the chance to make money since they were struggling financially. Mike was featured in Times and Life Magazine. Mike sadly died on tour while the Olsens were stopping in a hotel in Phoenix Arizona, choking on mucus in the middle of the night of March 17th, 1947. His legacy lives on in Fruita Colorado with every third weekend in May being dubbed “Mike the headless chicken day” since 1999.
