- Among several political races this fall, Montana voters will have to select the candidate to fill one of our two seats in the U.S. Senate for the next 6-year term. Incumbent Senator Jon Tester (D) is being challenged by Tim Sheehy (R). Through this hour-long production, recorded live on Sunday, June 9, 2024, both candidates will have a platform to debate the issues important to Montanans, through a variety of questions posed by a select panel of four journalists from across Montana. Produced by the Montana Broadcasters Association, and funded, in part, by the Greater Montana Foundation.

This is one of the best debates I’ve seen in the last few election cycles. Both candidates really focused on the issues, and stayed away from personal insults and political dogwhistles.
This debate was done exceptionally well. I am also pleased that both candidates were respectful to one another and adressed the issues and didn't play "the game."
Regardless of your personal opinions about both candidates, you can't deny that this is how debates should be conducted and that both Tester and Sheehy were respectful towards one another.

He sounded like a guest speaker….from out of state. He was a “fast talker” which came off like a used car salesman trying to sell something but, l did not get a genuine feeling. Where’s the “authenticity”?
Tim went to every county in the state, gave out his personal number, I haven’t ever seen tester in my county. I had to reach out to him regarding a huge issues that thousands of people were at risk, and didn’t get so much as an email back. For me there is no question as to who is here for the people of the state.

No matter who wins this race, I'm so proud of Montana for voting Tester in to begin with. He is one of the best senators in the country. We should be proud. I am. He at least tries to work with both sides. It's a shame so many flipped because someone said he was the enemy. It's shameful we're once again back to voting only within ones party.

Tester missed two congressional meetings day one didn’t show up day two didn’t show up on day two was voting for Montana’s economy. We pay him to be in these meetings and vote. We did not get a vote in that meeting because John tester did not show up.

It is not the people coming to Montana that are making Montana housing unaffordable. It is Montana property owners that are listing their property for huge amounts, hoping for a huge payday. I don't blame them, we all hope to profit from our real estate. Just because people wanting to move to the wonderful state of Montana are able and willing to pay those huge prices, does not make them the bad guy. Blame the ranch owner who inherited his land, and peels off a few acres that are not farmable, or good for grazing, and lists them for a ridiculously high price. Montana needs to remain the conservative, God loving state that has made it the BEST STATE in the UNION.

If you’ve been following the Border at all you would know that There was a 20 Billion dollar Bi-Partisan Funding bill put together by a Conservative Republican Senator that was passed and ready to go to the House for ratification and Trump told Mike Johnson not to allow it on the floor for a vote because it would “give Biden conformity 2024 election”. So Trump tanked it, when it would have funded more border security, more judges, and better technology to detect illegal drugs being smuggled at border crossings. The Wanna-President told the House Leadership to tank the Bill that the Senate Republicans and Democrats had worked together to pass.
Conservatives simply believe abortion rights should be decided by voters at the state level. That is exactly what Trump has been saying for years. Nothing more, nothing less. Voters in Montana may not agree with voters in California, or elsewhere on abortion rights. This issue should not be a federally mandated issue. It should be voted on, and decided by the people who live in each individual state. Less federal control, more state control. What in the hell is wrong with that?

Tester, "I get things done". He bragged about the Infrastructure bill. What has been accomplished? Where did the money go? What else was in that bill that had nothing to do with infrastructure?
