The number one thing that people from Texas say they miss! Thanks for watching, let me know if you need help with anything or have questions as you think about it.
I am actually moving to my new place in Minneapolis this January. So, apparently the universe made this pop up in my algorithm for a reason 😂. I am relocating from Houston, TX to Minnesota. I have always wanted to lesve Texas ever since i was a teenager. So i zeroed in on everything I'd want in a new destination and Minnesota ticked all of my boxes. This is my first big move and will be my last one. So i am expecting to love my new home 😊. I am looking forward to the big winters. I want to see the seasons change. I cannot take the regular occuring natural disasters that are ubiquitous in Houston anymore.
Congratulations and welcome! Let me know if you have questions or need anything as you make your move. You’re not alone- this playlist has a few groups that came up from Texas
Man this video speaks to me haha! We're from San Antonio and we absolutely cannot wait to move up to the Minneapolis area next summer. Texas has two things BIG things I look forward to leaving behind: year round boiling temperatures and conservative politics. We LOVE IT up in Minneapolis (dont'cha know?)!
I love to hear this - I have a lot of happy Texans up here now! Let me know if you have questions as you think about moving I'm happy to help! And welcome to MN in advance. :) (thank you for watching!)
hey there! I am also from San Antonio and moving to Minneapolis in August! Did you all end up making the move yet? I am leaving SA for the same exact reasons!
@@LostinMinnesota Oh that’s great news for y’all! Unfortunately we’re still stuck here. The thriving job market is not affecting my wife’s job search unfortunately. We’ll keep looking of course.
@@phatrob3723 dang ! I am sorry to hear that. I hope that situation turns around for you all because I think it would be a great move for your family. And thank you! I am quite excited!
Susanna Texas(Lady) expression can meet the people who have challenges making the decision to leave their state for Minnesota, even though the decision that Susanna made is very difficult, because Texas is much cheaper than Minnesota in terms of taxes, and also in terms of weather too !! Minnesota's winter is very harsh, spring and summer is heaven on earth, as well as its fall. I am from Kuwait, the atmosphere of Kuwait is very close to Texas and Arizona, I lived in Minnesota during my studies for 4 years and I still frequent Minnesota to this day as a tourist and I will be honest with you that I adore Minnesota and its good, tolerant and good people, but winter was a challenge for me, but I prepared it for it with The passing of the years. It is no secret that I am thinking of buying an apartment or townhouse in Minnesota to sit in during the holidays for recreation and rest. Thank you Mary Schumann for this beautiful and exciting interview with Mrs. Al- Susana. Greetings to all of you. I wish you a beautiful and enjoyable summer. Youssef from Kuwait
I'm going to speak for Susanna here - I hear these comments often from her and a few others that have moved from TX, that they finally get to enjoy summer. :) thank you for watching!
We don't miss the Texas summers!!!! In fact, this and last summer are the first times in decades that we could be outside in the summer...and the first summer for our daughter. It's amazing!!!
Thanks for interviewing me Mary! I wanted to add that the whole Austin area did have more than just our family and friends, and is an amazing place in it's own right. It was just time for us to move on and we are thrilled that we are here now! Thanks soooo much!
I really enjoyed your interview. Listening to the actual people who have relocated from other states and survived, gives me the confidence that I can do it too! 😊
I feel like the video was made for me!!! I was born in Wisconsin but I’ve been in Texas for the last 15 years & I am debating about returning Midwest to Minnesota this time!! 🥶
I’m moving to St Paul from out of state for work soon, and one thing I’ve realized while watching various TH-cam videos on moving to MN that you need to be careful about forming first impressions from the first few videos you see. TH-cam seems to love promoting content that bashes on whatever the topic of the video is, and titles like “top 10 things I HATE these things about (insert whatever thing here)” seem to garner the most attention. I’m quite excited about my move- although the actual moving process sucks lol.
Those kinds of thumbnails / titles get clicks. TH-cam likes clicks. I think MN is pretty great compared to the other places I’ve lived so far. Is it for everyone? Nope. But lots of people love it here. Welcome! Let me know if you need help finding a home. 😊
@@MarySchumann yes, I agree- TH-cam thrives on sensationalism for sure. That’s pretty much every kind of media at this point… I’ve lived in WA state for a few years, so hopefully I’ll have SOME tolerance to the cold haha- although with my background of having grown up in tropical weather, maybe not… 😅 I’ve been stuffing myself with ice cream and inducing brain freezes to toughen up against low temps hehe
You mentioned authentic Mexican food...my husband is from Texas and is feeling really sad about the state of authentic Mexican food since we moved here last summer. We live in the Southwest Metro, but I'm guessing that we need to get into the city more often. Please share your Mexican food recommendations. And Tex-Mex related, what's with the fajitas here? They're not like anything we've ever seen before :)
Hi! Check Eater.com for a recent article about the best TexMex in the twin cities. I e eaten at several they mentioned- one near my area that is a little more foo foo but delicious is Colita. There is another one that is a Mexican market and restaurant on Nicollet right across from the Menards in Bloomington (?). Worth checking that site for places to try though!
Hello I moved from California to Dallas and I hate it so much!! We moved 2 months ago to Austin and I don’t like it at all . We have commercial properties in Minnesota and I have been talking to my husband to move to Minnesota. I would love to connect with you 🙏 I am a realtor here in Austin
I'm a Dallasite looking to move to MN in the next year. I cannot wait to move! I've lived all over, even overseas. Its time to move from here. Im more interested in finding the best city for us. Preferably away from big cities , mostly good neighborhoods where I could get away from the crime eceryone is warning me about with Minneapolis. I had looked at St. Paul but I want a safe neighborhood thats not close to downtown. Could you help me with that?
We also moved to MN from Texas. While it’s true that Texas does not have a state income tax, property taxes are sky high. Schools, parks, libraries, and museums are woefully underfunded. We are so happy to now be in a state that supports education and the arts.
It's interesting that she left Texas & moved to Minnesota for more progressive politics. Many are moving away from Minnesota & moving to Texas for the exact same reason: Minnesota has progressive politics., i.e. Ilhan Omar et al.
Lots and lots of people prefer more progressive policies- otherwise the the politicians that we have would not be elected. Not everyone thinks the same way or values the same things.
Yeah, exactly not a good idea to go to Mexico for a week as you said, drugs, cartels, gangs, kidnapping I rather to go to Thailand or Florida instants 😊
