Same comes to sims, I have almost finished makeovering all the households including NPCs popped in my save file, so when I start new saves there will be nice looking and dressed sims
I once made a "Wedding" holiday because my sims didn't have enough money to throw an actual wedding. It included romantic spirit, drinking, festive spirit, and celebrating with friends.
Somehow it feels like all the holidays I hate get added to the calendar spontaneously the day of so there's no chance to cancel them. "Hey, it's Prank Day!" "Hey it's Community Brawl day!" Great, now my Sims will be devastated they didn't completely wreck their relationships!
For my holidays, I do two week seasons. In summer I have 5 days of summer break, with one day being a bbq + water fun day. In fall I have the Super Bowl (watch sports tv and drink), then thanksgiving, then Halloween, then Remembrance Day. For winter I have Xmas Eve, Xmas, then Boxing Day. And a week later I have New Year’s Eve then New Year’s Day. For spring I have Valentine’s Day and Easter. Lots of holidays, but by having two week seasons it doesn’t feel too cluttered and is actually really fun!
I do 2 weeks too. 3 weeks is definitely too long if you want to keep your sims on regular lifespan, but 1 week feels too short. Plus I like having my sims garden and having the plants for only a week is way too short. You wait 3-4 days for the plants to grow and then you only have plants for barely 3 days
I can't believe I never even thought about calender this way. I'm so getting those mods and making my own holidays now! Thanks for the inspiration satch.
I created a Japanese family for Mt Komerebi a couple of years ago and did some TH-cam research on Japanese holidays and made some fake ones for my Sims like Shogatsu - I had them clean, and walk to the shrine and eat holiday food. I wish they would have some cultural holidays in base game like Cinqo de Mayo, Chinese New Year, etc or even Boxing Day for the UK. I usually create Easter, Halloween, 4th of July and a summer vacation for my Sims
I make a holiday where my sims celebrate how awesome i am! it involves whatever traditions i feel like adding in the moment. usually ridiculous ones, though.😜
Smth I like to do is add a religious holiday, because despite being an atheist myself, I still find fictional religions to be fascinating and fun to play with, and what I do especifically is add a "Watcher's creation day" (the whole "Watcher" thing is based on the religion from Sims Medieval), which I add the first day of summer, since that's usually my starting season, this holiday also works really well with the "Rambunctious Religions" mod.
I call my summer holiday “Summer Fun Day” and since I’m American, I recreate July 4th and I have them do fireworks, travel, bbq, water activities. The day after harvest fest, I make a Super Bowl holiday where they watch sports, drink, and air grievances And for Easter I do attend holiday ceremonies, remembrance, cleaning and gardening
I personally have 4 weeks seasons (but play rotationally and cheat so I always have the same seasons through a round of rotation). I use holidays to really change up the gameplay! I personally created holidays based on events I attended I liked in my life: national holiday is a thing in most countries (well I guess it’s the simdependance day), I also have a day dedicated to celebrate music (during summer), a games day (a holiday more for children, that I lake happen twice a year), spring cleaning and neighborlyspirit. Also I check the calendar at every beginning of the week to cancel surprise holidays I hate, such as neihborhood brawl. 😬
I play rotationally and have been tempted to manually cheat the season but have been a little nervous to try in case it causes issues in my save. Could I ask how it's been working for you?
@@SamJones-qx9hz So I usually have to cheat seasons twice per round and I had no problem with it for now! As I play with aging on (for active played household only usually and one week per round also includes the non played households), I can tell it does not mess up the aging either. I play with lots of mods and I use UI Cheats to change season. And for even more info, the day I rotate is monday around 10pm in game. When changing it just comes back to the beginning of the season and I’ll eventually miss the first two days of the season (first sunday and first monday), but I don’t have any holiday planned on those days so I don’t miss holidays.
@@MirificentJoy Thank you! I'll give this a go. One thing I really enjoyed about the sims 2 was that the seasons didn't progress as I rotated through my families.
As a Russian I usually swap xmas and new year, as we celebrate it in my country, deleting thanksgiving and add one or two extra May holidays:) holidays customization is surprisingly solid in this game
This is why I do the 2 week seasons, repeating holidays every 4 weeks is just way too crazy! Love your idea of having them decorate the week before Christmas on a different holiday, im gonna do that!
I would absolutely love it if when you plan an event or vacation, you can see what the weather will be like in that location. It sucks when you plan a camping trip and the entire time it is thunder storming
Independence Day in the US is mainly about fire works displays, grilling food, etc. No one ever mentions the British or the war for Independence in casual settings.
I like to use Sims 3's Leisure Day in my saves as the stand-in for "Simdependence Day" and put in fireworks, barbecue, drinking, and water fun as the traditions. In the history/decades challenges I've also seen suggestions for "appreciate an object" for people to use it on a flag, but that's not really my thing in game as I view it as a sim world and not ours. I also agree on the Flower Bunny and egg hunt traditions being so much fun. I always include them in a holiday called Spring Celebration. Fun fact, if you have Cottage Living and chickens on the lot, you will find the colored eggs the chickens lay instead of the collectible eggs. You can get rare eggs from the expansion this way!
I usually extend my calendar for 2 weeks per season and rearrange all the holidays, Valentines day is in the Winter and I make Pride a holiday with Streaking, water fun, Romantic spirit, and Music and Art celebration, and have tried to make (will try again) a Pride festival lot with stalls
@jadedjhypsi I'm on ps5 so I can't mod😅 I have a playthrough with no cheats and one with cheats so the one with cheats is easier coz can just cheat to make them happy again
I don’t usually do custom holidays, but Festivus is a great anti-Christmas holiday option (if that makes sense for your sim). That’s where the “air grievances” activity comes from. I thought it was from Seinfeld, but it just popularized by it
You read my mind!! I was just thinking about overhauling my Sims calender today! I play on long lifespan and have each season set to 2 weeks so I have room for more holidays 😊
For the «Water fun», you can use the water balloon buckets and have a water balloon fight. You can also have a kiddy pool in a Sim's inventory, and it'll work even for the adults who can just relax or take a nap in it. I always play with longer seasons. 28 days seasons.
6:19 huh, i’m british and when i was in school we had like 2 weeks off for christmas! we would break up around the 20th december and come back at the start of january
I also do winterfest/christmas eve and winterfest/christmas for the same reason. Father winter (santa) does not come on christmas day. I also add a baking holiday a few days before winterfest to bake christmas cookies
I only have a sim month set to one week & the festivals I put on my calendar are as follows; Spring; New Years Day[Sun/day off] & Easter[Wed] Summer; Summer Break [Mon-Fri/day off but I sent adults to work using "Go to Work"] Fall; Thanksgiving [Thurs/Day off], Halloween [Sat] Winter; Christmas Eve[Thurs/Day off], Winter Break [Fri/Day off], New Years Eve[Sat/Day off]
Remembrance Day is a VERY important holiday in Canada. An American company once got in HUGE (social) trouble for forbidding their employees from wearing the remembrance poppy because they saw it as "too political."
If I owned Seasons, I would usually make my seasons 4 weeks long, and I would make every premade holiday a day off. I would also add the following holidays: Simdependence Day (summer) - Commemorates Independence Day in the US (baking, drinking, grilling, fireworks, water fun, day off from work and school) Spooky Day (fall) - Combines both Day of the Dead and Halloween (decorate, spooky spirit, wear costumes, remembrance, invite guests, not a day off from work or school) SimBowl (winter) - Based off of Super Bowl Sunday (polar bear plunge, sports tv, grilling, party spirit, exercise, day off from work only) Easter (spring) - Based off of Easter/Passover (flower bunny, egg hunt, grand meal, attend holiday ceremony, invite guests, day off from work and school) Day of Mourning (spring) - Based off Memorial Day (attend holiday ceremony, remembrance, tell stories, grilling, water fun, day off from work and school) I would also edit Love Day to involve the Flower Bunny and romantic television, as well as a day off from school. Sports television would be added to harvestfest, and inviting guests would be added to New Year's Eve.
I usually start with everything BUT summer in Sims (though mostly fall or winter), as I find summer the most boring season in Sims games (all of them, not just Sims 4). However, in Sims 4, with some added holidays, summer can be pretty fun. And it's nice to see that I am not the only one who play with the default 7 days seasons. It is quite limiting, but it also fits best with the lifespan I have (customised through MCCC), so, that way, every age, with the exception of babies and infants, will experience whole Sim year at least once per their life stage. Though I still wish we had possibility to set seasons to less then 7 days, or anything that's not multiplication of 7, so seasons are not always on the same day, but whatever. You deal with what you have. I personally prefer to have Christmas at the beginning of winter, because, well, Christmas were build on pagan's winter solstice holidays. So, I am putting them on the second day of winter and New Year's Eve two days after Christmas. Then, I put Valentine Day to the end of winter, because February is still winter, not spring. Similarly to Christmas, I put Easter at the beginning of spring, because Easter are, among other things, celebration of the incoming of spring. I usually put them on Monday, because here on Czechia, we have Easter Monday after Easter Friday and Sunday, but with the 7-days cycle I don't want my calendar too cluttered, so, I put all the traditions in one day. Then I am putting First of May holiday in second half of spring. It's a holiday celebrated by a lot of Cetral European countries, though the traditions vary country by country and even region by region. Here in Czechia, it was misused by Communists as a celebration of their success with opulent parades, but of course I am keeping those things out of my game and making more traditional First of May, which is more about love, Maypoles and bonfires (though those are more related to the night before that day, but whatever, no cluttering again). Sadly, we don't have Maypole in Sims 4 and didn't find any mod for that, so, I need to keep that out. So, my Sims version of this holiday is like romance, bonfires and, well, gardening, because why not doing some of that in spring, right? As for summer, well, I am putting something like Fourth of July, but not exactly. My version is more like celebrating summer, with BBQs, water fun, fireworks and, of course, streaking, because, why not (or even better, embracing nudity with WW 😁) Then I put vacationing somewhere in the middle of summer, which is, of course, about travelling (and Satch gave me some interesting tips about how to spice that day, so, thank you, Satch). Then, I am putting End of Summer day on the last day of summer, which is bonfires, telling stories, last summer water fun and, once again, streaking (or nudity with WW). For fall, I am making Halloween and then Dušičky (yes, Czech holiday again), or All Saints Day at the next day. It's the only holiday cluttering in my game, but I don't feel like putting them together at the same day, as Halloween is more about fun and Dušičky are more sombre and about remembrance. So, that's why it's better for me to keep them separate. I am keeping the premade Harvestfest, because I quite like it, though I am also adding gardening to the tradition, because, well, harvesting, of course 😁And that's pretty much it for me. I am, admittedly, not creating the same holidays all the time, I also like to twist things depending on the family I play with and such, but mostly this is it for me.
We have Liberation Day on May 9th because that's when the Islands were liberated at the end off WW2, I think I'll make that in to a holiday for my Sims
As an American I wanted to do a 4th of July, but I went with Summer Celebrations on the first day of Summer. It involves BBQ, Fireworks, Water Fun and Drinking. I'd add decorations, but can't find one I'd like to use.
I add Midsummer and Summer Holiday, which is 2 days off for both adults and children as adults have 4 weeks off here in summer. While I don't celebrate Halloween I still add it because it's fun in the game, but it's a shame we can't trick or treat ourselves though gameplay wise I think it'd just be loading screens or simply sending them off anyways. I also add Easter
This whole community cracks me up. 😂 We may not be very original but apparently we are very clever! Now what I'm super curious about is; has anyone else done "Simco DeMayo" for Cinco deMayo?
no, growing up we put the christmas decorations near christmas. and then take them out in january. they didn't stay up for more than a couple weeks. a whole month of christmas decor is too much. it's already bad enough stores start putting up christmas stuff in november. wait until the 15th
I like the summer ingame, thats why I changed the summertime every year to 28 days and every other season to 7 days. 😂 It would be so much better, if you could change the lenght of every season individually.
Easter IS in the base holidays - it's just like Christmas though, and has a stupid Simified name, and it's just about flowers and the flower bunny and finding eggs. So you just made the same holiday, and took out the flower bits (and I think those are part of the other to make it more about spring, since not everyone celebrated the Christian holiday of Easter). At any rate, the only holiday you need is Grilled Cheese day!
Not I. I always start my game off in the spring so I can start my garden. I think holidays are annoying asf in Sims4. Wish I could disable them all in my game.
Can you turn off weather deaths in settings same as turning off emotional deaths? I keep emotional deaths on but sims always dieing bc of the wrong outfit would annoy me
Hii can you recommend fun or unique community lots no cc by creators using minimal packs for another video. My game is kinda dry from just restaurants and bars etc
I can handle the holidays but I can’t stand the high school events. The sound that it makes every Thursday at 5pm kills me.. scares me to death really!
This is such a sinple idea but great. I am perpetually annoyed by the fact it has you decorate on Christmas when I already have the decorations up. Also just why brawl day, like seriously.
I’ve had EA but for the past 2 weeks if I launch while in online mode it takes like 30+ minutes to start up, offline mode takes like 2 ☹️ idk if that’s what you mean but yea I think it’s the EA app

For highschool years I hate that they have prom every week. That makes absolutely no sense to me, why would they celebrate that every month when in highschool you do it once a year.
I like to add a holiday the day before summer called "sexy for summer" where sims just excercise once.

Literally thought I invented the name "Simdependence Day", turns out I did not... 😮🤣
Omg same, I was so proud of myself thinking of that 😂😂😂
@@justcarrie89 Same, I'm like; "look at me, I'm so creative". 🤦🏼♀️
I'm gonna use this now,im in the USA and always put "the 4th of july" simdapendence day is so much better lol
Girl same 😂 I was like well that's embarrassing!
This whole community cracks me up. 😂
We may not be very original but apparently we are very clever!
Now what I'm super curious about is; has anyone else done "Simco DeMayo" for Cinco deMayo?
I absolutely love watch and his disdain for American terms. Trust me satch, some of us Americans understand the British terms.
Omg I love this person 😂❤
A week for each season is just too short for me. I like to go the full amount for as realistic as I can get.
no, growing up we put the christmas decorations near christmas. and then take them out in january. they didn't stay up for more than a couple weeks. a whole month of christmas decor is too much. it's already bad enough stores start putting up christmas stuff in november. wait until the 15th
I am the only one who plays 4 week seasons? I play very rotational so maybe that’s why
I like making the dumbest holidays because I simply get a giggle out of it.
Catholics go to midnight mass on Christmas Eve here in the US as well 😊
I have a holiday that is just called "go nuts" and I put the weirdest traditions in there I could find and wouldn't fit into the other holidays I made
We can edit the holiday that pops up to take away anything we don't feel like doing as well.
I love to have early may bank holiday!
Great video keep it up you're doing amazing things 😁💯
I like the summer ingame, thats why I changed the summertime every year to 28 days and every other season to 7 days. 😂 It would be so much better, if you could change the lenght of every season individually.
Does anyone else love hearing the American versions of words and the diss he gives 🤣🤣🤣
My Lord I’ve never been this early! Hi 🫶🏾
It’s so funny when americans and brits make fun of eachother’s accents
I’m Australian we say back YARRd / Santa to 😅 Australian words are like a mix of American and English plus our own words to 😂 it’s weird
Not I. I always start my game off in the spring so I can start my garden. I think holidays are annoying asf in Sims4. Wish I could disable them all in my game.
It's funny how "winter" basically translates to "December". Valentines day is in February, which is still technically winter.
Love these ideas!!
As an American, every time he says “all the Americans are screaming at me…” I literally laugh out loud. Poor Satch is traumatized.
9 MINUTES AGO 159 VIEWS AND 6 COMMENTS I LOVE YOU SATCH YOURE MY FAVE SIMMER
Can you turn off weather deaths in settings same as turning off emotional deaths? I keep emotional deaths on but sims always dieing bc of the wrong outfit would annoy me
How did you remove all the high school years and other pack "crap" that shows up soooooo often
How did you take everything off your sims 4 calendar??
There is Easter in game its called springfest
Your american accent kills me every time 💀💀💀
I don’t even have seasons so I don’t have summer to give kids summer vacation
How do you get a clear calendar?
Hii can you recommend fun or unique community lots no cc by creators using minimal packs for another video. My game is kinda dry from just restaurants and bars etc
I'm so confused by what you said at 0:11 can anyone explain?
Love this videooo
Is this base game only or do I need an EP/GP to make holidays?
I think you need at least the seasons pack
I can handle the holidays but I can’t stand the high school events. The sound that it makes every Thursday at 5pm kills me.. scares me to death really!
Very cool 🐺❤❤❤
When I host a Halloween party, how do I get my guests to also wear costumes?
If you throw a costume party through the social events, then they will all wear costumes.
This is such a sinple idea but great. I am perpetually annoyed by the fact it has you decorate on Christmas when I already have the decorations up. Also just why brawl day, like seriously.
Anyone else not able to launch the game after switching to ea app?
I’ve had EA but for the past 2 weeks if I launch while in online mode it takes like 30+ minutes to start up, offline mode takes like 2 ☹️ idk if that’s what you mean but yea I think it’s the EA app
@@Jess-kx7cgMy game wasn't launching at all, I fixed it by moving the whole sims4 folder out, successfully launching the game, so then moving mods, saves and tray folders back in. It worked but I don't even know how 😂
Sims 4 needs a trait that named careless this sims should couldnt care less about any holiday or people who are mean
U so salty about the pronunciation. I notice the differences but would never point it out cuz British have obviously been speaking English longer than us =) i enjoy your accent and am sad some ppl are such a**holes!!! Also, I am pagan so always add the moon and solstice holidays
HAHAHHAHA backYARD
For highschool years I hate that they have prom every week. That makes absolutely no sense to me, why would they celebrate that every month when in highschool you do it once a year.
early!!!!
No baking on Christmas eve? what kind of heathen lifestyle are you living???
